Thank you! Sorry for the troubles with the jump. Check out the pause menu by pressing P, you can see the control scheme there and use the leap ability to get past the door on the starting area!

Wow this game is amazing, I love it! Graphics, audio, and gameplay are all great, the dialogue is pretty funny, and it has an awesome storyline
I hope you work on this a bit more. One thing I thought was missing is some sort of visual cue for the hooking mechanic, and I wish I'd seen your message about fullscreen before xD, but other than that you did an incredible job on this game, one of my favorites so far!
Well, I didn't do anything special, the battle had just begun and I was shooting at him, I'm using Chrome
I tried again and it now crashed near the end of the second boss :( I was just playing (moving and shooting)
so I got some more feedback for you instead :P
It'd be cool to shoot the asteroids in the first area
The sprite work is awesome, but all the enemies and bosses have the same paintwork and end up looking kind of the same
you could bump up the speed of all things in the game to make it more fast and snappy
And one last thing that would've been great was being able to change your ship after dying, kind of like arcade shmups
because you already have different playable ships, but you have to start the game each time to try them out!
best of luck to you mate :D
Oomphh, looks amazing, but I keep getting my crosshair locked to the character and I can't aim
I played a little like this and looks really cool, the sprites and art direction are superb, and I thought the implementation of the theme was fun and creative. Please let me know if you can fix the aiming issue, i'd love to play the full game!
Great entry! Everything is super polished, the gameplay is so satisfying
I'm genuinely impressed that one person did this
at first I thought you could use the shadows to avoid getting hit by the bullets, but that wasn't the case
Still enjoyed the gameplay, and the art and music are pretty good too!
One of the most solid games I've played so far in the jam :D nice stuff
surprisingly deep entry with a lot of cool systems like upgrades, a shop, randomized levels, dialogue system and so on. The sprites are amazing, and I really like the direction this game wants to go
My only real gripe is what everyone else has already said, there was an enemy that showed only once (the one which attacks portions of the player area), I died at room 46 :( I also managed to buy the red gem and used it accidentally before leaving the shop (idk, it's weird that you don't know what it does before you buy)
Thanks! You should try again! There's another boss after the flail boss :P
The awesome concepts for the enemies and symbols were done by the composer, Mystro, while I did the final art you see in the game
We definitely spent way too much time adding features and polishing the concept, so that's a lesson learned, but we still have high hopes for the game, and we plan to continue development in the near future
Really fun and solid gameplay, the punchy soundtrack definitely fits the style of the game. The enemy has a nice difficulty ramp and it gets really challenging by the end, I got a B rank lol
I would have liked to see more attacks that place blocks and maybe a bit more work on some sprites (visual style is great)
I read just below that you were focusing on art and polish for this game, and wow, I think you nailed it. All the mechanics feel solid and fun, the art looks great and is well-realized, there's a strong style on display and I really love it. The weapons are all satisfying to use, I just thought Barracuda was too op for the 2nd Boss (you can just spam to win), and also you can just jump behind the final boss and shoot it until you win :(
As others have said, the concept is great. I think you did a fantastic job with the gameplay feel and graphics, it looks very polished. I find it impressive that you managed to create a tileset with floor tiles at such a low resolution and still have recognizable objects and entities, it's just not something you see every day. The gameplay did lack depth though, enemies don't move and there's barely any real challenge. It does feel pointless after some time. Walking mindlessly through the darkness, earning money, killing creatures that don't react, as some sort of dark joke from the developer. Pretty nihilistic if you ask me. It's probably not what you intend, but I like it! Reminds me of one of my projects, maybe we should work together :P
Fun little game with great ideas. I like that there's an outside entity speaking to you as you play, I think it's a simple but powerful mechanic for story-telling, and works great on this game. I wish you'd get more lines per level, instead of having to complete the level to finish a sentence, so that it feels as if the AI is actually conversing with you. I'd really like to see this game expanded with new mechanics and interactions between the narrator and the player
I did some of the art for this game, and honestly, I have no idea why it looks this way. I told them the ship's interiors should be all black, and the exteriors white, kind of like what you see in the first image
I had a lot of fun making these sprites, and if the creator of the game wants to see this through, I can work with a more experienced programmer to bring his vision to life :D Cheers!
