You totally have the skill set and eye for making a high quality game. I wish you many more successful and primarily fun game jams and some day to find the resources and muse to decide for a commercial title to work on! Best of luck~

I love this game. The art style and execution is such high quality. Character designs, texturing, animations - absolutely well done! Love it being a little puzzle game and it's very clever to do this type of "controller". Love the little details like looking around a bit in the scene when hovering the cursor close to the screen edges, or the hidden puzzle hints and environmental storytelling. I'd rate it way up in fun and mechanics than it ended up with the ratings. But at least the aesthetics rating is absolutely correct! Great submission, would love a bigger commercialized game like this!
You flatter me. And yeah, definitely good to separate features into different priorities (especially in a jam), it just easily gets too much if not setting the main focus on the gameloop essential features and possibly the polish of the hook. Learnings and new ideas are the best about doing jams, so I wish you the best of fun success with upcoming game jams!
It's great you have this relationship and shared passion for game dev. I hope to see plenty more from you guys! This submission is so polished I was surprised it was the only game on your itch pages. I hope I can get the Music Stand update out for Brian's turn on the game so you guys can finally play and see the full gameloop and ending. Thanks for the chat, hope to see more from you guys, possibly crossing paths again at some future game jams!
I love the design choices for this tower defense. And you chose great assets to go with your work. I like the idea of having to manage multiple sub-areas. It looks quite polished.
The tower placing itself would feel more natural (in my opinion) with clicking on the spot for the tower, it being highlighted and then showing the tower options with the prices that with a click put it on the already selected locationn. I imagine you were stressed by time with implementing mechanics for these things though! It's quite the ambitious game for the scope of this game jam but you did absolutely great!
Very kind, thank you!
We'll do an update for the actual gameloop to be playable and also replayable with some randomization. I'm currently working on a bunch of coding missing but the assets are basically all there since within the jam time. But other than that it will not become a long or even mid term project though. Nontheless, Yän, Kitty and I are sure to make more games (even if just jam games) that can be expected to have similar quality in visuals, sound design and level design, as well as always aiming for interesting mechanics~
What a fun little game! The sprites you picked out go well together with your creations.
Sometimes the explosions look a bit smaller than their (collision) range with the player ends up being. I'd suggest to make the collider in comparison to the sprite rather slightly smaller and thus more forgiving than unexpectedly big.
I will say I was probably also just overly greedy waiting right next to the explosions to pick up the money.
I love the idea - the story with the grumpy old witch that denies social interactions but then discovers more and more that it's okay to accept help and other people into her life. I also love all the art. It's just confusing that the art style switches multiple times: one chibi-head art style when standing, another one for walking with A/D and another one for the dialogue portraits. Technically I like them all but I don't like that they are mixed. I looked at your instagram, you are an absolutely incredibly artist!
