I really liked the visuals, atmosphere and mechanics, I think you did a really nice job on this!

This game is very interesting and pure, the changing light as you dive down also creates a atmospheric feeling.

Really interesting game! It is simple and it works really well with the concept. Love how depth affects the color under the sea surface.

Cool game, angler fish are always scary! The grappling felt good and the art was nicely drawn, the flying tutorial text was a fun touch too.

I really enjoy the marine pollution theme of this game. It's a very serious issue that deserves more attention. The gameplay is good, but I did encounter some issues that I think you should address.

When the player enters the water, the movement feels glitchy and it seems like the player is stuck. Also, jumping over obstacles on land is a bit difficult when using the spacebar, but it's okay when using the up arrow.

I carefully read the tutorial, and I know that you specified to press Enter when reaching the end of the level, but it would be helpful to remind the player with an icon or a text prompt at the end of every level to make it easier and more intuitive to move to the next level.

Additionally, I found that the tutorial prompts appear too slowly. It would be better to freeze the game to give the player time to read the tutorial and understand what to do. I tend to play quickly, and I had already almost finished the tutorial level before the text prompts appeared. Also, it would be helpful to add a warning about the hostile anglerfish, even though they don't do much damage.

Lastly, I had difficulty distinguishing the healthy fish from the sick ones, especially if they were a different color than the standard ones, and I promise I'm not color blind.

In conclusion, I really like this game, especially the ocean-cleaning mechanics, but it could use some tweaks. Well done!

Thx for advice, you're right on the tutorial thing and enter stuff. I planned to level up automattically but I didnt have enough time ;( Also idk why using spacebar even works on land because i planned to only use wsad

Developer

Why what?

This game is worth your attention because it has no errors and is refined, which is why it gives 5 stars

Theme, Message and Aesthetic wise this game is on point with the Game Jam honestly. Sound wise, what was there worked, but it felt really lacking. There was a sever lack of Game Feel/Feedback.

While mechanically the game worked really well, I found it lacking in Scope/"Aim wise?". Since I could pretty much skip any and all levels any time I wanted. I couldn't exactly tell, from my end at least, Which fish was healthy and not, so I just killed them all with 0 consequences. Picking up the trash in this game just felt like a chore instead of an actual accomplishment/achievement to be done, and had 0 reward for doing so.

It has great amount of potential, but in my opinion, I would lower the scope of having more levels and focus on making that single level as fun as possible. And this is a game to keep an eye out on post Jam, as from what I have seen, your code is fundamentally solid, its only the presentation that needs more polishing up.

Great job mate ^^

too little time ;) Thx for feedback

I like the diving sound, I noticed some invisible walls though, maybe because I needed to do something, but felt kinda being held hostage to the tutorial lol

exactly here the first invisible wall

Developer

invisible walls were on purpose but they weren't quite marked so i totally understand your confusion ._.

Hi Dawka Spermy Games. I'm writing because I'm so shocked how someone can make a game like sabnautica in just a week. The only bad thing is that my friend couldn't use touchpad in this game. only the graphics are maybe a little bit ugly, but still i know how hard it is to get a god ui in only 7 days.

I didn't know that someone could make such a brilliant game in just a week. You can launch it even on steam (I'm serious)

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks ;) Im not planning to launch it but maybe...

Great work! Cleaning up ocean garbage is a fun idea for a game and a good spin on the theme. I liked all the mechanics in here too. I was a little confused about taking damage from the angler fish though, because I couldn't really tell how much damage I was taking. I also missed that I could use the [Enter] key to go to the next scene the first time, I kept looking for that arrow somewhere on the UI instead. There's some really nice potential here, keep it up!

I like the menu music! The pixel art for this turned out great. I was a bit confused about why I couldn't keep going in the water on either side and was hitting an invisible wall, so putting in some rocks or something might make it easier to understand where to go. Great work!

Developer

thx for advice ;)
