Nice work, very cute girl and puzzle game, the idea to literally take nothing work and put it in a game is funny but  it work well and I really enjoy the game, also the music is soothing , it's the only game in the jam that I don't have a 'if I were you' to say good done!

Submitted(+1)

The cover and screenshots are very cute. Perhaps the controls could use some simplification? Nice atmospheric sounds.

I got really mad playing this game. But after 49 minutes I've managed to complete it. Very nice art and soundtrack. The gameplay is creative, but I struggled to beat some puzzles. I felt the game is longer than needed too. Sometimes I spent so much time solving a puzzle that I was begging for the endgame screen, but then there's another puzzle... Anyway, congratulations for your first game and game Jam!

Thank you for the feedback!

Is there anything in particular you struggled with the puzzels? Was there a mechanic not explained well enough? Were you confused about what the goal of each level was? Were there too many choices to make and got choice paralysis? Were you confused about what button/switch was attached to where? Was the platformer too heavy for a puzzle game?

Was there a particular reason (which can be improved) the puzzels were hard for you, is what I’m asking.

It's been a while so I don't remember exactly. 2 things I do remember is that you don't explain the right mouse click the first time it is used so I took a lot of time in that, and the colision mask is bad (especially with the spikes at the end).

I like this game :) GG

Nicely done!  Really liked the art and animations and challenging puzzles!

Developer

Thank you! The team really did well in the game! I hope to improve my craft.

A really clever puzzle platformer with very unique gameplay.  Each room is a puzzle, and a very well-planned one at that. The game features minimal, yet well-made sprites and solid geometry that fits the jam aesthetics perfectly. I have to say, I quite enjoyed playing this game. Well done to the team!

Developer

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback!

Really great game. I loved it. It took me just over 30 mins to 100% it. And collect all the orbs. The theme is spot-on, and using the words was such a cool and outside the-box approach. Great job! I truly felt accomplished after beating this game.

Developer

Thank you! I thought the idea was cool, so I just went with it.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’m further glad you went for 100% as well! I placed an orb in each room to promote replayability, and there were eleven rooms, so I hoped it would increase playtime by a good amount (not too much it’s frustrating, and not too little that the game is short). 30 minutes seems like the correct time for a game this short.

Thank you for your feedback!

Some really clever and fun puzzles here.

Enjoyed the ramp up in difficulty too.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I appreciate your kind words stranger.

Lovely puzzles and the great has a real high level of polish. Amazing submission, really enjoyed it.

Developer

Thank you! The team really did well!

Great work! It's really creative all around using the words for platforming and riddles. Charming level design too. The first puzzle with the box gave me some problems because the platform wasn't always going up when I dropped the box on it. Very polished apart from that!

Developer (1 edit)

Ah. I never tested putting the box on that platform. My bad.

I changed to code for the platforms mid-way through making the game, and I guess I forgot to update that one. Sorry. I should go fix that now.

Thank you for the feedback!

Developer

Fixed. Now that platform can be used for all your box-pushing needs.

Wow, this game was really fun! The idea is really creative and I loved the artwork. It's on of those games where you think, "I wish I would have thought about that." This could definitely be fleshed out into a full game. Nice job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Though I’d have to say, this would need a lot more mechanics if it was ever to be a full game. Speaking frankly, I felt a bit limited with what I could do when I was making the levels.

Well…part of that was also because of my ridiculously terrible code. I had to scrap a lot due to the bugs I had. What I wrote is so spaghetti, the MC might as well be Italian. Hehe.

This game is just fantastic! Puzzle games are my favourite, and the difficulty of this one is just right for me! Especially the second level where you actually have to use words to stuck that platform to keep it from going down lmao.

The art style and the interaction of the music are both done wonderfully as well! All in all it's a great idea!

Developer

Thank you very much! I watched a lot of puzzle games on youtube and tried to mirror my level design based on them. I’m glad it worked to make your experience enjoyable!

Submitted(+1)

The game is very cute and creative, I just didn't quite understand how to open the door, I tried to do a lot of thing but it was really fun ^^

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Mmm… Honestly, I did think that might be a problem at the start. But, without directly spelling it out, I figured the way I did it was the best.

Maybe if I put lines, maybe a ghost image, or more control icons?

I don’t know. I just wanted to give the player the feeling of “wow! I didn’t know you could do that. Cool!” by letting them figure it out themselves, instead of directly telling them, you know? I suppose that has its downsides, however. I’ll need to think about this some more.

Thank you for your reply! Glad you enjoyed it!

Very creative, gamejam games need to be this way! I liked it a lot, even it's a bit hard for me :0 What are your future plans for a game?

Developer (1 edit)

I have an idea for a dream game, but I wish to gain experience in coding and marketing before I attempt such a big project. Thank you for asking!

Thank you for your response!

Extremely nicely done, great interpretation of the theme.

The difficulty curve may be a bit twisted but that's expected in a jam. I ended up with 7/10 secrets and I feel like collecting them may be one of the more attractive part of the game.

You puzzle design is on point, every solutions felt neat and deliberate, that's impressive work (especially with such a simplistic starting point). It really deserve to be at the very top from what I've seen so far in the jam.

If I had to nitpick, I think the resolution and overall sprites integration may need some work. The main character look like she's not made to be displayed at this size which can cause her outline to disappear sometimes. 1 ticker outline or a neater resolution may fix that. One of the most endearing MC out there by the way, excellent spritework.

Amazing entry overall, nice job.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks!

This is my first game jam, so I had a bunch of problems with the resolution. Believe it or not, it was MUCH worse than this (I’ll be looking up tutorials to fix this later). The reason why the outline is flickering is probably because I made the outline only one pixel long (as you said). I thought about changing it but was on the fence since it kind of looked cool in its own way. Also, I was lazy because, well, it took so long to adjust a one-pixel outline.

Well, meh.

The bonuses were what I thought would give the game the most replayable possible too. That, and the timer (which was more of a secondary addition), were things I put in to promote player responses. Of course, there is the secret dapper mode when collecting all 11 orbs (one is super secret) too, but I’m pretty sure no one is going to bother to get that when there are so many other games to play.

Anyway, thank you for your response again!

Oh god that's such an original take. Very cool puzzle game with very hard to solve puzzles and even harder to discover secrets! very cool how you make us use these words as a bunch of useful tools. Out of the box design to say the least. Great work!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I appreciate it! Our team did our best!

I love this concept and this unique game play. (I'm puzzle game lover so I really enjoy. level design is creative.) art is really cute.

I found some bug while I played (such as my body stuck on the floor or corner. I can not do anything. just restart level.) but this game is still good.

Developer (1 edit)

Well, there is the obligatory bug I didn’t fit! Got to have one of those every game. Surprisingly, it wasn’t due to the box this time!

Thank you.

Submitted(+1)

Very literal puzzle game, solid use of the theme and it's nice and cute!

Developer

Thank you! I wanted to be a little tongue-in-cheek with this entry. Seems it worked out.

I really like when games make use of word puzzles like this.  The game reminds me a lot of Typoman and Baba is You.  Good job!

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you! Baba is You was my main inspiration for this game. In fact, I originally wanted this game to have more words that you would have to destroy and connect together for puzzles. Like making a shake to dislodge an object, or spelling a color to change the color of the whole game and destroy all other color words.

Then, after wasting a whole day trying to make a mini-parser, I decided to scope the project. Meh. Maybe that’s a project for the future.

Interesting puzzles and cute girl =)

I really like your submission!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! And yes, itspyrogeist really outdid themself with our MC.

How many of the secrets did you find? I would like to know if I made them too hard or not.
