This is a very unique and cool submission, props for not having used assets, well done! :D

About the controls, they indeed felt a bit unintuitive because of the way they work, beginning with the way you move the camera. You could do this in two ways, pressing a button (holding the mouse wheel in this case), or capturing the mouse inside the game's window and directly using that for a smoother feel. But the thing is, the way it spins feels inverted. Since this varies a lot depending on each user, I'd add "invert horizontal" and "invert vertical" as toggle settings.

You also explain very well the game's objective and rules, but you don't mention how to actually get there, so a bit of a introduction for the jumping system should be there.

Cheers! :D

Developer(+2)

Hey thank you for your kind words and suggestions. Inverting the cam rotation from what it is in the jam build was one of the first things I did for the new version. Honestly already wanted to before the build but kinda forgot in the hurry.

Just capturing the mouse for camera control doesn't work in this particular game because the controls depend on you clicking on spots in the room relative to your character position. So your target position to aim for with your mouse cursor would constantly shift just by moving your mouse. So it had to be with holding down a key.

It totally would make sense to place some world canvas with the controls or some button prompts when you first start the game so you know that you have to use your mouse to control your character, that holding down the button makes you go further and that you can spin in the air.
I think I'll do that for the updated version.

Thanks again and have a beautiful day :)

Thank you for the reply, you too, and good luck with the project! :D

I loved this game so much, it is fun and the graphics are incredible, I am more impressed by the fact that you didn't use any existing assets, you might be very good at team work. Great work!

Developer(+2)

Aww I'm so glad you had fun! Thank you for the really nice comments! I personally like to only use my own created things, otherwise it doesn't feel like mine! Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+3)

What a lovely take on the theme! I really enjoyed checking this one out! I found the controls less intuitive, but overall this was a cool and well-made experience.

Developer(+2)

Thank you for your comment. What do you think could make the controls more intuitive to you personally? I'm currently thinking of adding a jump arc that gets displayed as you hold down the mouse button to charge. Do you think that would help to make it feel more intuitive or did you have other problems that made the controls difficult to get into or understand?

Submitted

I think some kind of projected direction/arc would be great! I wasn't always sure where I would be going when I released the most, especially if I had been rotating the camera as well.

What a fun experience! The game features superb mechanics and captivating artwork, creating a unique challenge that I couldn't get enough of. Awesome job!

Developer

Thank you! We're happy you enjoyed it.

Submitted(+3)

I really hope your team continues to develop this because it is a very intriguing concept and the visuals, music, sound and environment look fantastic! A very interesting take on the point and click genre!

Developer(+1)

Very kind, thank you!

We'll do an update for the actual gameloop to be playable and also replayable with some randomization. I'm currently working on a bunch of coding missing but the assets are basically all there since within the jam time. But other than that it will not become a long or even mid term project though. Nontheless, Yän, Kitty and I are sure to make more games (even if just jam games) that can be expected to have similar quality in visuals, sound design and level design, as well as always aiming for interesting mechanics~

Submitted(+1)

That's awesome! I look forward to your update on this and your future projects.

Submitted(+3)

The animation for the music stand is amazing! Congratulations on that, a really interesting way to move around. A really great looking game that feels like a new take on point-and-click adventures.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your amazing feedback! A novel point-and-click control scheme was certainly the intention so it's wonderful you enjoy it! I personally had a lot of fun making the player animations look silly. ^^

Submitted(+3)

This is so cute! I think this is one of the most creative interpretations of the theme I've seen so far, and I would love to play this game (when it's playable haha).

Developer

Thank you, creativity while being on theme surely is one of the biggest praises! Working on the playable version~ should be out this month (hopefully next week).

Submitted(+3)

Congrats on your submission!  Shame about the bugs because the game looks amazing.  When I couldn't interact, I came to the game page to figure out what I was doing wrong and saw there was game breaking bugs.  Can't wait to see the finished product. :)

Developer(+1)

Awww, can't wait for it to be finished soon too. Thanks for the patience. We might have overscoped a little for the jam deadline but we'll get it done soon~ Thanks for the praise, Kitty and Yän did a great job with the visuals!

Submitted(+2)

I made a poor attempt to play your game here :)

Developer(+2)

Thanks so much for playing and giving our game time on your stream! Your ability to play is more hindered by our buggy gameplay than anything else. :) Looking forward to getting our post-jam build uploaded ^^

Submitted(+3)

I like how holding down makes you jump farther, and many other things. The story in the beginning sets the atmosphere well. Lots of details on the visuals, sound and music. I think you did a really nice job on this submission!

