Thanks for submitting your game to the stream. If you wanted to look at it again in the future heres the vod timestamped to your game
thank you. it was fun watching someone play my game.
Interestingly done! I liked that the wolf had so much transfer in stories, however I found some of the minigames to be exceedingly difficult. The wolf run one was pretty easy, but the finding the pig, grandmas clothing and staying in line i had a hard time with.
* Finding the Pigs - I got the concept, but what kinda threw me was there wasn't feedback on what we were to do? When I learned it was blowing air I thought it was aiming the wolf as it was blowing air or to drag past the house to blow it down, but once i got that you are clicking the houses it made more sense.
* Grandmas Clothing - I liked the concept, but I just cant click that fast to change all of the clothing and I was on level 1 lol.
* Staying in line - another one that I just think needed some feedback. I died quite a few times to it at first until I got the timing right on when the sheep actually started moving.
Overall I believe my high score was about 280? or in that ballpark.
the more comments I get the more I see the same issues pop up and I am learning a lot of important lessons about game difficulty and the need to assume less and convey information clearly to the player.
thanks for the feedback it is very helpful.
Interesting minigames. I wonder if the one with colors should be made more accessible, such as for people who may be color blind, by also using symbols in the colors or something like that.
Also I see selecting each level is mostly just making them more difficult but it's the same level.
Wonder if the levels should be different instead if there's a level select .
Or maybe it should have been instead conveyed another way if it was just getting faster on same level.
using colors in the memory min-game was an oversight I should have used patterns instead. the numbers in the mini-game selection screen are meant to represent difficulty levels I need to make that more clearly.
thanks for the feedback.
I like the idea of using different folk tales around a single creature. Implementing so many different minigames must not have been easy.
The game is pretty fun, though having sa single health point feels a bit unforgiving.
All in all still a pretty impressive game considering the time limit and one that feels coherent despite the various minigames.
Whishing you the best on your gamedev journey!
Thanks for the feedback it is very helpful. You brought up some good ideas for improving the game.
I see you created some minigames too, nice!
All of them are cool concepts, but I think they're not very polished. I don't know if I'm just an horrible gamer - probably - but for me all the minigames were too fast. I also didn't notice that you could see the tutorials on level select until I read the description, so I got a bit stuck. If it's not just me, I think it needs balance, and of course more of game juice and feel.
In the visual part, the graphics are good and funny (that grandma model is amazing lol). Music is great too, but I felt that there are some sound effects missing.
Overall, you did a nice work, with some changes this will be even funnier to play :D
This is an interesting collection of minigames. While there's some fun to be had here, I can't help but feel you may have spread your efforts too thin across too many ideas for one jam: there's no "oomph" to any of the games, and I think just a little bit of player feedback (sheep baaing when you fail the sheep game, demolition sounds when a house comes down, the patter of paws while the wolf runs, etc.) would have carried it a lot. That feedback loop to the player is so important and impactful.
That being said, just getting this many mechanics working with art in such a limited time is impressive, and I did have fun playing each of the games. Least favorite was dressing the wolf; I didn't feel like there was enough time to accurately select the articles of clothing once I was on the screen to do so. Perhaps instead of clicking on the clothing, then clicking on the color, there should have just been a column of colors for each piece of clothing. That way I don't have to jump back and forth between the two sides of the screen.
Overall honestly a refreshing break from most jam entries that are based on narration and dialogue. I enjoyed having a frenetic moment of gameplay in all of it. Well done, and thanks for giving us a game to play!
Thanks for the feedback. I couldn't agree more with what you said about the game lacking "oomph". I completely forgot about SFX until the last day of the jam when I tried to add them and then realized I didn't know what I was doing. I am currently in the process of figuring out how to improve the feel of my games by making super simple games and polishing them as much as I can. if you have any resources to share on this subject, they would be appreciated.
In the grandma mini-game, you don't have to click on each item of clothing and then the color. Instead, you need to choose the correct color from the row on the right side of the screen that corresponds to the item's order.
This comment is exactly what I was waiting for. You brought up problems with the game that I hadn't thought about and confirmed some of my suspicions about other issues.
Thank you for taking the time to write this comment.
I can think of at least a couple videos related to gamefeel you might enjoy; I've sent you a discord friend request so as not to clog this place with links. Cheers!
I didn't read the instructions on the webpage so spent several session bewildered. And then once I got what to do I was terrible at most of them so really appreciated being able to go to them individually. Great job!
Fun minigames but the sheep thing was too hard for me lol
Hey, congratulations on having managed to implement so many different mechanics in such a short time!
For me, the most fun was Grandma's colors, it challenged me.
I only managed to win the sheep one once, it seems like I'm a very noticeable wolf 😁
Thank you, but the real hard part was not implement the mini-games but making all the assets for them. The grandma mini-game is my favorite as well it is what made me what to make this game in the first place.
Nice selection of minigames
I stuck to the Minigames section as unfortunatly Play was imposible for me, I'm red-green colourblind so couldn't get through the Grandma levels in Play, if you can add distinct patterns as well as colour it would help
Thank you for playing even though my game wasn't accommodating. I will keep the color issue in mine for my next game.
Thank you, to be clear it would put you ahead of most games if you did consider it. I did enjoy the Grandma levels as minigames, it was funny spotting how I was wrong when I could see them side by side :)
I'm glad you found a way to enjoy the grandma mini-game. I know the feeling you're talking about. I feel the exact same way when I play skribbl.io with my friends and I know the answer but can't type it correctly (I am dyslexic).
It's funny, but I don't think I fully understand the pig game, or it's too difficult for me haha
Good job!
In the pig game you can only destroy the houses that are not made of bricks (like in the fable of the three little pigs). To destroy a house you need to click on it and drag.
aaaa I missed the mouse dragging
I've added a short explanation of the mini-games to the jam page, now it's available for the next person who tries to play the game.
There is a short tutorial before a game if you play it through the mini-game selection screen.
