Maybe it's just me being trash, but i can't eve pass the first level. XD

Btw, aiming with the gun (especially while moving) it's really hard

+1 Point for reminding me of the cmd's (Command Prompt) games

Submitted
  • needs some sound
  • would probably play better if you could just shoot by pressing the arrow keys
  • having the gun info in the upper corner, with the speed of the gameplay doesn’t play well… as you need to be very focused on the gameplay… but also need to read the details on the gun info… putting it as a hud right over your player would work much better
  • the proc gen levels mostly worked… had a few were there was basically no level.
  • the concept looks like something that could be interesting with some polish/etc.
  • I would like to see the gameplay slowed down a touch… taping a WASD key would often move me 2-3 ‘character’ lengths… making fine movement almost impossible.

This game was fun, some stronger visual queues could be nice but otherwise a well built game, great job!

I had a hard time aiming the bullets were flying so fast!  This changed my strategy into simply just making a mad dash for the green square; got me really far actually!

Submitted(+1)

Simple and fast-paced, the controls were intuitive though I do believe that a little indication for what direction you are shooting might be a little more helpful and the fact that our end goal is the green box since I spent too much time collecting the others. The controls feel like they are on ice but that does add to the strength of the game. Overall, you can definitely gain a lot by using a little player feedback, stuff like screen shakes, frame-freezes, etc.

Nonetheless, considering it’s a jam game, it’s a pretty solid entry and it fits the theme well. Good Job and Keep up the good work.

Meanwhile, if you would like to play my entry you can do so at https://bit.ly/glitchIn

Developer

I already played (And rated) your game, so no need to ask me again :)

And, thanks for the feedback. I will keep it in mind :)

AHHH MATH! Run! Fun frantic game awesome job.

Submitted(+1)

Very simple and fast paced. I find it easier to just avoid enemies than shooting. That's sad you had no time to add sounds :( I like that it's very clear what square is what.

Developer(+1)

even if I had time to add sound, I wouldn't have done it. The engine that I used isn't great with sound (It can't even loop music yet). Luckily there are plans to add a better sound API to this engine so maybe next jam I am able to add something to my game :)

Submitted(+1)

played! Liked the simplicity of it!

Developer

You are one of the few who didn't think it was complicated :P

Submitted(+1)

Is it randomly generated? Love it! very simple concept, feels like speed running

Developer

It is randomly generated, and if "feels like speed running" means that you feel like speedrunning it, I have bad news. There is no end :(

You can try to get a big score though :) If you do go for a big score, make sure to share it so other people have a goal to work towards :)

Submitted

Yes, but I think its a good thing ;-)

Submitted

Interesting but over-complicated

Submitted(+1)

I didn't understand anything really. Would be cool if you made the game simpler and not having to change guns and enemies having numbers on them and i shoot them and sometimes they die sometimes they dont

Developer

I agree that the game can defiantly use a better tutorial.
The numbers on enemies are their health, which may be negative in which case you need a gun that deals negative damage because guns that deal positive damage only heal them. The opposite is true for enemies which have more than 0 life.

Submitted

Thats just unneccesary complication...

Dude that's pretty scummy to say this to all games just to get yours more reviews

Submitted(+1)

sorry ill delete them now..

Developer

Personally, for as long as it is asked nicely I have no problems with it. The game is already shown at the bottom of his message anyway and everyone knows that other people want their games to be played and rated.

Submitted(+2)

That yes, but he was copy-pasting the same "haha amazing game. maybe check out my game" comment on every review

Developer(+1)

ok. That is pretty annoying

Submitted(+1)

Cool prototype!  Maybe add some sort of indicator to tell which way you are facing. Great job submitting a game~ Please check out my browser game when you can.

I had a hard time distinguishing between the next level and new gun squares, but that's probably just because my color vision sucks lol. Still a fun and simplistic game.

Developer(+1)

Actually, I just looked at the code and I noticed that my game first checks if a tile contains a gun before checking if it is the end when drawing and as I know I don't check if the tile is the end when placing the gun's in the map it may just be that you had a few times that the end tile was drawn with yellow rather than green.

Anyway, I'm happy that you enjoyed it :)

Submitted(+1)

The game feels alive even if it's made with single-colored squares. I've got to 940 in my 3rd attempt, it's fun. I didn't understand the numbers and the blue square projectiles.

Developer(+1)

with "the numbers" I'm guessing you mean those at the left corner? They are the stats of the current selected gun. So, how much damage they do and how often they can shoot. The letters underneath "Patterns" mean the patterns that your bullets follow. Every line is 1 pattern, and every letter inside a pattern stands for 1 direction the bullet goes into.

So, the pattern FR means that the bullet goes forward and then right. While BL means backwards and left.

Anyway, nice to hear that you liked it :)

Love the complexity (still got 5 stars on simplicity because of the visuals :D). Nice work! A little tutorial or more text would help. The random map algorithm is dope aswell ;)

Submitted(+1)

Very nice game, maybe little to fast for me, but that's a personal fault :p With some proper audio it would be really good.

Submitted(+1)

Nice game, so fast and smooth, No loading, Instant, It needs some sound tho :)

Developer(+1)

Sadly, sound is awkward with the current version of quicksilver.

Luckily I think that that is already improved in the new alpha version of quicksilver but that lacks font rendering... :(

So... maybe next time? :)

Submitted

Until next time then :)

Submitted(+1)

Great idea! <3

Submitted(+1)

I like the way you move the enemy squares. I take it this was procedural generation?

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

most of the time they do move in a random direction, every so often (based on random chance) they try to move closer to the player. As for the levels, yes they are randomly generated. Not exactly in an elegant way, but it works :)

Submitted

it does work, and it's something I want to learn how to do soon. The jitter was a nice minimal way to get across the enemy temperament too

Developer(+1)

Well, if you want to know how I did it, here is the file that generates the grid https://github.com/lenscas/glitch_dungeon/blob/master/src/grid/grid.rs (Warning, not nice code)

I also made https://github.com/lenscas/arena_keeper_quick/blob/master/src/structs/grid/field... which uses a module to generate a noise map and turns those values into various tiles.

Submitted(+1)

Ah thanks for that. I don't really understand it, but its appreciated. I'm  a beginner when it comes to programming and have only learnt the basics of unity and C# so far
