Good game. If you want, you can play and rate my game too: https://itch.io/jam/-pixel-game-jam-2024/rate/2718966

It's really cool I liked the different upgrades and the mechanics feel really smooth. The graphics are awesome and the different powerups really add to the gameplay. Nice job on this!

its hard but I like it!

The concept is interesting, but it jumps around insanely, which personally makes me feel uncomfortable

That was unbelievable! All of the controls were really responsive and fun to use. Especially the cannon jump! The art is really nice too, and I like how your face becomes a wanted poster with how many waves you survived when you lose. My only suggestion is that I had no idea what the pirate NPC was talking about when he asked me for gold, because I didn't recall ever getting any gold. So at first I wondered if I could afford the upgrades, and was like checking to see if they had a cost or something.

Also, I think it was extremely clever that the upgrades were basically a way to let the player choose which mechanics they wanted to play with, and how difficult they wanted the game to be. Really, really smart!

Great work!

Thank you so much!! These compliments mean a lot!

As for the gold thing, that's totally my bad -- maybe I should have dropped a gold coin when spawning the merchant or something, haha. I wanted the merchant to have a lot of personality, and my first thought was "gold" but in hindsight that really is probably pretty confusing when the game doesn't have any gold in it. I'll try and figure something out post-jam!

Fantastic work, congrats! It was fun, played well, I did feel like the cannon was kinda useless getting it after the anchor, but whatever. Pretty minor complaint for a fantastic game!

My favorite game by far in the contest! This is really well polished as I said in the game's page.

The art is beautiful,
Animations are clean,
Mechanics are so snappy and satisfying ,
I definitely had fun playing

very addictive and polished gameplay, no much more to comment, its one of the most polished games I have seen so far, from the sound effects, music ... cool text bubbles with effects

Love how every upgrade felt useful (well, besides a few...) and that's something that's to be expected when games deploy these upgrade systems. Also dash is OP.

I made it to 7 waves on my first try! Very cool -- it got really stressful at the end with all the enemies...my friend (who's not part of this jam) also played it and he really liked it. To quote, "this game owns, it's great."

Thank you!!!

Hey, the pirate theme in your game is fantastic! The dialogue adds a lot of character, and the pixel art looks great. Really fun and engaging. Nice job!

This was so unique and a fresh take gaming in general. I love how the consequences are literally mechanics to deal with the enemies that spawn as a result of the choice. This is A level design right here.
