Add me as another one who is absolutely charmed by the maids. Exploration was fun, particularly finding DSD.
It was definitely fun writing and developing the maids with their own personality and goals. Just curious, was there a particular maid that was your favorite?
The red-haired one had the cutest cut but I liked Mammon's vibe best.
Your take on the character designs and the maids are just oozing with character and charm. Along with the writing and animations for them too! It was fun to explore the mansion and piece together what I needed to do. The music selection fit so well too. Great job!
Thanks! Trying to make characters that leave a bit of an impression was a focus of mine for this project. It was a first for me using shape keys and animating in blender, so I'm happy the effort seemed to had paid off.
After seeing your game "Trick Hunt", I really need to step up UI utilization for next time.
You nailed it in that case. Even more so if that was your first time doing animations and shape keys! They definitely stood out.
Excellent character models, your depiction of Seraphina is one of my favorites in the game jam.
Thanks! Seraphina's personality from the original concept image really carried most of the weight. As for the design, it actually underwent a few changes during the initial 3D modeling stage to what you see now. Glad you enjoyed it.
Very cute game, and exactly the right size for the jam. All the little details hidden around the mansion were a treat to find.
I absolutely love this game! If the maids were real plushies, I'd buy millions, lol
That's good to know, since I am open to accepting down payments in advance.

Loved the character models. Almost got jump-scared by Solveig under the stairs! Quite a large mansion to explore, finding the secret basement with DSD's shop was my favourite part.
The use of echolocation was a highlight of this game for me. The idea of having this big mansion with a many characters living in it and using echolocation powers to find objects and hidden characters is fun, specially when finding some of the little hidden easter eggs. Part of me just wishes it had more quests with that mechanic because it's definitely a fun premisse. Very good renditions of the characters as well, super accurate to the drawings. Good work!
Definitely! The overall utilization of the echolocation was simplified for the sake of finishing on time for the game jam, but hiding small Easter eggs was a must!
Wow this was awesome! Great use of Seraphina's power during gameplay, loved the scale of this project. Was really fun exploring and seeing what's behind each door. Loved the design of Sera's maids and your different takes on the characters; when I first saw Solveig there was a split second of terror then recognition, great work!
EDIT: Also loved that ending, I lol'd hard at The Champ's bit just before that too
Had one bug, when coming out of the door from the underground elevator it would clip me back down to the lower level. I got past it by jumping out of the elevator, but I did have both the underground and mansion music playing at the same time (actually was a nice mix lol).
Ha! Solveig was originally planned to have a more faithful design to the original concept. Glad so many people were shocked with the slight redesign! Designing characters in general is one of the funnest aspect of making a game for me (and the interaction between them). So thank you for enjoying them!
I wasn't able to replicate that bug, but I believe it stems from a miss export on the floor right below the door. There is a little chunk missing there when I separated the tower from the main building to add the dithering effect. I guess I could also just re-export the main building with that floor restored, or add a little platform collider.
I had difficulty running this game. Not sure what was going on but only WASD worked on keyboard and if I used a controller my character kept running forward and spamming the echolocation ability, any ideas on what the issue could be? The character models were super cute and recognizable though so it was still interesting to run around and see those.
Was it a switch pro controller? If so, unfortunately you may need to run it on steam as a non-steam game to align the control scheme.

UPDATE:
I just added some keyboard control if needed.
Keyboard controls:
WASD - movement
E - Interact
R - Skip dialogue buffer
F - Echolocation
LEFT/RIGHT ARROW - Camera control
SPACE - Jump
SHIFT - Check quest/inventory
L - START
It was an Xbox controller, but I didnt run it through steam so that may have been the problem thanks.
sorry, i just realized i should have mentioned this in my last comment but it slipped my mind last night. but the music you have included is copy-written stuff you dont have the rights to. even if this is the kind of video game music that wouldnt get flagged on stream, it is still against the rules of the jam and probably itch's as a whole to use like this. you are still allowed to patch issues found in your game even after the deadline, so if you would be able update this to either include fully license free music, or just remove it all together or something, i would ask that you please do. it really is a cool game and i would hate something like this to impact it negatively
Hi wujak, thank you for the heads up. I will try to upload a version with license-free music, or a version with no music altogether by Friday.
Thanks for getting a new build up that doesnt have the music issues. i would recommend you remove the old upload in order to avoid any problems with itch's hosting policies
Very neat character designs and a cute little area to explore. it was a good time for sure
fun little adventure running around figuring out which character I needed to talk to next, enjoyed the characters, especially Solveig.
This was such a good time. Loved exploring the house and interacting with all the characters. Fun use of the echolocation powers. Thought the depictions of the main characters were absolutely stellar, with Solveig and Seraphina herself being the highlights. Also, the reference to certain things from last year put a huge smile on my face. Great job all round!
