Thanks for trying it out and for playing through it twice to get both endings! :)

Cool platformer puzzle game! I liked the music and sound effects. There is some inconsistency in the art style but great work otherwise!

Neat concept. The tutorial was very well executed. Great music, sound effects, and art. The whole game looks and feels very polished. Well done!

Fantastic graphics and you’ve got a neat concept here.

I also noticed that the Options button did not appear to work. Not sure if it was my computer’s problem or not but I noticed there weren’t any sound effects. Adding those will help make your submissions feel more alive and give it that polished feel.

Well done for your first GWJ submission and welcome to the community!

Thanks for taking the time to try out the game! Happy to hear you had a fun time. :)

Thanks for your kind words!

I considered leaving it at first but figured better safe than sorry and not get into any trademark issues so I just changed it up a little. :P

Thanks for trying out the game and I’m glad you liked the keyboard puzzle!

The platformer implementation is very well done for the most part although I had some difficulties getting the hang of things unfortunately. You have some good music and nice sound effects to really add that extra polish to the game.

Nice work!

Thanks for trying out the game!

  1. Yeah, you can’t type numbers and symbols don’t work. It was not obvious to me how to get symbols working with the shift key and so on so I opted to not complicate things and just keep it to letters. With keyboard layout differences as well I wanted to make sure what the user typed is what they got. Perhaps something to research going forward.
  2. Interesting. The teacher checks on you 4 times so you should not be “stuck”. No one else has reported this…but maybe they just did not run into this problem. I originally wanted to add a clock so that you can see how long the class was going for but ended up working on polishing up other parts of the game. Your feedback confirms that this is something that should be added though. Thank you for bringing this up.

Very interesting game. Unique art and creepy sound effects. The atmosphere of the game is really on point! I also liked the UI design of your dialogue boxes and you have some well-written dialogue to go along with it!

I went to the swamp side and then the screen turned red and now I just had a static red ball and another red ball flying around randomly. It’s been doing that for a few minutes now so I guess it’s stuck…?

Wonderful music and pixel art! Really well done! Definitely need to do the tutorial before jumping in though so thanks for including that! Great options in the settings. The whole package is just very polished and the UI is consistent. Awesome job!

Has anyone been able to launch this game on macOS? It seems to me like the export has (some) source code as I can see .gd and .gdshader files in the zip.

I played your game on my other computer with Windows 10 Home and it loaded up fine. I liked your opening/title screen where you explain the rules as well as having it be interactive. Great idea! I liked the art and the unicorns were cute. Nice job with your first GWJ submission!

Cool mini-games! Simple and straightforward, very easy to understand! I was able to complete two of them with ease but the one with the balloons definitely upped the difficulty a bit due to how careful you need to be. Nice cute art too!

I would suggest adding a timer to each mini-game. This will increase the replay value as players can retry them to try to beat their previous time.

Really well done animations and music. Great transitions as well!

It was not totally clear to me what I should be doing until my third or fourth go but it was straightforward enough after that. :)

Very unique interpretation of the theme! Simple mechanics and easy to understand but difficult enough to warrant a bit of thinking to solve the puzzles.

Great first submission to GWJ and Welcome to the community!

Thanks for playing!

Can’t wait for the sequel!

Thank you for the kind words. Can’t promise anything. It will really depend on the theme of future GWJs… :P

Thanks for playing! I hope you enjoyed the experience. :)

Thanks for trying out the game!

The first scene reminds me old school days.

I’m happy to hear that it was relatable. :)

Thanks for trying out the game! I’m glad to hear that I captured the nightmare feel both in game and in the real world. ;)

Thanks for trying out the game! I’m glad you felt it was a unique and immersive experience.

I thought for a while my keyboard was broken

I did not even think about this but in hindsight I can see how it can throw the player off completely. I hope the puzzle was not too difficult to solve because I want the player to complete the game instead of getting frustrated and quitting to play another submission. :P I spent a fair amount of time brainstorming different ways to convey hints to the player as to how they should arrive at the solution.

