I liked it very much, but I have to admit: I'm guilty of not reading the text to the game and played with as few blocks as possible on my first playthrough.

Awesome presentation on this! Everything is so gorgeous and feels so well oiled!
The puzzle itself was a fun little challenge, and I liked that you essentially had the option to go "hard mode" for yourself and do the full board!
If you fancy seeing a playthrough, I gave it a go a couple days ago on Twitch!
Thank you! Little things like "perfecting" the board or the bonus tiles that spawn were only added pretty late into the jam, which ended up adding a lot to the game I think. Forcing the player to make potentially "worse" decisions to get more points feels way more interesting than just filling up the board as quickly as possible.
It's really surreal to see someone playing my game on video, I appreciate you doing that. It's really cool of you to take the time to go through and play so many people's games. I appreciate the nice comments too, lol! (Looks like you found a bug too, you were supposed to fail the first level- but I think due to how I'm checking for completeness the top left tile is always considered "filled in" regardless of there being a block there. I'm not really complaining though, it's not meant to be a hard game!)
I totally agree! It's fun to have to make those value calls, even in a relatively peaceful puzzle game.
My pleasure! I'm glad you were able to check it out! I definitely think I'm going to try to do it even more next Jam if I can. I know for me personally, the couple times I've gotten to see my game played has always been the highlight of the experience. Seeing someone play my game for the first time is not only super exciting on its own, but also incredibly insightful as to what may not be as obvious or as easy as you had felt it was 😅
I was wondering about that first level! Hahaha, I misunderstood the rules at first, and though I didn't have to fill over the lightbulb squares.
A puzzle game with an interesting twist, calm music, witty graphics. Good job !
Puzzle gamers rise up! This was so much fun... I love how simple this was and I understood how to play very quickly. I really enjoyed the block animations and the the crisp and clean ui :chefskiss:!
Wonderful music and pixel art! Really well done! Definitely need to do the tutorial before jumping in though so thanks for including that! Great options in the settings. The whole package is just very polished and the UI is consistent. Awesome job!
The assets are crazy good! What software did you use for it? The game is very polished and coherent. I love it, amazing job!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! All the art was done in Asperite, which is great for doing pixel art specifically (Although it costs about $20).
The music and SFX were done using a combination of FL Studio, Audacity, and ChipTone (ChipTone is a really cool, free tool on itch.io that you can use to make retro SFX https://sfbgames.itch.io/chiptone).
Thanks again!
Beautiful! Charming artwork and music and very solid gameplay. There was a small bug where it wouldn't let me place a tile where it should've been able to go (I think) but besides that I had a lot of fun with it. It's also incredibly polished for something made in only a few days. You could probably put this on the app store as-is. It's also cool how many settings the player has control over. Great work overall.
well, a very well polished game for a game jam! I love the art style and the puzzle didn't bother me even though I hate it in general. Maybe using a mouse button to rotate would have been better. that way I can play using only one hand :)
Oh wow, just phenomenal. The gameplay is clear and crisp, the art is consistent and beautiful. I like to imagine that our sleeping friend is the grandpa from stardew valley. Great work
Nice puzzle mechanic. Great artwork. Feels like the kind of game that deserves an endless mode instead of getting game over after a few levels.
Thank you! That was definitely a consideration originally, but ultimately I decided to just keep it short like it is now. I don't think there's really enough complexity in the game currently to warrant playing for more than a few levels. IMO there would need to be something more to distinguish different levels, a few more restrictions outside of different level shapes that could be modified to keep things interesting.
Regardless, thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great puzzle game that fits perfectly with the theme , very good art and music!
My favorite bearded game dev did it again! Lovely presentation, chill music, great color palette! The game itself is super simple and relaxing. I enjoyed myself thoroughly! Thank you!
I loved the game, the graphics and the audio, but I still don't get what's the goal ':) How does this puzzle work?
Ha, I appreciate the rating! Admittedly I rushed the "how to play" section a bit. The goal of each level is to "connect" the two tiles with lightbulbs on them. So if on the first level you place a block on the top left tile, then keep adding blocks that touch each-other until you reach the bottom left tile, you'll complete the level.
I'll probably have to add a better explanation to the game page description- regardless, thank you for playing!
- Theme: Main tie in is aesthetic and narrative
- Fun: This was a fun quick play, the replay value is high because it's fast and has a scoring system
- Controls: Easy to use, I had one hiccup where a block went out of bounds
- Graphics: The art is great and the animation fit the aesthetic. The tiled background on the game page was a nice touch as well.
- Audio: Really liked the music, and the SFX were just r ight
- A11y: Good use of patterns and color, plus settings
- Originality: This was a neat take on dominoes and other puzzle games. I liked that you could place tiles anywhere as opposed to being limited to placing off of another tile. This was encouraged by the incentive of bonus points for filling up the grid
Fun little game. Love the art and music. Really appreciate how polished this is. The art, music, fonts, it all comes together really well.
