Description
Hi all! After taking a loot at the theme's I decided to base my album on the words "Inside my World," of a game where a girl named Mia is taken to a world in the clouds.

I composed the music in a classical style and orchestration, featuring instruments such as violins, a flute, Celeste, percussions, and others. To create the themes, I first started out at the piano and got some simple themes, then built them out and joined them into a working series of songs. After many set backs and annoying blockage, I got the whole album runtime around 6 minutes. I found some inspiration in songs from Undertale, Stardew Valley, and Ori and the Blind Forest.

To create the album, I used my favorite DAW, LMMS, and orchestration instruments from the BBC Symphony pack.

Story: Mia is wisped up into the clouds after finding some wings that belonged to her grandma. Once there, Mia finds that there is a evil creature trying to capture the Sky crestal, which provides the magic to the world. She set off on a adventure to defeat him and save the World in the Clouds.

Description and order of tracks:

1# Main Theme: The Main Theme runs in the title menu and when major story elements are playing out.

2# A Journey in the Clouds: The song that plays when you are wondering the world and clouds. This song is designed to be looped.

3# Mia's Theme: This track plays when Mia is talking and when there story elements present. It is also played in the beginning when Mia enters the world of clouds.

4# Danger in the Wind: The song runs when an enemy chases, encounters Mia, and is near her.

5# Battle for the Crystal: This song plays at the final battle for the crystal where Mia and the evil creature battle.

Chosen theme: I based the theme of my album off of the theme words "Inside my world". The theme of the game and music is set in a world in the clouds. It is a platformer/flying game with elements of battling and upgrading.

Ahem... if you try to describe your magnificent soundtrack in one word...

"Fairies"

Thanks!
Developer

Beautiful! What a way to describe my songs!

Very good work! It definitely gave me the sound of a world in the sky. Great orchestration work in every piece. I specially enjoyed the first track.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I suppose working hard on it paid off haha.

Submitted(+1)

Your music is full of magic, It sounds lovely! Great work :)

Submitted(+1)

I liked the horns you introduced in the Battle for the Crystal! It gave that track a lot more of its own identity to stand out as what I am assuming is a boss track.

Developer

Cool! YEs, you are correct. That was the boss soundtrack. Good ear. Yah, I liked the horns too. Thanks for listening.

Gorgeous orchestration throughout this - fantastic work. Great use of various articulations and some good examples of trading off of melodies across different instruments. I think my favorite track is probably the Main theme - some memorable melodies in here and plenty of variety in leads. Close second is Battle for the Crystal - the tonal shift in this is really nice and a welcome change of pace.

Fantastic job overall - good production, arranged well and all in all very cohesive. Best of luck!

Developer

Thank you so much! The main theme was the first one that I composed and had a lot of fun, and drawbacks, while making it.

You make everything sound so whimsical and airy! Wonderful atmosphere you’ve made here!

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

I honestly think you did perfect on this! It sticks to the theme very well. And I can't remember exactly which instruments you used, but the most impressionable part was when you doubled the melody with the basses and xylophone. So clean!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! It was hard since I had never done a theme oriented track before. Thank you for listing and replying!

Very cute submission! Loved the "fairyness" of all the tracks :D

Developer

Thanks! And thank you for listening and replying!

This is lovely! This perfectly conveys a feeling of just being whisked up into the air. Really nice orchestration that I wouldn't doubt for a second will fit nicely into a video game. Great work :D

Developer

Thank you! I really enjoyed your music as well.

A really nice and atmospheric OST with an interesting story, nice work! I like your choice of instruments, it makes the OST feel more lightweight and floaty if that makes any sense lol. I'm glad you were able to get this entry in!

Overall just some good tracks with a nice atmosphere and fun story, great work here!

That's all I have to say really, have a great day! :D

Developer

Thank you for listening and replying! The first thing I do is always to try and figure out the best instrument choice, and this time it just came together.

Main Theme: You do a great job in this piece keeping all the instruments moving, which feels like various breezes or gusts of wind blowing around at the same time. The cymbal crashes help give some heroism to the track making it feel right for a main theme.

