I liked this game way more than I was expecting I would. The sound design is simple but top notch. I like how the space background is. Way better than most I have seen recently. My fav part is the gameplay cuz the timing at which the enemy ships spawn and the kind of bullets and all of those, they quickly get so challenging and so fun in a very good way.

Tho one complain I have is that what ship comes around when is predictable. Was that an intentional choice or did I just imagine it. I played it like 3 times and I think it came in same style and around same time in all three.

Hi, thanks for playing! Yes it's the same order of enemies every time. It was like that so there could be an ending while keeping it fair score wise (if it's random with an ending, some players might just come across more high scoring enemies). The plan was for me to implement more of the 'Escape' theme in the ending, but I ran out of time and no one seems to have gotten to the ending anyway. Oh well.

My best score: 4150

Gameplay: 4

Simple idea with good execution:)  I like the pulse shot thingies, pretty cool

Theme: 3

Connection to the theme is mentioned in the desc but not inside the game, but its such a simple theme that it doesnt really matter:p

Aesthetics: 4

You have found some nice matching assets,, bullets are a bit hard to see against the background but its probably just my bad eyesight lol

Sound: 5

Music and sfx is great, especially if made specifically for this jam!

Excellent submission overall, keep up the great work all of you!

Developer

Thanks for the detailed feedback! All audio assets except the powerup pickup sound were made during the jam, with more sound effects by Mandarus coming in the post jam version. I think I'll darken the stars in the background a bit to try help with visibility.

Great game!

The music and the post processing effects are pretty cool!

Great game! The music is awesome...

One small thing - could you make the ship follow the mouse more closely!

Great job! It quickly gets hard to manage all the projectiles on screen, but that's kind of the point of these games so I think its a skill issue on my part haha

Feels great to play and presentation is top notch. I've read in the description that they're not made by you (nothing wrong with that) but still wanted to say that I especially like the explosions. Great job on the game!

If the Restart worked correctly I would have probably played many more runs.

Nicely integrated third-party art assets. The ship is a little sluggish, but it feels pretty nice to play and control overall!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. You're not the first to mention the ship speed, I'll keep it in mind for a post jam version.

super nice aesthetic!

Whoa! The graphics, sound and effects are really appealing and you bring all together in a very fun gameplay. Good job, this is one of the most fun ones that i played so far!

We played this game for so long and we have a few entries on the top 10 but if this game is not endless then we did NOT BEAT IT lol.  It was very fun!  It did take us a minute to figure out that the powerups did not respawn but after seeing your description that helped us out.  Great job!!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Sorry about that, I wish I could bugfix during the voting period. It's a single line of code to fix (timer = 0).

It is not endless :)

Thanks for playing!

Loved this game!

Not much in the way of feedback, tbh. The art is beautiful, the gameplay feels responsive, and the music is great. I just think you could add some more content and this game is looking really good! Also maybe I would differentiate the laser sounds a bit more, to know what's what. It could be really useful to have more distinct audio cues so that the player can keep their eyes on their spaceship while knowing what is being thrown their way.
Small bug: it seems like in my second run, no powerups were spawning. Maybe the scene isn't being reloaded correctly?

Keep up the great work!

Developer(+1)

Yep, timer on the powerups is not reset properly due to a last minute change. Thanks for letting me know, I've put a warning in the description.

The spaceship could follow the mouse a bit faster, great game tho:)
