Amazing game! It plays and feels like a true gameboy game, especially for the time constraints it is an impressive result! The story is great and implemented really well, the graphics and music are stunning.

The text sometimes went through the border of the text boxes and when the harp is playing, the music sprite appears on the far left side of the screen where the stairs to bedroom 2 are.

This is extremely well done. The music is impeccable (I always love a bit of In the Hall of the Mountain King), the story is well done, and there's so much to do! Excellent entry!!

This game is probably the best one I have played, so far.

My notes as I was playing through this:

  • Leave it to the dog to answer your question, huh?  THAT is why you had an adventure!
  • Weird bug happens when you try to leave the mansion premisis.  Hitting a/b a couple times pushes the player back to the mansion, as though dialogue is missing.
  • When the harp starts playing a music, a music sprite can be shown on the far left side of the screen near the stairs. (bedrooom 2)
  • Complete painting glitched on me.  It only draw a single row of pixels.
  • Seems odd you can control the player during the cutscene where he talks about the painting being complete.
  • Aww, bittersweet ending.  I like it when games bother with an ending, even if it is short and to the point.
  • Too bad the final scene lacks player control.
  • "I'll take 'an' nap now, meow."
  • After finding the cat the 3rd time, text rolls outside the textbox border. Noticed some other odd character placements, including spaces after punctuation, text not lined up along the portrait, etc.  Someone will probably need to go through the game and exaimne all the dialogue.

Thanks a lot for your notes! will fix those issues in a post-jam patch :)

I bet most of us have a lot of post-jam fixing to do.  Which reminds me...

5/5 for every category, this is a great little game!
The only let down for me was the ending, I feel like we should have been given some kind of choice, two endings perhaps? Or had more of a active role in the last moments, having it play out and complete it automatically for you was a little lackluster and dissapointing after being so involved in doing everything else.
But otherwise an incredibly solid entry, loved the art, the gameplay, the puzzles, narrative, concept and especially the music.

Awesome job guys!

As someone else mentioned already, I don't believe you are told that you've been given a piece after completing the harp section, you just comment that it's a lovely piece of music and move on. I also found the E&B first before even talking to the daughter, so she just took it the first time I interracted with her and she gave me her piece, it wasn't till the end of the game I realised who it was, needs to be a way of stopping us getting the E&B until after talking to her, or having her initial conversation play out even if we have found those items so that it makes sense.

Thanks a lot for playing and for your feedback !

Ideally the ending could have been a boss battle instead of only a cutscene if there was a bit more time to make it (which would also have given more use to the lantern shooting mechanic). Indeed, it was supposed to tell you that you've received a piece of the painting, it's a bug that will be fixed in the post-jam version along with some other bugs.
Good point about the daughter's dialogue, it would make more sense if the intro conversation was always played when first talking to her, will fix that too!

I look forward to playing the full experience 🙂

A very well-crafted experience.

Even the spooky rendition of some classical music I don't know the name of was a nice touch. Very fitting for a haunted manor.

Almost forgot Vexa drawing under some of the ground out to the right of the car, the rest was so good.

Loved this game.

Very cute game, with a charming story and pretty art too! I also liked the soundtrack, specially the harp song, but I wish there were only original tracks rather than remixes. But overall a very polished experience, well done to the team!

Ghosts, Lamps, and Puzzles. A charming soundtrack. This shows a lot of promise. Plenty of Puns and a story fitting the gamestyle. You cannot pet the dog. 10/10 experience

Nice short game. I wish the ghosts would appear all over the manor instead of jumpscaring though. The puzzle design is good though I couldn't recall if any painting piece were found/given after solving harp puzzle.

Cool project, very brilliant  idea. Love the harp moment. Nice design of characters and graphic, also music fits very well! AND THERE IS THE DOG, BIG PLUS :D
Solid work, congrats.

The game is really good! I loved the music as well as the environment. I could definitely see this being released to the Gameboy during my childhood!

really great graphics and music

An ambitious little game with a lot of promise and a few bugs, but overall a well made project! The story is well-written, and the game is mechanically deep. 100% recommend.

Really well done

I haven't finished it yet, plan to try again tomorrow. But first impressions: you made a very cool ghost hunting/detective game. It has the right ratio of fun and spooky. Graphics are pleasant too.

I got stuck at the harp cause I though I remembered the song notes from the library but alas. Couldn't exit from playing it to go check the note again (blimey!).

Thanks a lot for playing !
For the harp scene, there's a bug where the choice dialogue to get out of the scene if you forgot is there bug doesn't show.
(you can get out of it by pressing B -> Down arrow -> A)