A Journey in the Clouds: This is a light and airy theme which certainly adds to the main idea of ascending to the clouds. High strings and pizzicato style are nice for this type of sound.

Mia’s Theme: The flute and high strings with celeste work really nicely together. I also really like the chimes glimmering occasionally throughout.

Danger in the Wind: Having some lower register instruments adds some weight which makes the danger feel a little more in reach. I like the interplay between the strings and flute and then when they come together with the celeste it feels chaotic because of the rhythm, but organized because of the unison monophony.

Battle for the Crystal: The tension in the harmony helps this feel like a battle theme that would fit a game possibly similar to Pikmin in that maybe the battle isn’t super fast-paced, but there is constant danger present. I like the addition of brass instruments and bass drum to represent the evil creature.

Overall: Your compositional style lends itself really well to the story you have created. I like the combination of strings, flute, celeste, and percussion that isn’t too heavy. You are able to create a variety of emotions as demonstrated in each of your five tracks that feel like a complete story. Well done and thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much for listening and replying! Wow, this is a great breakdown of all my songs.  Great reply!

Super nice! Your instrumentation created this lovely floating feel, using all these breathy and resonant instruments like the flute and and glockenspiel matched your theming so well, and I really liked all the interlocking lines in Battle For The Crystal, the movement helped create an added layer of intensity!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yes, the first thing that I wanted to do was to be able to create a inter weaving theme that ran through all the songs. Good hear on catching them!

Submitted(+1)

Wow! I feel like you captured the journey into the clouds perfectly with your choice of instruments. the whole orchestration feels "lightweight" and I felt really helped get into your theme! Then the escalation on Danger in the Wind, the Main Theme and Battle for the Crystal just added substance in a great way. Only nitpick I would have is that I feel there's some need for more humanization of the instruments as they feel a bit rigid, but it's super minor. I really enjoyed your submission!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Great catch on the nitpick. That is for sure something that needs to be addressed.  Thank you for the advice on that!

Submitted(+1)

The calming emotions your music evocate in "A Journey in the Clouds" and "Mia's Theme" is wonderful!!

I love how you portrait a rich world with very little amount of instruments.

Very nice!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. Yah! Someone finally liked those two songs, they were my favorite when I was composing them.

Submitted(+1)

It's great to see someone else make their world in the clouds! Your music definitely has that feeling of flying through a sea of clouds. I can certainly hear the inspiration from Ori and it fits very nicely.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yah, the moment I saw the theme the idea of something in the clouds was the first thought. Again, I really enjoyed your songs as well.

Submitted(+1)

Great orchestration here!

I like the use of the glockenspiel throughout all tracks, it gives this whole album a great cohesiveness. My favorite theme will have to be Mia's Theme. I liked the use of the flute and violins in that piece. I do think the flute can be slightly equalized as some times the high frequencies are a bit too harsh to the ear but it's nothing that can't be fixed quickly!

Overall, this was a great submission, every piece had great orchestration. Keep it up!

Developer

Thank you a lot! Indeed, the flute needs to be equalized! Thanks for pointing that out. I shall fix it. Thank you, I really liked yours as well.

Submitted(+1)

Love Mia's theme! The energy reminds me of Chrono Trigger and some rpgs on the ps1

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Finally, someone liked my favorite one of the album! Cool, those are good games, I guess they do sound like them haha.

Submitted(+1)

Very light and fluffy tracks, just like clouds.

I liked your choice of instrumentation too.

And congrats on getting this done despite setbacks!

Favorite Track: Danger In the Wind

Developer

Thanks! Indeed, there were many setbacks from how to do the themes to finding a theme for all the songs! Danger in the Wind is defiantly becoming a favorite among you all! Wow!

Submitted(+1)

Wonderful and cute theme with a nice orchestration!

Loved the consistency in orchestration and those arrpegios :)

Maybe you should work a bit the mix, i think thats the only issue here !

Good job ^^

Thank you!