Nice pixel art. Good first submission to GWJ!

I would suggest adding some sound effects as that can really add some oomph to a game. You could also consider adding simple splash/title/credits screens for your future submissions to make the game feel more real and a complete package.

Good luck on your game development journey!

Great first submission! Really good 3D work and the music matches the atmosphere of the game very well.

Like the others, I noticed that the camera is extremely sensitive. I also found that if you fall off you do not ever seem to die and you are just stuck in limbo. I could not get past the second stage after jumping over to the other side. I could see a door above me with two clouds but could not figure out how to get there unfortunately.

Loved the art and music. The collection sound effect was spot on! Very polished! Great job on your first submission!

Is there just one level or am I just terrible at this game? :P

Nice spin on the theme! Very cute intro movie! I got inside the castle and stopped there after dying some more as I would like to play and rate some more submissions (so many more to go…). May have to retry in the future to (hopefully) see the ending.

Very polished submission! The vibe of the game and UX design is really spot-on. Well done!

The game does not seem to run very well for me on macOS here. Clicking around with the external mouse or touchpad does not seem to do anything for me unfortunately. After maybe a minute or two I was able to interact with the objects a bit but it was still a little hard to navigate around. Not sure why.

Thank you for adding an option to modify the mouse sensitivity! Really helped with allowing me to view the world at the speed I am comfortable with. Very important for first-person games. :)

Very polished game! I love the look and feel of the stages and your title screen is absolutely stunning! Nice platformer mechanics as well. Well done!

I don’t know how it works on MacOS for Vulkan support, but are you able to start a Forward+ project on Godot 4.0. Also I am using the .NET version, maybe it comes from there.

I just tested this and it works. I think a lot of people would be upset if Forward+ and C# did not work on macOS.

Thanks for trying out the game, Alboroz!

Really unique visual design you’ve got here. Truly a blast from the past! It reminded me of Windows 3.1 but now that I look at it these decades old screenshots I see now that isn’t quite the colour scheme in question. :P

The whole game was very frantic and the randomness nature jives with the idea of dreams. Nice job!

Fun little game! I died earlier than I expected. :P

Very original game! Great job on thinking up of such a unique take on the theme!

A literal take on the theme but a wonderfully unique implementation. Well done! The art and music really takes this to another level. Very polished!

I suggest taking a look at a card game named “Dream On!”. It is very similar to your game here! :P

Nice first submission! I liked the simple gameplay loop and the unknown dreams flying in were a nice touch. Good background music too!

I would suggest adding keyboard support next time as well. Otherwise, great job!

Great first submission to GWJ! I loved the atmosphere of this game, very spooky!

I would suggest adding a timer in the game next time so that the player can try to beat their own time on subsequent runs.

I got that freezing once on Windows as well, but it never happened again so I didn’t worry too much about it! I wonder what it could have been. Maybe it was some Godot thing loading, no clue.

That’s certainly a thought. Perhaps preloading everything ahead of might solve that. Will give that a go if it happens again next month. :P Thanks for the idea.

Nice, simple game! I loved the music and sound effects! I liked the layout of your HUD as well. Well done!

Unfortunately, I am unable to open this game on macOS 12.6.1. I am launching it from the itch app. This appears to be third game so far this jam that I have experienced this problem.

Great music and sound effects! Very beautifully crafted “battlefield” as well! :)

I was pretty lost as to what I should be doing in the game but this is a very cool take on the tower defense genre!

Great job! Fantastic pixel art and music as always. There was great variety in the mini-games and they were implemented wonderfully. :) And thank you for adding the option to turn off the CRT filter. Much appreciated there.

On macOS, every time I stepped on the black/purple tile (the mini-game tile), the game would freeze. I experienced the same problem with my own submission so I fell back to doing the binary export. I tried playing your game on Windows 10 Home and it was fine there. I guess web exports are still a little wonky unfortunately. :(

Participation Level (GWJ Only) 90

Lastly, how could your team have participated 90 times when there has only been 55? :P
