Cool idea! Reminds me very much of Outer Wilds, and having a dedicated VR game in that vain would work very well (and possibly very nauseating given some of the things that can happen in that game!!)

I couldn't play all that long due to the low framerate, but it looks like an interesting concept. Keep working on it! ^^

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!  I have some ideas to improve performance, so I will move those up on the priority list.

Aww I wanted to hyper drive so bad though! Haha, fun experience. Though the planets messed with my head a bit seeing the skybox twist past as your traversed around them. First time I've seen Mario Galaxy style planets in VR!

Developer

I know, right?  Big button that says Hyper drive, and your suit's A.I. cares more about your safety than science :-).  I really love playing Super Mario Galaxy, so thank you for the huge compliment!  Hopefully this is the first of many games where we will see that mechanic.

Awesome game! I still can't figure out how you made walking on a planet so smooth

Thanks!  I spent about 30% of the time working on that part, and it was tricky, but I am rather happy with the results.   This proof-of-concept from 7 years ago provided some great tips: https://github.com/SebLague/Spherical-Gravity

great game but the controls were a bit unclear for me

Developer

Thanks for playing, and thanks for the feedback!  I will find ways to make the controls a bit more intuitive next time.

Other than the buttons snagging on me, I thought it was great. All I would've done differently was maybe spawn the ship in according to the position of the planet you were leaving? But very well done, anyways.

Developer

Thanks for playing!  It was definitely on my priority list to place the ship near the departure planet, but I ran out of time.  I never did figure out how to fix the buttons.  The way you described it sounds about right, something about being rotated causes problems, like I'm using local coordinates instead of world coordinates somewhere (though I checked that).  I'll make a better button before my next game :-).

Or just cheeese it and use a trigger collider 😂

Developer

Thank you!  I will try to find the time soon to make a Quest build.

Love the idea and being able to run fully around the planets. Would love to be able to use more of the controls in the ship, but for the 9 days I think this is super impressive! Great work! :)

Developer

Thanks!  I would also love to use more the of the controls in the ship :).
