I was pretty invested in game play from the beginning, I liked the point and click adventure that you guys have made. It reminds me alot of the escape room games I played as a kid. I could not for the love of god find the key in kitchen however, I feel like Im missing something and I keep back tracking to find it but Im very lost.

Developer

Thanks for playing!  If you can't find the key in the kitchen, something might be bugged with either the resolution you are playing on or the browser perhaps.  If you want, I can DM you with the location where it *SHOULD* be, as to not give things away to others.

Neat little puzzle experience, well executed mood shift after coming back inside. I had fun with the first few puzzles but the last one felt a little rude when the credits rolled. Still a fun point and click, set a nice mood, and I enjoyed the puzzle variety.

Developer

Thanks for playing!  We ran out of time.  If you saw the credits rolling, then you completed the puzzle.  There was actually supposed to be another step in order to find the clues for completing the puzzle and then an outro, but we wanted it to finish, so we ran with what we had.

This was nice, a proper puzzle horror game.

Thanks for playing!

That moment when you go back inside and everything's dark gave me the chills. That box puzzle had me going for ages lol Cool stuff!

Developer

Thanks for playing!  Yeah, we were trying to make it dark, but not TOO dark, still wanted everything visible.

Cool game. Gave it a five star rating would be great if you did the same :)

Thanks for playing!

That was cool! I think some of the interaction areas might not like large aspect ratios, so I was stuck there trying to figure out how to use the hammer for a while.  The puzzle box minigame was great, very Hellraiser.

Developer

Thanks for playing!  The aspect ratio *should* stay the same.  My monitor is 3440x1440 and it keeps the aspect ratio the same as my laptop which is much smaller and not ultrawide.  If you're seeing something different, let me know your settings and I'll try to see if I can reproduce it.  It might be a browser only issue because I did limited testing on the browser(s).

That's the same ratio I've got. Maybe I was too blind to find the point and only saw it when I made the window smaller lol

Developer

haha.  Yeah, I think the problem might be that it's only on one of the windows and not both.  We might need to update that if we revisit the game.

Cool game! I like the mini game as well :)

Very fun to play! The door jumpscare and sound design was really good! Wish there was more to do with screens, but a fun point-and-click nonetheless! Keep it up!

Thank you for playing. The idea was that all the entities are only visible through screens. Window screens, tv screens and even the screen door. That's why you don't see it when the door opens. Because it's a screen door.

That’s clever!

For the life of me I couldn't figure out the box puzzle. Loved the spook in the yard door.

Developer

Thanks for playing!  I tried to keep the puzzle box easy, but I didn't want it to be too easy.  It was *MUCH* easier to visualize when I had 1 - 8  instead of the symbols.  There are tutorials online for doing slider puzzles so I was hoping that would offset the difficulty that the symbols added.

Good door sound!

Thanks for playing!

couldn't find the key, sound has to play before you can go through the door. game crashed

Developer

Thanks for playing.  Items of interest in the game show an icon when you mouse over them.  The sound was supposed to be playing on a transition but we weren't able to add that.  What OS are you playing on?  If on the Browser, which browser are you using?  I haven't had a crash.  Oh, the front door doesn't open, if that's the key you were looking for.

i use Microsoft edge, but it was very specific how it crashed, i was able to play for a few minutes before the game crashed when i clicked on the arrow.

Developer

I don't think we have an arrow to click on.  If it was in the basement, the arrow is just part of the background, so it shouldn't cause a crash.  I'll try to install/use Edge and see if I can reproduce the crash.  I played through several times and the game is beatable but I don't know if it's a specific edge case (no pun intended).

by arrow i mean the hand to leave the bedroom when i say arrow, sorry in case i confused you.

Developer

Thanks, that helps narrow it down!  I used: Microsoft EdgeVersion 121.0.2277.128 (Official build) (64-bit) No plugins/addons.  I was unable to reproduce the crash.  I tried going in and out of the bedroom multiple times and at different points of the story.  The code to go from the bedroom to the TV room is the same for all of the doors in the game, so if it crashes on one it could theoretically crash on any of the doors.  The only thing I can think of that would have caused a crash is a problem loading the sound or the next room.  When I was first programming the doors, there were no sounds available and I prevented crashing with an if statement that says if the sound is null, skip it, so my thought is that it had the sound file listed but couldn't actually load it for some reason.  If we revisit the game for more chapters, I'll do some more digging and see if I can get it to crash.
