The music and art really take this up a lovely notch for a three-day jam cycle, makes it nearly worth playing again on its own. Admittedly, I did have issues with the hitboxes for enemies feeling a bit unfair at times, as bullets could hit them but they wouldn't disappear most of the time, which was frustrating. Power-up and score coins also were hard to distinguish from bullets at points. Perhaps a future update could change the shapes of those?
Regardless, this is a well-polished effort for a one-person team, you should be proud of yourself!
Nice and accessible ShmUP. A bit too accessible for good ol' me.
I mean the only enemy type here shoots aimed shots and that's it, thought it got old after the first minute.
Also it's kinda hard to discern the small fries' bullets from the falling snow, a bit more contrast between these and it'd be good.
Anyway I'm off to jam to the game's song, because holy shit it's banging. (What's it called?)
Thanks for the feedback, will look into it for a post-jam update. :)
The song within the game is by YuzuSound called 人造「パーフェクト・アンド・ウロング」 and is from the Assetpack here: https://note.com/lilysan_suwa/n/n93d7049bbdc6?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl...
They are also quite active on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@NozoraYuzu/videos
This is a pretty good looking game and it is fun but the combination of not knowing where my hitbox is and the lack of either clearing bullets around me when hit / low amount of iframes makes it rather frustrating at times. The power pickups also seems to move at a fast enough speed or I move slow enough that if it passes me, Im not going to be able to grab it before it leaves the screen. Still, impressive considering its a solo dev project
Smooth playing and adorable sprites! Nice work with Phaser.
It's a well-polished Danmaku game with a nice BGM.
The sprites are beautiful as well.
Very well-put-together! The artwork and choice of music was splendid, the stage was decently paced without too much dead air, and Cirno's patterns were quite a doozy despite their simplicity! I like how the enemy waves encouraged you to bomb (particularly how there are many horizontal lines of enemies which can be taken out with a well-timed Master Spark).
My main issues are that the point & power items look way too much like the bullets, the fairies' bullets are a bit too small and player movement suffers from inertia. However, it was still an enjoyable experience!
The music in this one was really good. Had a lot of fun.
Game is really cool. Marisa, the Fairies, and Cirno look really good. I also love the snowing effect going on, it speeding up or slowing down based on movement makes it feel really dynamic. Also shout outs to using Yuzu Sound in your project, I used too, good taste.
I think there's an issue with player movement diagonally? Aside from that an all around great game.
Thank you for commenting, what kind of issue were you having with diagonal movement? Also what Browser/Input method were you using? Still figuring out Phaser, so I probably botched something :)
I was using arrow keys and chrome. So far it's only happened while holding z to shoot, but occasionally only one direction will register.
this is GREAT. i LOVE the music and the sprites are really detailed and cool. the patterns for cirno are also really cool. I feel like the game would be improved if the bullets were a bit larger. Its kindof hard to see them at times due to their size. Anotherr improvement would be if focusing showed your hitbox. not knowing where my hitbox was made dodging bullets kindof scary. Apart from those 2 nitpicks, its an A1 game!
You're totally right, tried both ideas out and they improve the game considerably, so, thank you for the nitpicks :)
anytime! :>
