Love the visuals and satisfying gameplay! I wonder if you could have a last-slime-standing style mode where AI also plays as a slime and you compete against them :)

Great game! It is very simple and easy to play. I would suggest adding a repel effect for enemies from the walls, as I personally found they can be manipulated to a corner or a wall  pretty easily. All in all this is a great game. Nice job!

You made running over the little guys really fun so kudos for that.

In my first run, I didn't see a lot of them and then just died after splatting a few lone guys. On my second run, I came into a room and saw 3 and it was like "wow, I didn't know I could find 3 at time!"  which felt great to be able to think about herding them or the movement to be able to get all 3 without them getting away. So I think the game is at its best when you have a bunch of little guys on screen and you're trying to figure out what path to take to get most of them in a bunch or splat most of them in one dash rather than having a few little guys and having to search for them and hunt them down.

That gives me some good ideas :)

I liked this one a lot! It's a bit small and simpel, but I really like how those games also feel the most complete and finished.

I liked the concept and "sight" effects. Splatting the little guys was also satisfying.

A simple yet classic game to play for trying to get as much as score you possibly can, until the "time" runs out, nice entry!

Enemy density and spawns feel a little too inconsistent, but it's great otherwise.
Simple, but fun - I like it!

Yeah I agree could be optimized

Solid game, the mechanic is so good so polished. Graphic is good too like the blood, and sound is good, i like the splat sfx. I enjoy it so much.

A simple high score chaser - a staple in every game jam. 🙂 Well put-together. I particularly enjoy the blood particles that are left after you catch an enemy.

131!  I quite enjoyed this.  Well polished.  Simple.  A solid entry.

Some things I think could be changed, though I'm not sure if they'd be improvements:

First, the little creatures were pretty simple to capture en-masse when they pushed up against the walls.  I think they are just moving in a line away from the player, but steering behavior might lead to them not bunching up in corners as much.

Second, there were times where I felt like I died because there weren't enough spawning or I couldn't find them fast enough.  If I lose, I'd like it to be from my inability to capture the critters rather than their sparsity.  Perhaps there's a way to ensure there's always a creature reachable if one plays optimally?

Third, creatures sometimes spawned in front of me. Not a huge issue, but finding them just outside the line of sight can be neat.

Good work.

1.: Yeah a better running away mechanic would help with that true. 2.: Hm maybe more but with better distribution and better juke mechanics. The distribution point will definitely get some love next week. 3.: The spawning and level generation came together in the last 4-5h and I didn’t come up with a good method of checking that in the time, but shouldn’t be that hard, true. Thanks very much for playing and the suggestions! Mine is 234 ^^

Looks great! I only wish I had more feedback when gaining blood, I was unsure at first if that was working.

Feeling bad for the small creatures, they look so helpless!

Developer

Hm good point didn’t think of that, maybe have the blood flask more in the center and bigger it would help or an animation? Hm I will think about it. Thanks :)

Very fun little game, I really enjoyed it! The controls are very smooth and easy to grasp and the dash mechanic add a really nice touch of dynamism to the feel of the game. I liked the gameplay a lot, and the inevitable death/drying up adds a sense of urgency that works nicely to make you murder those little skittish blobs as fast as possible. The procedurally generated levels work well, although my only "criticism" here would be that the levels and enemy spawning can feel quite unbalanced from one session to another. I played three times and noticed that my second session felt a lot "emptier" than the other two, because I only really started to run into enemies late in the session, and there was no way for me to recover from the lack of enemies to kill in the first two thirds of it. It felt less like it was my fault for not choosing the course of action, and more like just bad luck because there was no creature in sight for what felt like a long time. Other than that slight detail (which I'm sure could be addressed with further development, a game jam only leaves so much time for balancing), really enjoyable game!

Developer

Yeah the spawning distribution is random at the moment and could be a bit more balanced. But every new spawn is also random and there are always 10 enemies on the map. I was thinking about adding a visual indicator where the next or most enemies are, but didn’t get to it. Thanks for the long review :)