Developer

Thanks a lot for paying attention to all these things and the nice comment!

Submitted(+2)

It's a shame about the bugs, because I can tell a lot of passion and love went into building this one. Gorgeous 3D assets, wonderful background voice-over with the music and everything, all supporting a very charming concept! Texture artists often get overlooked, so I'd also like to give some special praise to whomever did the textures! Love that painted look.

Awesome job, all of you!

Developer(+1)

Oh, thank you so so much, that's very kind of you to give us so much praise. Really happy you appreciate my texturing work too :) Doing these paintings was very fun!

If you want, we can let you know when we've got a fully playable version :)

Submitted

Ah, in that case, I'll just add it to my collection :)

Need any help debugging? I've worked with Unity off and on for 5 years

Developer

Thanks you! We got it though. It's basically just me finishing player interactions now and the AI stealth system but that is very doable.

Hey guys, you have amazing art, cinematics, graphics, animations, sound, and music! And the mechanics as I understand them (couldn't play of course) sound really cool!

I hope you can get it up in running. You still have about a day and a half...

I rated you guys high on everything (lowest ones were 4 stars) anyhow because if you guys did this good with what you have I can only imagine what the finished game would be like.

Steam I assume?

Great Job!

Developer

Thank you so much, that's really great rating! We put a lot of effort into everything and are looking forward to update it, possibly in a week but we've given up on doing it during the voting phase

I don't think we'd commercialize this game. But we are humbled!

Submitted(+1)

I understand, I'm pretty tired myself... Just trying to get through the next couple of days playing games...

Submitted(+3)

Such a cute little music stand! Had a lot of fun hopping around (after a couple of minutes figuring out how to do so 🙃).

So you guys are working on fixing it post-jam, right? I'll be really looking forward to play it.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and leaving your kind comments! I'm happy to hear you fiddled around and figured it out! :D

Yes! We are definitely working on fixes! Thank you for your interest! ^^

Submitted(+3)

This was such a cool experience to play! I never thought I'd get to be a stand running around while I hear musicians playing such a cool concept and twist on the theme! The cinematics upfront were great too. Really glad I got to play this! Awesome work

Developer(+2)

Aww you're too kind. Thank you a lot for your heartwarming comment. Really pays off to have my generic cutscene script I can just drop into any game jam game, so making cinematics like this is just a breeze ^^
I'm glad people like you are being so nice to us even though we clearly didn't manage to get our game to be fully playable in time. So thank you again for that.

Submitted(+3)

Amazing work ! The game looks and feels very professional ! Everything from the art to the animations to the gameplay and sound design really bring the game together. I really enjoyed the movement mechanics, I’ve never seen something quite like it. I just wished there was more of the game to experience. I had a lot of fun.

Developer(+2)

Wow! Thank you so much for your amazing comment!! I'm so glad you enjoyed our experience and all the unique aspects we worked hard to add! Stay tuned for more game loop experience :)

Submitted(+3)

This is a really interesting and unique concept! And I would love to play it again once those bugs are sorted out, I really want to interact with all objects and see what happens. The art, animations, and music is just awesome, great work on this!

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind comment! There is even more animations, art and music currently not showing because the interactions don't work. But we're on it!

Submitted (2 edits) (+3)

This is a very inventive take on the theme. And this is a beautiful game with a movement system unlike any other. The game however is very short, and every time I play it I have to watch the long opening cutscene (which is wonderfully shot and voiced). I also had trouble understanding the goals of the game and if i was interacting with objects correctly. I love this character though. He's so charming! Also the animations! Wow! You really gave life to an object.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and leaving such a kind comment! I think the main reason why it's pretty confusing right now is that there are presently some major bugs with the AI and the interaction system that don't let you finish the game (object interaction is simply not working at all because of this). But hey, they also make it impossible to lose the game so at least it's kind of a fun little sandbox haha :D

We may realize our vision at some later point by fixing the game. I'm glad the character is already hitting the mark for you hehe

Cutscene can be skipped through with right click by the way.

Submitted(+1)

omg woops! I can't believe I didn't even try to right click, sorry!

Developer(+1)

Ah no need to be sorry, we forgot to write it into the controls section on the jam page. I added it now :)
