How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
The most obvious way we incorporated the 'spooky' theme of this year's jam is the environment and characters. You can pick between 3 classic spooky characters, a witch, vampire, and werewolf. Each character has their own special ability that will allow them to explore areas of the world the others cannot access.
There are 3 levels plus a boss. Each level has it's own spooky setting and enemies. Some of the enemies are classic horror characters, but the spookiest part about them is their behavior. If we tell you about behavior here, we'd spoil parts of the game. Let's just say there may be a jump scare or two.
Probably the least obvious way we incorporated the 'spooky' theme was by laying a few Easter eggs from some of our favorite horror films. If you spot them, let us know.
The spookiest thing we did this jam was push the 4 color palette restriction by giving each character their own palette. We are rule followers and it gives us the heebie-jeebies to bend the rules. Polyducks did say the rule was only 4 colors on the screen at one time, we're pretty sure we didn't break them.

Fantastic. I watched your devlog shorts and it's so cool seeing the final product. I loved the artwork. The final boss appearing how it did was really scary & perfect. Cant praise you enough for coming up with 3 characters and providing some replay-ability to your game!
10430 pts... Is that good? I don't know, but I enjoyed it to completion :D
I really liked the variation with the three characters and the artwork, something about the game reminded me of Atari era platformers, not sure what, but I really liked it.
Solid music, sfx and theme too.
Clowns! You know how to speak to me. Very fun game!
This was great! Really impressive you guys managed to cram 3 whole characters in, the physics were solid and responsive. There's LOADS of unique graphics for this and you guys even pulled off 3 stages plus a boss!! Great work, only complaint is the witch feels a little underpowered compared to the other two.
Never trust free candy or clown paintings, those are my lessons learned. The characters were well thought out and had very different play styles that worked very well. Excellent job all around.
What a game. It's my favorite in this gbjam until now. The most brilliant part of this game is find a way to get some candy between each characters. Level designs, gameboy nostalgia and the boss.. all great job. Cheers!
Really fun game! I wasn't a fan of the movement at first, but it definetly grew on me. I like how every character's skills are different, and even though the levels are the same, you get to play the levels completely differently. I found every character to be really run! I also really apprecieate the music sounding gameboyish. (it that makes sense) Absolutely awesome!

fun game! well made and well balanced gameplay, Good job!
such an enjoyable game.
I dont like playing as Dracula at all, loved how the witch handles its floating mechanic
I hope to see more of this game
A good and funny entry! I enjoyed the level design and the gameplay. I think though that the witch and the vampire have too similar skills.
Hey this was great!
Dracula had the most challenging jump mechanic. Werewolf was the best, breaking blocks and hitting clowns, all the stuff the makes a great haloween.
The boss fight was a delicious surprise. Great work!
The platforming section reminded me of Commander Keen games from the DOS era. The stiffness of the jump animation reminded me of Commander Keen 1-3 even, and the level design gave Commander Keen 4 vibes.
The jumps were small (at least with the werewolf), but the levels were designed so that larger jumps weren't necessary. There seemed to be areas accessible with specific characters, and a myriad of options for defeating enemies.
Quite well-rounded for 10 days of effort.
That's awesome you got Commander Keen vibes. When we were discussing doing a platformer, Commander Keen was brought up several times as a reference.
You are correct that each character has its own route through the level.
Thanks for playing our game and for commenting!
Very well executed platformer with good variety from enemies and character! was jamming a lot to the music too haha well done!
Thank you for playing and commenting. It's awesome to hear you enjoyed the music. We definitely pushed ourselves to have a variety of enemies. It was definitely a grind to get it done during the jam. Hearing you enjoyed playing makes the work worth it.
Great balance between characters, very nice design of map, characters and enemies. This game is really smooth and have awesome play feeling. Well done!
I like that all the characters have their own playstyle and the levels can still be completed with each. I liked the werewolf the best. Solid platformer, enjoyed it a lot.

Nice game! it reminds me of Super Mario Bros 2 with the character selector. The art is great, especially the environments.
Awesome game with cute characters. The music is great too.
