Excellent and sweet game! ...wait are tacos sweet? What is their taste qualified as?

I liked absolutely everything in this game. Gorgeous-looking, gameplay is fun and engaging, and somehow it's always a delight whenever a bell chimes.

I featured this game in a showcase video!

A tightly-made platformer.  I couldn't complete it due to my skills, but I can tell people who have the skills would love it.

This was a really polished game, I wasn't expecting a precision platformer that's honestly better than some I've paid money for. Also the only game in the jam I feel like I did well enough to brag about too, beating it in about 15 minutes (thanks, Hollow Knight's Path of Pain!) which I feel is reasonably fast.

The concept and gameplay on this were solid with pretty pixelart and music, and I didn't expect the funny writing either (took me a sec to connect bells and tacos...), so this was great overall.

Excellent, quite the challenge here, very tight timing but still enjoyable, I tended to skip some sections because of the attack sprite, nothing to worry about, since the rest of the stage is still quite nice.

Music is pretty an animations are smooth, quite enjoyable.

Quite the hardcore platformer, and very well put together for a solo-dev project! Took me about halfway through the experience before I understood the bell/chime motif.

The combo system was interesting in that it had consequences on the story+ending but I feel like the bell bridge undermined that aspect. But perhaps it was to make it more accessible?

I would like to criticize the slash effect not being entirely representative of your actual slash hitbox, just because most of the hurdles near the end make the assumption that the player knows of their extra 1-tile range to make the most out of their jumps.

I managed to finish the game, but I admit to slowing the game down to 60% with Cheat Engine near the end, as trying to juggle myself underneath a platform is too hardcore a skill for me to burn my fingers on mastering.

If Great Fairy Pass is the Jump King of Touhou game jam games, then this is Getting Over It with Youmu Konpaku.

Pretty and pretty fun, though I'll have to save trying to beat it for later. I'd prefer the bell ringing cooldown to be a little shorter, though I understand the appeal of brutal timing requirements.

I do not want to know how much time I spent on this game. 5/5 for challenge. No matter the rest, I'm just glad to see a climber-platformer be made for Touhou, featuring Yuyuko no less. The soundtrack is a bop too.

Did I say Yuyuko? I mean Youmu orz

The game looks and sound great, but I'm a bit conflicted about the gameplay. It's probably one of the games I spent the longest time on, but I'm not even sure if I had fun. I feel that it mostly just appeals to my stubbornness.

I gave up on the final series of jumps twice, before finishing the game on my 3rd try (and fairly quickly, too). I definitely improved a lot compared to my first play-through, and I derive some satisfaction from this, but I still mess up some of the simple single bell jumps about 1/3 of the time. I'm not sure if it's because the game is needlessly precise, or if its because hitting a bell sets your vertical velocity to different values depending on your current velocity (does it? I'm speculating on why I sometimes just don't get enough height). A job well done, nevertheless, and it makes me want to try out other modern hardcore platformers to see what the cutting edge of the genre is like these days.

I think the game looks great, plays great, and is difficult but has a satisfying game loop, kind of like Celeste! awesome.

Also it's really funny that the premise is built around tacos and bells lol

platforming is rough for me bc im bad at platforming, even though i dont think i was running the game at full speed either bc bad computer, but the game looks nice and plays well too.

this one is a mastapiece, platforming is spot on. only thing i would think about adding is a way to lock direction so you can attack in one direction and move in the other. also "there is nothing here" sign is simply cruel

its very possible to sync your bell hits to the music, which is a great feature

youmu's sprites remind me of cave story (they look really good)

I'm very not good at platformers, but those jumps sure are satisfying to get right. I like Taco Chime

It's.....toooooooo hard.

Submitted(+1)

I had a hard time hitting the bells, but it's just my bad platformer skills. I like it

Also, I like the detail in the sound of the bells, it's like they make a song when you make a combo :D

YOU HAVE TURNED MY FINGERS INTO SPAGHETTI!!!

But really nice game, but I'd wish jumps were not so-so precise, like having hit most of the bells twice, just to get high enough jump for next one. Cool visuals, nice story and bells sound, and very neat tying up combo to the story in the end.

Combo... the end... Wait a second, my 13 combo is not enough for true end? That would be nice incentive to make players play game again

Only one ending, didn't have time to make multiple!

Stupid hard, but really fun! I love the idea behind it, and getting to the end felt super rewarding - I felt like I'd gotten a handle on the timing. The way the bells ring when you hit them, and in tune when you hit them in combo really made me motivated to do the best I could.

My main concern with it is the hit detection - I got the hang of it after a while, but the timing for hitting the sword with the bells still felt a bit awkward - especially at the end, where I was hitting my head on the top of roofs a lot. I think maybe adding some more visual feedback to when you hit the bells would help a bit there.

The game is really good, honestly! Albeit...a bit hard towards the end, but I guess that's why it's fun in the first place. I'd love to see a full game on this though.

That being said...Youmu says she's going to get 24 tacos at first, but only comes back with 9...did she just eat the other 15 on the way home? 🙃

Actually, after playing once more, I've noticed that the number of tacos depends on the combo you get at the end! That's a really nice touch!

Well, that was hard, so hard and frustrating that I felt it was kind of like Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy.

I think the game is wonderful, both by it’s simplicity and also how hard it is despite being so simple. I kind of wish that some of the tutorial bells were in places that were less punishing if you failed them, but overcoming them was the best feeling.

Very cute visuals, cool music and really great concept, but some places were really hard. In the end, I got stuck here and couldn't beat the whole thing ;__;

You need to juggle yourself a bit.

The cute screenshots I saw did not properly ready me for the hardest game I've played today. The crazy stuff you have to do to get through it is insane; I must have taken 30+ minutes on beating this and I'm proud to say that I managed to beat the game.

Some tips for those who are struggling: your sword swipe hits much farther and for longer than you might think; and you can hit the same bell more than once to gain a bit more height. Overall, very challenging but cute, game. 4/5 (3rd in a row, seeing a pattern here?).
