  • This was an excellent take on rock/paper/scissors and expanding on it!. The variety of the cards what really well done, so much you would need to learn and figure out. I really liked the art and the mixture of 2D characters and background with the 3D environment, they blended pretty well. Not knowing what beats what was a bit odd, maybe show a chart at the start of all the different types and what they win/lose against. This was an excellent take on the theme and I can tell a lot of work was put into it.

Summarise your game!
Singlehandedly is a roguelike card game, where you gather more powerful cards on your quest to retrieve your stolen hand.

There is 4 enemies in the prototype, each with different available cards and stats. After each fight, you can add a card to your deck or upgrade an existing card from your deck. You also get another finger, which allows you to play more cards before you need to reset your available fingers that you use to play cards.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You, the player, Blobbin the Blob, have magical power of your hand being a weapon... in rock-paper-scissors.

One of the things I instantly noticed is the artstyle, which is one of my favorite points. The environments are really pretty, and the characters designs are very unique. The music compliments some of the sillyness of the game, and the sound effects are fitting.

I was very surprised when I started to see so many new hand formations outside of the ones from regular rock-paper-scissors, but it was a very good surprise! I'm not entirely sure yet how each new hand formation interacts with others, but I find the concept extremely interesting!

I also really like the characters, dialogue and story. It made me pumped to go grab what is rightfully mine! (also, appreciate the Scissors button)

When I got to the final boss, I was able to essentially have so much shield the king couldn't damage me anymore for the rest of the battle, so maybe a bit of balancing to not let the player become way too op could be good. The animations for critical hits were also an awesome touch!

Let me just say, one of the main reasons I played the game was the mix of the name with the character in the thumbnail. It set a good impression of the game from the get go for me. I had a good time with this game and I really like the humor, the art and the gameplay concepts here. It'd be interesting to see this expanded upon. Very well done!

Art is very cute and story/dialogue are very funny. Music was unobtrusive and pleasant. Gameplay was very easy to understand after I got a hang of it. They only suggestion I do have is once the last dialogue is made maybe auto starting to the next battle room. For a second I thought I broke it because there was no more words popping up but that's so minor. Otherwise a very fun game jam game and I hope ya'll have the ability to make it full fledged.

I love the concept! The art is really beautiful, and the character and environment design are super interesting and cool. In some parts of the game, the UI is a bit hard to read, but it’s not a big deal and doesn’t stop me from playing. Great job!

Love this! Super cute story, and the gameplay felt really smooth. I was a little unsure about some mechanics, maybe in the future some tooltips could be helpful.

Yeah, We will work on adding more tips down the line. Happy you enjoyed the game

Thanks! We had some major technical issues close to the end and we ran out of time to do tooltips, unfortunately. They are on the list for the continuation of the project though, so when it's updated, you'll definitely see them! :)

Cute idea! I liked the idea of bringing RPS to the deck-building game. It would be cool though, if there was still RPS side to it - that paper gets extra against rock, etc. Or was it there? I wasn't quite sure.
The main issue for me was unclear feedback from the game - after each move there was zoom + too many popups texts that I wasn't able to process what was going on. Making it more paced would make it much easier to follow.

Also very cute art!

Yeah absolutely that was the idea! Sorry the gameplay isn't that clear. We are considering to keep developing this game further tho!

Winning rock-paper-scissors game was doubling one of the effects. During the development we needed to change the design slightly so - the initial plan was that all cards have at least 2 effects on them, even 2 x damage, and winning RPS removes one of the effects. A lot of the feedback bits were done also in last 24h of development as it was delayed due to the technical issues.

Plan at the moment is to develop the game even further so we can bring to life all the plans we initially had. Afterall, it's just a prototype... :)
