How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
My game is a gb file meaning it is quite gameboy styled if i do say. My game is also spooky. It follwos a lightheared spooky where there are cute monsters but a slightly scary monster at the end

I enjoyed the first spikes puzzles but I found the first boss to be too challenging even after reading the hints. The spikes on the sides were a little bit unnecessary, taking into account we didn't even know what to do. So only thing left was doding both the projectiles and the boss itself, so 3 different challenges all while not knowing exactly what to do. It's just too much for a first level boss. Saddly, I wasn't able to go further. On the other hand, the art is very cute and the game has very engaging music!
I like the concept and quite enjoyed the gameplay, the artwork is good too.
It is a little too hard for me to enjoy enough to continue playing, I couldn't get past the first boss, even after reading the hints, would have liked a little longer playing the regular game before getting there to be honest, to have more of a chance to get to grips with controlling the character.
I'd also recommend some grammar checks for the writing.
But it definitely shows promise and with a little more work I can see it being a fun game!
Awwww they mad. Big mad.
Platforming is on the slippery side, and if the precision platforming vibes I got early hold true, the slippery platforming may be a liability in the long run.
The concept of stealing their spookiness is novel. I like it.
gameplay is a a bit too hard for me, but interesting concept anyway! visuals and audio are pretty good and in the spirit of the gameboy, good job!!
the idea. the puzzle platformer like level design and the art is really well made.
while this does make it feel more like a gameboy game the character did feel a bit to hard to control fully, mainly with the fast fall which just causes some of the puzzles to just drop the ball with enjoyment. but even with this it wasn't enough to fully hinder my enjoyment with the game.
Overall this is a very solid game, I think it's a slight bit to hard and the talking sound is atrocious but again these weren't enough to make the game unenjoyable.
got stuck on the 2nd boss, and the guide didn't really help. although i do like the concept of the game
I really liked this one! It spotlights an awesome mechanic, has cool puzzles, and has bosses that require thinking. The pixel art and characters are interesting and easy to understand. The movement is very fluid and feels right with only a little practice. cant wait to play this on my hand held device!
Really creative concept and level design. But without your boss guide I probably could not have figured out how to defeat the eye guy at the tower.
Also, always having to go through all of the boss dialogue again and again after every death became quite frustrating.
But I really love the art style and the flying mechanic 🤩
Really great art and gameplay. I like the concept and dialogue too. I tried the 2nd boss many times even after reloading my save, and it doesn't seem to work for me. Also, when I first reload my save there are bars on the left and top side of the screen, but it goes back to normal if I die once.
Really love the graphics and the setup of the story here! Also really liked the gameplay - it was easy to learn the mechanics and it was fun using it!
That was charming! I really like the concept and character design; the splash screen in the intro was a good touch! The fast fall is a little awkward, but the mechanics are competent and fun to use.
The soundtrack is cool, but a little awkward. I like the musical ideas present, but there seems to be a lot of unintentional dissonance.
I got stuck on the second boss; they fell into the spikes dozens of times. I tried your suggestion below of quitting and loading the save, but it doesn't seem to change anything.
All-in-all, good work!
Cool start with very difficult enemies. The flight mechanic is done well and satisfying to figure out.
Loved the idea of monsters losing their spook. This was a really clever, simple, effective game mechanic that led to some interesting puzzle platforming situations. Tons of personality too - great job!
(Double Submission: Pooky Pet and Frankenstein Reborn)
Cool game! I got stuck on the first boss but had fun up to that point. Cool take on a celeste like game, my only suggestion would be to let me skip dialogue when repeating boss fights.
Challenging little platformer with a couple of unique movement mechanics. I'm not good enough at this to get past the first real enemy but I liked where the game was taking me!
I don't know if I'm a noob or what, but I got stuck on the first screen. I can't jump high enough to proceed...
