What do you like about your game?
It's a simple idea for a game/take on the theme that has lots of potential. Also I didn't have to draw anything.

i didnt thought pong could be made into a roguelike but you did it, wow

Developer

Turns out it can!

;)

Whew... I played this for way longer than i wanted... But at least im second on the leaderboard :) ((  Also i swear to god i had such a great run and then accidentally refreshed the page :(  ))

But anyway, this game is really great. Once i started to figure out the ways i could exploit the life system, it really hooked me. Ok soo, here's the strat:

1. Always get +12.5% chance to not lose a life OR +1 life every 4 games if you can
2. UNLESS the other effect is that you lose 1 life more with every missed ball
3. also you should not get too greedy with effect that makes the ball go faster when moving in your direction. If it's already quite fast, you should avoid that too
4. ((The best combination is +12.5 chance to not lose life and create a little wall on the enemy side imo))
5. DO NOT choose blur. Unless you hate yourself.
6. Distort and flip screen also suck. Avoid these as well.
7. (((Enemy slow > Enemy Shrink)))
8. (((Player enlargement > Player Speed boost)))

ok, here comes the good part:

9. The stuff that gives you lifes every 4 rounds actually also works when you lose
10. If you have enough of the stuff that makes you not lose a life or that regenerates life over time, you're practically invincible
11. Profit
12. Profit
13. Profit
14. (...)
15. Realize how much time you actually wasted on a simple pong game.
16. Regret life decisions.
17. depression :(
18. aaa
19. Realize that life goes on
20. heal
21. life a happy and joyful life
:)

Thank you for this great game, truly a gem of the jam imo.

Developer

Thank you for the very positive feedback!

I loved hearing about your experience with my game and the strategies you developed (apologies for causing an existential crisis at points 15-17). Congratulations on the second place finish on the leaderboard too ;)

A score of 30 is very good. I have no idea how the guy in first did so well.

A fun spin on an existing game! it was cool by the end of the round you could see just how much you had strayed from the base game with each choice you made (distorting the screen was a horrible choice on my part :D). Music was really calming too.

Great work!

Developer

Thanks! Happy to hear you enjoyed the music and how the chaos increased as the game went on.

Very fun concept, my only complaint is it seems like the ai forgets how to play after a certain point, and the main objective is just not miss the ball. Every time the ball was served to my opponent it just went straight in.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. Glad you liked the concept.

I know what you mean about the AI missing the ball lots. It's a querk of how the I programmed the AI. I will look into improving it and providing a patch at the end of the Jam.

This was a much welcome twist to a ubiquitous concept. Also, the game has a lovely, relaxing quality to it - the music goes a long way in building this atmosphere.

Beautiful piece of work. Good show!

Developer

Thank you for the positive feedback!

I'm glad you liked the music choice, it took me a long time to find some tracks that fit the gameplay.

Nice idea! I wish it went faster at the start, I felt like I was waiting a lot for things to ramp up!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

I agree it starts a bit slow. I might add an option to skip playing the first two rounds on subsequent playthroughs.

Really interesting concept on the whole Pong theme - it just keeps getting more and more bizarre, I love it!

Great work :)

Developer

Thanks, that was the effect I was going for!

This was really fun, especially trying to play after I blurred and flipped the screen. Great game!

Developer

Thank you. Happy to hear you enjoyed my game ;)

You really got me hooked with the leaderboard ^^

Very cool and fun game concept :)

Thanks, nice to hear you enjoyed my submission!

Congratulations on the highscore too. 39 will be hard to beat!

small problems in regulating modifiers like "increase opponent paddle and decrease opponent paddle" and double same mods, but overall nice mix of mods and pong. Flipped the screen and regretted it lol

Developer(+1)

Happy to hear you liked my take on pong. Flipped screen is probably the most brutal modifier.

I unfortunately did not have time to fix the modifiers cancelling each other out bug. Hopefully I can release a patch once the Game Jam has ended.

clever mix of pong with vampire survivors

Developer

Thanks. Interesting description of the game!

The visuals are simple but very clean and the leaderboard is a good addition. It feels a little weird to have modifiers that increase and decrease the same property.

Developer

Happy to hear you appreciated the visuals and leaderboard!

The modifiers occasionally cancelling each other out are a bug that I didn't have time to fix ;(
