I had some visual issues when I tried to run it. Low FPS and flickering. That might be my machine though.

Developer

Did you change the graphics settings to low?

Submitted(+1)

I did not, I'll try that next time!

Lol, this end. Now i understand of course^^

It's a fun little shooter and exactly what the title promises: guns and briefcases. I like that you always define a clear goal at the begin and increase difficulty over time. Different weapon types with different strengths and different enemy types (juggernaut is pretty strong, i needed a gun in each hand to kill them). Also the markers to the briefcase were pretty helpful a few times. And you can only complete the level when briefcase was collected.

Also like that even the explosion really can damage enemies. Just thought gun and explosion sfx sound a bit like "toys"... on the other hand it fits actually to the style^^

It's crazy how many quality settings there are at the beginning, but somehow for me the main one was missing: Whished it had continous rotations.

And strangely on very lowest setting, i had some flickering sometimes, not sure why (played standalone on Quest 2).

But all in all very fun game.

P.S.: Nothing against you, the style is nice, but for me as Unity developer it's a bit comforting, that not each game that is made with Unreal Engine automatically looks like a AAA one out of the box ;-)

Developer(+1)

I am indeed going to add continuous rotation in the future and the flickering I didn't encounter during playtesting the standalone quest 2 version, but it was added later and was not meant to be a version of the game(though I may check to see what is the issue). I do admit that shooting and explosions sound like toys but like you said: it fits the style of the game :)

Also,  about the engine, Unreal doesn't provide AAA out of the box which is a problem I encountered last VrJam(wanted realistic graphics) : it's the reason this year I went for this simple yet effective style that anyone can use. Thanks for the feedback :

Very fun to play! The enemies reminded me of Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, that's a good thing, very fun to see them ragdoll! The juggernaut was super tough! Maybe adding a little more explosion damage to those barrels would make it easier. I also appreciated the touch of allowing me to adjust the settings for the game quality right at the start, great idea! Nice game for the jam!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Ragdoll are really fun and should be part of every game as goofy as it is! Also I do know that the Juggernaut was a little too tough and I might improve this in the future. But for now I am continuing the project and making a round based zombie mode: already have rounds working plus I added guns and reloads to them. Other than that, nice that you liked the game :)

Really good presentation, i had fun shooting enemies! I ha only one problem in a level, there was a Juggernaut and i shoot at him a lot, technically his health was zero but it didn't died. Anyway really cool game!

Developer

Weird that the Juggernaut didn't die and will check if I can solve the issue but other then that, thanks for the feedback and glad you liked it :)

Unfortunately it runs very bad, so bad that I couldnt even reduce the graphics settings due to the lags :/

PcVr or Android?

Because if it is on PcVr I will upload a file to replace in the save file which will put graphics to the minimum

PCVR

Sounds great :)

Developer

File name is GunsAndBriefcases.Zip :)

Hope you like it!

Thanks for providing the files, I was now able to play it !

Cool concept and I liked the presentation with the audio and SFX.
As for the gameplay, it was a bit annoying that there is no rotate option and that you cannot shoot with right trigger.

Once you got the hang of it it was a fun and action rich experience. The levels are pretty hard aswell until you either find the pickaxe or findout that the juggernauts dont shoot when you stand right next to them ;D

I also really liked that there was a broader spectrum of guns to choose from.
Well done !

Developer(+1)

It is weird that you could not shoot with the right trigger and that there was no rotate options because it worked fine both with the android build and the pcvr build on my part but nice that you found out about the pickaxe which(little easter egg) my friend tried to pick up when playtesting so I just implemented it as a weapon of mass destruction for those curious enough to pick it up. Thanks for the feedback :)

Love the concept! The enemies are quite challenging, and ragdoll is super fun! The ending is hilarious lol  Nice game!

Developer

Ragdolls are a must in games! Glad you liked my game and yes, ennemies are quite challenging unfortunatly and the AI is sometimes kinda bugged so the heavy mini-boss can't shoot you if you're too close.

game goood but i dont feel like its optimized like for me (i have a rtx 2090 and more) it was laggy asf when playing a level :/

Developer

Did you change graphics settings because putting shadows to low or global illumination to low will make performance very good(tested on 1660Ti)

Developer (1 edit)

Also I did use lumen which is not optimize(dynamic light) because when baking light, it looked like sh*t. Also, I wanted to implement occlusion culling but with unreal it is complicated and more time consuming with culling volumes but what was your average framerate and quality settings:I would like to know for future optimization?

HOLY was that fun! What does a Game need? Guns! Stuff to shoot at! red barrels!! realy solid game, i love your art style, especially the weapons! some tacticool reloads would have been nice. thanks for letting me enjoy this game.

P.S. MR Bean would have been proud

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, unfortunatly I did not implement reloading because of time constraint but glad that you enjoyed the game, can't wait to try your game too thought I can't tonight.  :)
