I'm always here for a ditherpunk game! This hints at complex and fascinating worldbuilding in its little interactions which I appreciate. The puzzle design is complex, and I can see the effort behind the ingenious possibilities to the second mushroom puzzle in using objects and corners to grow it into shapes. Plenty that can be built upon here and some of the most thoughtful puzzle design in the jam.

Thanks for submitting The Path to the jam!

Wow, thanks! Puzzle design is new to me, but I have been learning to enjoy the frustration.

We had a lot of fun this jam! Totally weren't expecting to make the top 10.

Took a second to realize that the mouse was usable for the inventory, but once that clicked this was a really satisfying puzzle game~ Thank you so much for sharing! Are you planning on expanding on this idea?

Developer

Thanks for the kind words, Adorne!

Maybe at some point, though other projects are keeping me busy.  Is there any particular aspect you would be interested in seeing expanded upon in a fuller game?

Maybe doing something in the vein of The Witness. The style of puzzle you're currently doing could be one of them, expanding what is possible as the game goes on. Maybe even being able to interact with the items you trade, pulling them apart, etc. Then after a few levels you could introduce a different style of puzzle. Less inventory size-based, just to give more of your artstyle and ideas as they seem really awesome. Maybe even have past puzzles interacting with future puzzles. Even allowing us to walk down the previous hallways to attain older items that might be used in a different way in the new puzzles.

Ya know, easy stuff. XD (This is sarcasm, I get this would be a very difficult thing to create and balance, besides the inherent difficulty of puzzle design itself.)

those are all great ideas, Adorne! I was definitely thinking the hallway “steps” could be like a meta-inventory if they were two-dimensional and you could turn at right angles.

If you like the 2d art, that’s the work of my buddy, Shinbone. Check the game page for a link.

I'd definitely want to make the gameplay more obvious in a non-jam game. Adding trade / cancel buttons, indicating what a "fair trade" , maybe with a "scale" in the UI, and some more obvious hints, for example.

Loved the artstyle and puzzles! Definitely a pretty cool concept and I would like to see more of it if you ever decide to explore more of the idea :)

Thanks Karane!

It was a nice game, and I really liked the art style that you used on it. Overall, nice job.

Really cool art style and unique puzzle gameplay. Second puzzle was tough, but oh so satisfying to solve.
Very good job!

Cool puzzle game, i really liked the game’s aesthetic, especially the item design, and that growing mushroom sprite was really cool. I do think adding some music would help a bit with the atmosphere, but I do understand it's a game jam. Great stuff!
