Well that's a pleasant read.

I like how the minigames implemented don't feel out of place because of the story! I've got only compliments for this game: excellent writing, real nice background, audio good, and not a single boring part. It's almost like it's an... advanced VN?

My congratulations to the team. Also I've featured this game in my video - not in its entirety though because of what the video is but still:

https://youtu.be/bFHWSZ1BOBw?t=3460

(Also imagine dissing yourself in-game for thinking noone has played "the previous entry", well you know what? I did nine months ago. Checkmate, Pedestal)

Developer(+1)

Oh, thank you so much! I really like the video, especially how you point out my references. Since you seemed to enjoy the references, I'll note down the obscure ones
- Mystia's eel comments are actually a reference to an old Flash game called Unagi Somurie, where you can catch 100 kinds of eel https://youtu.be/57YhJUXVVgk?t=2485
- "Eternity Larva has a secret?" is a reference to a quiz game called Perfect Memento of Touhou Question

haha but did you get the references tho (i kid, thank you for caring about that game too)

Very good writing!

Thanks!

The response to the apollo hoax question made me laugh, the 98 might be an understatement though

Developer

Glad it amused you! It does seem to be an undersell, based on me seeing people rack up 200+ attempts on it, but 98 attempts is the amount a friend of mine did, so it's a bit of a shout-out to him :P

This improved quite a lot since your last jam game, a lot of fun minigames and some comedy in between is quite appreciated, Kaguya definitely trolled me, I was looking her treasures like an idiot, she surely knows how to play with people >: (
(I find hilarious that you can go to extra stage from the beginning lol)

If I had to add something, it definitely would be more sound tracks, the loop is not that long and this is clearly a game you have to play for some time, also, I didn't knew I could walk faster using the mouse, so my progress was slow at first.

Still, quite fun, 5 stars.

Developer(+1)

Glad you had fun with it. Kaguya is quite the troll, she's caught a few people out who aren't aware of her legend. And the game is capable of being beaten in any order, so no one stage is more powerful than another this time

In the future, I may get Melin to make me some more tracks, but I personally think the length is good. The character themes I have for Housekinomon (not the Chibi Jam version) are the same length, and they'd play for longer. If I did get Melin to make me another track, it'd be for the battle, or for a new area I have planned

I usually don’t play RPG Maker titles and especially not math puzzles, but somehow I managed to finish both here, wow! Love the visual style you’ve got going on

I found Keine’s trivia to be exceptionally difficult though, not even the Touhou wiki was able to help me in the face of all the ZUN interview tidbits. The final phase of Wriggle’s firefly focus test filtered me as well.

Developer

I'm glad you like the style ^^

I probably should've checked if stuff like the Alice thing was on the wiki tbf, even if it is a joke question overall ^^; (actually both of the joke questions are loaded in retrospect)

Really loved this one. It's very simple, but the atmosphere is relaxing and the character interactions are cool. It's also very neat to see RPG Maker utilized in such a way too.

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

I really liked this game. It was so relaxing to speak to differenct characters and build bonds with them. Dialogues are really nice, and puzzles are very fun. And I got 6/7 in Keine's quiz \:D/

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

I liked Keine's quiz, got 5/7. Also, I can't believe it's RPGMaker.

Thanks, glad you liked it!

I really liked this! I think the concept was really original and even though there was a lot to read, it was enjoyable to do it! music and visuals are very good and if it wasn't for the Mokou fight (which I liked) I wouldn't be able to say it's RPGMaker. My favorite quest was probably the lore quiz with Keine. btw Tewi... found the Jojo reference lol

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! People definitely seem to like the quiz the most

Submitted

Did no one else encounter the Cirno quiz easter egg? I'll pretend I'm the only one who encountered the Cirno quiz easter egg. This is nice and relaxing, although depending on the situation and my mood, I don't know if I'm always at the ready to read through Touhous seemingly ramble on about nothing in particular. The art here looks stylish too, despite its simplicity. Cool atmosphere.

Developer

Glad you like it! I do wonder how many people got the Cirno dialogue

Submitted

absolutely incredible, people are doing some crazy stuff with rpgmaker this jam. it might not break the confines of the engine spectacularly but this guy is still great

greatest achievement of mine is getting wriggle's minigame first try (basic counting) and then losing at eirin's twice (basic arithmetic)

looks great is funny

Developer

I'm glad you like it! With enough bashing with a wrench and JS knowledge, RPG Maker can do many things

Brilliant writing and charming graphics. Lots of fun. I repeated the quiz so many times just to catch all the snark.

I didn't realize just moving into the bed would end the game, as I hadn't fought Mokou with a full party yet. I'd suggest requiring the player to manually interact with the bed to end the game.

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

Yeah I think that was mostly just a crunch-time brain lapse because it was supposed to be an Action Button, but nobody brought it up so I just never noticed ^^; I'll definitely be fixing it in a future update, thanks for telling me

cule little game. had me googling lore I didn't know about

Developer

Google-Fu is the ultimate way to beat Keine

My new jam favorite as of writing this! So much original assets with a really clean art style/nice backgrounds. Like other people said, I have no idea how you did so many things in such a short amount of time, and I loved the dialogue, even if it was a little reference heavy. I was happy to catch a lot of nods to the main series as well as the trivia bits even if Keine took me almost as many tries as the 3rd firefly round. I think Wriggle and Kaguya had the best lines.

Outside of some default sounds/UI, I was also surprised that this was all RPGMaker; I'm guessing its technically a wide looping parallax map with a single row of walkable tiles, but how did you get everyone's sprites to be so big? Clearly I have a lot to learn.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm super glad you like it so much! My secret is that I can code like lightning in a logic brick system like this, everything I do will either come out well first time or require only minor tweaks to function, so I can leave testing to the very end and just absolutely race through the actual coding and then test at the very end. I'm actually surprised that people consider this a lot? If I'd had the full three days to code and not the one and a half I had (because the art took the rest of the time), I could've included an entire secondary area

I love including a lot of little things in my dialogue, and I tend to write for a very specific audience. I'll probably put less references in my next game though, since that seems to be a common sticking point :P

You're correct on the parallax map, and the trick with the sprites is simply that MV will allow you to make a spriteset as big as you please, so long as all of the boxes are the same size and your canvas is 4x2 of the spritesheet. All of my sprites have different heights (sans Keine's two forms, and the firefly colors), so they have their own sheets

Submitted

Genuinely have no idea how you programmed all of this in a few days; mighty impressive.

Developer(+1)

Coded and drew everything in three days, only cost me my sanity and a 32-hour stint of being awake

Very cute little game! Made me laugh quite a few times, It's absolutely worth a playthrough if you're familiar with the franchise.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it

The error message that says "map.png" is missing keeps coming up for me, I can't play the game

Developer

I fixed that within the first fifteen minutes of uploading. Please redownload

That's quite interesting, collection of minigames instead of full one.

Maybe too much references and fourth wall breaks for me, but overall it's pretty chill

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I went with "combo" as in "combination"

and sorry about that, i tend to write stuff I enjoy, and I tend to like things with a lot of references

Submitted

So many Asprey references! I love it!

Developer

Thanks! I enjoy putting Asprey references into games like this
