Great work - this is one of my favorite games in the jam!  Good to hear you're still continuing to work on it.  I would greatly appreciate if a future version had the ability to customize keyboard controls - I personally find A/D/Space very awkward and would prefer to jump with W (though of course there are probably some people who feel the exact opposite haha).

Developer(+1)

excellent point, we will be working on that for the next hotfix

I like the choice of killing enemies using either the grapple or the gun, the gun being safer but limited and the grapple being unlimited but with a chance to pull you into the enemy you were trying to kill.

Great visuals and a lot of depth to the gameplay, great job!

Nice game! It would be great if you had the ability to swing a little bit once you reach the wall with the grappling hook instead of being stuck against it, great job!

Developer

that hook update is in an upcoming update! if you are in the scorespace discord you can even see a "sneak peek" of some updates that are coming right after the game jam.

Lovely game, and good use from procedural generation didn't feel like I ran into the same level. I like the upgraded system and how you contained all the game mechanics within the actually game level.  The monochrome pallete also make  key things like health and enemies stand out so much more. Looks really good.

One note is that it  would be nice to have  one jump when you're grappling,  it'd make it more fluid when scaling platforms or trying to land on another.

Developer

yes, interesting point, i will keep that in the notes for the next updates, perhaps not a jump but a "swing" and launch to the side perhaps would be more fluid, thanks for the feedback!

Hi, your game is very cool and fun but the grapin is maybe a little difficult to magnier. Otherwise very good game, good luck.

Developer(+1)

thanks for the comment, we're working on a new grappling hook in the next update that should come out pretty soon along with other updates outside of the game jam.

also nice idea your submission too!

Awesome game! I'm impressed you had time to make a procedural system in impressive, and it really feels like different levels each time. Very elegant way to use the graplin for several purposes. The aesthetics of your game is really great, and I especially like the work on splash screen, menu, options etc.

Great job, keep creating games!

Developer(+1)

Thank you ror your reply! i'm glad that you liked it as i am creating a fully polished version and will hopefully move to steam too

actually, the system is pretty simple and basic, and nothing too much two write home about

There's little .png sprites in the game that create the tileset for each "section" that are then stacked on top of each other

Pretty sneaky tileset system nothing special.

Wow ok nice, thanks for the explanation!

Love the artstyle you've chosen! Reminds me a lot of Downwell. Sometimes the physics feels a little off with the wall jump. Other than that, really great game

Developer

Thanks for playing! i'm glad you got to enjoy it.

Also funny how everyone compares it to Downwell, gonna admit i newer saw it before i had created this game.

The tileset is a "remix" of Kenney's one bit tileset, modified and adapted while on stream.

The wall jump, i have no idea why i even added it last minute and i really have to fix that one mechanic.

What a great game! Love the grapple hook mechanics and the option to use it as a weapon instead of your gun is really fun.

Developer

i must admit that perhaps the score with the grapple should be smaller compared to the gun rather than the other way around, but otherwise i'm glad you liked the grapple hook!

actually the grapple hook the first time was very bad, you couldn't "stop" the hook midway and had to wait for the player to get the hook and stuff, we modified it literally last second before uploading and were worried it was even worse.

One really tight mechanic in a game can make all the difference. If you ever plan on updating the game a cool feature would be if you could interchange the end of the grappling hook. Like swap it out for an iron gauntlet so it could break certain walls instead of grapple, or a suction cup that can swap your position with the enemies position if their back is turned to you.

Anyways great work!

Loved this game! Really fun to play and the art style and sound suits it really well!

I played your game and loved the art style.  The music seemed rather quiet however but it did sound good when I turned it up.   The biggest issue I see is bits of the movement.  The player seems an little bit to fast for the 1x1 platforms and I would over walk constantly.  However the speed of the character on other platforms anything from 2x1 and up is fine.  Overall I really liked your game.

Developer

Ah yes, the music, i decided to opt for the "quiet but good" rather than blast the player's ears, i'm not sure why.

Also interesting point you bring up with the speed, i will check it out in one of the future updates.
