Nice implementation and a fit with the theme  🧠 💜

I enjoyed this, I'm a fan of memory games and this one was very nicely implemented. I like the visual style and the kind of zen feeling to the background. It would have been nice to see a twist that made it 'Playdate' - even scrolling through tiles with the crank would be a nice option and could actually enable quicker runs.
I'd also like a little effect, maybe particle or something, every time I get a match right - I guess I need that regular validation!  If this were developed further it'd also be nice to see levelling, like may the addition of a timer so that your scores are affected by speed and a level can be failed if max time is reached. Combine that with the really nice look and feel of this as it is and I'd definitely be playing this regularly on train rides and stuff.
I had to edit the PDXinfo file to get this to load, but its a jam, these things happen and its an easy solve.

I like the idea of a visual indicator when you get a match, great idea. I did plan on implementing the crank for fast vertical scrolling also button pressing so you can really zip around the playfield.

I like the leveling idea, I was planning on incorporating a timer but that takes it to the next level…🤦‍♂️

I also have several different card backs and backgrounds that I made so that would work well with the leveling.

Thanks for all the comments and playing. I’ll get all of this stuff sorted after the jam!

That'd be cool. I'd love to play the next iteration. Hopefully my comments also got across that I really enjoyed it! It  was super smooth and nice to play, which is not easy to achieve in jam time!!

Artwork is nice! Aside from that, it's a pretty standard memory game. It works pretty well, though, so nicely done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the comments, I definitely plan on adding a few more things after the jam to make it more entertaining hopefully

A quite competent (and quite standard) memory game (please let met know if I missed the twist).

This of course fits the theme perfectly. I do like the way the tiles turn and that the items on them are at least decently visible given the size you’ve drawn them at.

I’m also pleased that my own memory is just about good enough that I can actually get the score multiplier off of the base level a few times before the end of the game :-p

(Difficulty-level selection is also appreciated.)

needed to take some extra steps to sideload this over the web, but this is a dang nice memory match game; you really can't go wrong here. some sound FX or chill music a la sparrow solitaire would be a very nice vibe, and i really like the multiple difficulty selections

Developer(+2)

Yeah sorry about that, I hadnt tried sideloading it via the web. I'll put a note in the description for now. I'll get that fixed after the jam. I plan on updating all the things and adding some additions that I couldnt get to after the jam. Thanks for the kind words Rae!

When trying to upload this via Sideload in my https://play.date account it complains that “The buildNumber value in pdxinfo must be an integer”

Developer(+1)

I'll get that fixed after the jam. I should have tried sideloading via their website. I just plugged my device in.

Yeah, once I am at my computer with the simulator I’ll be able to give it a go 🙂

A classic matching 2 images game. Nice for this Theme !
Great art ! Sad there is no chill music or fx sound for match or "good"/"bad" selection.
Two remark : in the console debug i can see a lot of logging at each frame "checking for win" i guess you check at all moment if the screen is empty.. for less checking you could try other way to check this win.

I can see potential in a more advance version as a good chill playdate game

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Yeah I had never done sound on the playdate before, so a sound track and effects will come out after the jam.  I like the idea of a little chime when you make a good selection. I have an idea for a few modes too.

I basically have it checking for a win on every frame. This was quick and dirty but I agree a proper game controller would eliminate the need for that. I'll definitely work on adding that.

I got various card backs you can unlock and different backgrounds, just never got around to implementing that. Love the feedback!

I like it. Add some calm music and I could imagine me playing this very often :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah music and sound effects are at the top of my list
