- good minimalistic pixel art style. I liked little Arthur.
- the jump took a little too much time to load
- The jump feel can be a little tighter
- fun core mechanic
- the game can be improved by audio
could do with more polish but it was still one of the submissions I had the most fun with. It's just the type of game I like.
Thanks for the feedback. I couldn't agree more with what you said about the game lacking "oomph". I completely forgot about SFX until the last day of the jam when I tried to add them and then realized I didn't know what I was doing. I am currently in the process of figuring out how to improve the feel of my games by making super simple games and polishing them as much as I can. if you have any resources to share on this subject, they would be appreciated.
In the grandma mini-game, you don't have to click on each item of clothing and then the color. Instead, you need to choose the correct color from the row on the right side of the screen that corresponds to the item's order.
This comment is exactly what I was waiting for. You brought up problems with the game that I hadn't thought about and confirmed some of my suspicions about other issues.
Thank you for taking the time to write this comment.
I recognized your profile picked from the pirate software jam and decided to play your game and I wasn't disappointed. I loved the contrast between the game's tone at the start and the end. the polish was so good it made walking interesting. The minigames were cute and creative which made the transition in tone between day and night more effective. you didn't present the player with long walls of text to read you passed the story well. good job :)
Weird movement, but I kind of liked it. The enemy AI had some issues, and certain enemies were difficult to hit. The player needs more invincibility frames, sometimes when you get hit by an enemy or spikes, they hit you repeatedly until you're dead. There were drops where you couldn't see the bottom, which killed you when you jumped in, while others didn't, which is confusing and frustrating. The art was very good. Overall, it's a good game with some parts that are more annoying than hard, but nothing major that stopped me from playing the game and reaching the treasure at the end.
Becoming the enemy you kill in each level caught me off guard the first time, and the different enemy/player selections were amusing. It got repetitive towards the end, but seeing what the next enemy and weapon would be kept me playing (the final enemy and weapon were my favorite). It would be cool if each enemy had a unique ability that gives you a different challenge to overcome within the same level layout.
I liked the bosses they were a nice addition I felt like they came in too late in the game and my form was so strong at that point that they weren't really a problem. the only nitpick I can think of is that it wasn't clear what the stats upgrades would do for example I thought that increasing the attack speed would reduce the cooldown between attacks and not make the attack move faster. maybe you can add a more in-depth explanation when hovering over the upgrade. but really as a jam game, it is as good as it gets: cute idea, good art direction, and solid polish what more do you need from a jam game.
And the game was running well when I used Chromium instead of Firefox.
- Good character art
- I liked the variety of the tasks you are given.
- It was playing as a town folk preparing for the hero's return and not the hero.
- When you are walking your character can get under objects. you can try and use y sorting to fix this.
- The arrows were very helpful.
A very relaxing cute game, good job.
- The pixel art is cute.
- I liked the little gnome.
- I encountered a few bugs: sometimes a mushroom or tree would spawn on my gnome hut and I couldn't pick it up, and one time the gnome got back to the hut with wood and the gnome didn’t put it in, which broke the game I couldn’t pick up any new items or put the item I had in the gnome hut.
The cover image drew me in instantly and the game didn't disappoint. The art was good, the game was juice, and it had the best take on the theme of any game I have played so far. The only nitpick I have is that the game is too easy, but I can see that being intestinal gives you the feeling you are terrorizing this small village, but it does get boring after a while. Still a great fun game with a clever take on the theme.
- Good art. I especially liked the design of the enemies and the player.
- The lighting added to the atmosphere of a dark forest you should avoid walking through.
- The camera had some problems. In some parts I could barely see the danger below me, so I couldn’t know if there were spikes below me or if the hole I was standing next to would get me to a new area or kill me.
- The level was impressively big for a jam game, especially for one that was made by one person.
- I wish there was a timer and a dev time to give me a reason to replay the game again.
- The game was a bit hard for me to control. The character was moving too fast for me and the wall jump was a bit clunky (but you didn’t have to use it much so it wasn’t a problem).
- I loved the enemy head jump animation. It is really charming.
Overall, a good game. It is just a day of polish away from being great.
Fun game. I played it a few times and got a 35 second run. I wish it was longer and explored the mechanics more (But this is expected from a jam game. You only have so much time to make your game). A main menu and a replay button on the end screen would be nice, so you won't have to open and close the game page when you want to play again to try and get a better time. Over all, a good submission.
Good job for beating level 9.
Are there any things you think could be improved?
How have you found my game?
There was a sudden spike in views when I opened my games page today. I'm guessing something must have happened but I can't figure out what so I was wondering if you know since you are the last person to leave a comment on my game since then.
