Game Description
The Sleepwalker is a 2D side-scrolling survival horror game about a man who battles with his nightmares, trying to uncover the dark secrets of his past. His untrustworthy psychiatrist will help the protagonist to learn the truth through various tests.

How does your game tie into the theme?
Events of the main gameplay take place in the protagonist's dreams. Between the levels, main character's psychiatrist manipulates him, adding new elements to his dreams.

Great game!

Loved the graphics, music, sound, and atmosphere.

The story was nice too and the controls had the resident evil style of survival horror.

Curious to see where you could have taken this if you had more time.

How is this your first game jam?

It's not my first game jam, just my first GWJ! :)

Oh you had me terrified for a second.

This game is just a masterpiece!

Wow, that was a ride. I wasn't even close in my expectations after "just choosing some cards" :D

Awesome submission!

Nice job. It crashed for me due to "WebGL context lost, please reload the page" error. What I was able to play was very moody and great audio and visual. I see how the choices I made played a role in the dream. Thanks for sharing!

Wowza! A lot of great ideas here, and executed well! The sense of tension and unease from the therapist arc was very engaging! The idea of having your "therapy" choices affect what was accessible to you "in dream" was very cool, and a sweet 'aha' moment when I realized what was happening. Fantastic lighting too, was just the right amount of darkness to have me flip-flopping between trying to make out the shadows in the darkness and switching to the lantern for a better look.

Thanks for stopping by the stream and pointing me in it's direction, definitely stuck with me! Here's a timestamped link to the VOD if you're interested!

Super fun game! I had an audio issue whenever I was moving, but the other comments didn't mention it, so it is probably an issue on my end. Good work!

Wow this game looks great. I love the dithering on the lantern light. Great job! I look forward to seeing more!

  • Theme:  Main game loop is in a nightmare
  • Fun:  Surviving was a puzzle in itself, it was interesting to see the mechanics stack on
  • Controls: Firearm controls were not super clear (playing on web), but the rest was good
  • Graphics:  The lights helped out with the ambience of the nightmare and the level design in general
  • Audio:  The audio fit the mood of the game
  • A11y:  There was a sudden red flash from the game over screen
  • Originality: The larger game loop was an interesting way to make the inner loop more interactive and draw the player into the game

Unfortunately, I am unable to open this game on macOS 12.6.1. I am launching it from the itch app. This appears to be third game so far this jam that I have experienced this problem.

I love it! Fun and interesting concept with the card picking. I'm amazed at how polished the game feels.

Really cool idea and execution! Very impressed for your first GWJ submission. It was a little hard to figure out how to use the painkillers, but ultimately this game is a pretty big success, in my mind. You can and should be proud! Keep it up!
