cats + lasers = yes.
Ah, a fellow jammer with sophisticated sensibilities; I couldn't agree more!
Thanks for stopping by to take a crack at it! :D
I had fun playing this, I realllllly dug the art and sound, and the gameplay wasn't that bad either. There wasn't a lot of emphasis on the idea of dodging, like it wasn't the main spotlight, but I still had lots of fun playing it. Also, have I mentioned that the art and sounds are amazing? :O
Hey there, appreciate the feedback!
Being a cross-submission with minijam, the focus on the dodging theme is admittedly pretty loose. With the help of jammer suggestions, I've compiled quite the list of new features and fixes to make it both easier to learn, and more difficult to master.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it nonetheless, and I'm thrilled you liked the art and sound design; for all the time I spent on getting those just right, I could have added more things to dodge! xD
The game is fun but its a bit hard and there's no highscore system
Greetings, thanks for playing!
There are plans for an easing-in of the more difficult aspects of gameplay in the works for a post-jam update.
In the meantime, your high score is displayed next to your current score in parentheses at the top right corner of the screen.
If it doesn't persist between reloads/retries and stays at (0), that's a bug and I'd love nothing more than to squash it! :D
k
Nice concept, but I missed some more dodge, maybe adding more enemies according time pass. However it was funny. Good job!
May you rate my game too?
Hello, and thanks for playing! I appreciate the feedback and intend to add a more competitive difficulty curve in a post-jam update to make it more beginner-friendly and difficult to master. Glad to hear you liked it nevertheless! :D
You bet I will :]
Cool. Music is catchy. Gameplay is kinda unusual. And art-style is good as well.
Hey there, glad you enjoyed it! MiniJam's 8x8 texture restriction inspired me to take the reins on the art, so I appreciate your kind words :]
I agree on the music, it was a good fit. Dan Knoflicek does some good work!
I knew going in that trying to gamify the experience of playing with a cat with a laser pointer was gunna be a little...nuanced, so thanks for taking the time to give it a whirl! :D
Cool game. But I think the game is about collecting mice then dodging.
Besides this, cool and fun game.
Heyyo, I appreciate the feedback, and you're definitely right. This game is a cross-submission with MiniJam, and originally was only meant to have the watchdog. When the theme and limitation for ScoreSpace was announced, I shoehorned in the Plague Mice for an extra thing to dodge. As for collecting mice, how else would one keep score? :]
I'm glad you nevertheless found it enjoyable, and thanks for playing!
Happy Jammin' :D
love the kitty design, good game!
Hello, and many thanks! Oscar's a charmer, that one :]
Glad to hear you enjoyed it, and thanks for playing! :D
Really like this game, I know it isn't realistic but kind of wish I could use a double jump?
Hey there! Fun fact: there originally wasn't any limitation on the number of times you you pounce before touching the ground; it was added in as the last feature before it was submitted to the jam. I hadn't considered simply limiting it to twice, but another suggestion has come up proposing a sort of fully charged 'emergency laser' to jump spontaneously. I don't see why that couldn't be possible even in mid-air.
Something to keep your eyes peeled for in post-jam updates!
I appreciate your feedback, and am happy to hear you enjoyed it nevertheless.
Thanks for playing, and Happy Jammin'! :D
The art's amazing! It's quite challenging moving trying to dodge, but it's fun launching the cat across the screen. Maybe add a small boost meter for emergency get-aways?
Oooooooh, I like that idea! I've been trying think of ways to repurpose the right-click, and that might be just the thing! I'll keep this in mind for post-jam updates; I appreciate the feedback and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it.
Thanks for playing, and Happy Jammin'! :D
love the art style! although the UI at the top was hard to parse at at full screen. It did take me a bit to get used to the controls. It would have been nice if maybe the doggie didn't show up until after you had 3 mice or something.
Hey there, happy to hear you enjoyed it! I appreciate the feedback, and was thinking the exact same thing. Rest assured, 'delayed doggy' is in my post-jam notes. Perhaps even a second doggo after10 mice? or 50 dogs?! The possibilities are endless!
Yeah, the controls are a little nuanced, and I was very aware of that going in. It seemed fitting and made for a good opportunity to experiment with its viability, and here we are :]
Thanks for stopping by to give it a go, and Happy Jammin'! :D
pls no 50 doggies :c I could hardly handle the 1 lol
Hah, yeah, that'd be nonsense! ^_^
*quietly scratches "50 doggies" off list...*
Those sound effects were amazing! Nice Game. Just gameplay wise it was a little confusing, but I didn't read the instructions :P
Hah, no worries there, the controls are somewhat nuanced, and there is much to benefit from a tutorial of sorts. Glad to hear you enjoyed it nonetheless! I appreciate the feedback, and thanks for playing!
Happy Jammin'! :D

PIXEL ART!!! Those sound effects were amazing! Nice Game
Thrilled to hear you liked it! The game was a dual-submission to MiniJam, wherein the constraint was Cats and 8x8 artwork, hence the style.
Thanks for playing, and Happy Jammin'! :D
Nice simple presentations, cute idea and the sound effects fit well without over doing it.
When time is of the essence, simplicity is the name of the game. Glad to hear you liked it!
Thanks for stoppin' by to take a crack at it, and Happy Jammin'! :D
Good job! I like the graphics, music and sound effects, and the little snippet of lore at the start is definitely welcome!
Heyyo, happy to hear you enjoyed it! I thought the lore would help contextualize the somewhat nuanced laser-pointer controls, but it also made for a good last-minute tutorial.
Thanks for playing, and Happy Jammin'! :D
I love the gameplay! It's very unique. The user experience is also really nice with everything very readable about where mice are going, your health and your stamina. Art and SFX in this gets a 10/10.
Hey there, I appreciate the feedback. For something as different as this, I made it my mission to make it as user-approachable as possible, so I'm thrilled to hear I've achieved that. Glad you enjoyed it!
Many thanks for stopping by and giving it a go! :D
