This is incredible, the idea is great and the execution is excellent!

By far the best game I've played in this jam.

This game is incredible! It's unique and so creative. And the way the menus are set up is extremely clever. I was wowing. We also made a game inside a computer, so it was super interesting to see how that idea was taken in a different way. I really enjoyed this game and the challenging puzzles. (there's even support for custom levels, what!) Great job!

hex codes for the custom level creation colors:
#000000 = ground
#FFFFFF = air

#00FF00 = goal
#0000FF = frozen ground
#00FFFF = frozen air

the following colors are converted to air during gameplay, along with their stated functions:

#FF0000 = player start
the player starts at the average position of all the red pixels, so you can put red on both sides and they’ll start in the middle

#FFFF00 = resize tool
#FF00FF = rotate tool
#800000 = move tool
#008000 = copy tool
#000080 = rectangle tool
the first pixel that will become the center of a tool is the top-most pixel in the left-most column (prioritizing left before up)
later tools will not be placed if they are <100 pixels away in both directions from an existing tool

you can also color-pick from this image:

Amazing game! Really creative take on the theme and well executed too. Also love the wacky old OS artstyle. Reminded me of Hypnospace.

Sadly, it says it's having issues on MacOS. I was looking forward to this game and hope you are able to iterate on it!

Unfortunately we don't have an Apple Developer account (they cost money...), so Gatekeeper isn't going to like any binary we compile. Most indie games on here are going to be like that.

https://disable-gatekeeper.github.io/

In order to run unsigned software, you will need to disable Gatekeeper (sudo spctl --master-disable), and also remove the quarantine bit that MacOS sets whenever you download a file from the Internet: (xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /path/to/MissPaint.app).

I wouldn't characterize this as the game having issues on MacOS, rather an issue of MacOS having an issue with indie devs.

i liked it very cool puzzle levels

Submitted(+3)

Game is fun! Puzzles are hard to make. Really enjoyed the aesthetic and sound design, and the overall game is impressive. Having your own level editor is pretty sweet as well :)

I found this game to be insanely impressive from a technical perspective. Can you maybe share some insight in how you did this ?

The puzzles where a lot of fun too and I was often smiling when some new cool idea came up. Some really good stuff.

when the idea came up at the start of the jam, it seemed like a complete nightmare

we were using the Godot engine, so i searched something like “godot collision from image”, assuming it’d be impossible in the allotted time and i could move on

turns out Godot just has functions to

  1. convert images to full binary bitmaps (something there vs nothing there), and
  2. convert full binary bitmaps into an array of collision polygons

without that second one i don’t know if we would’ve even tried this game concept.

beyond that, it was a lot (a lot a lot) of iterating through the images to separate out the colors and iterating through the binary bitmaps to do all of the tool functions.

wow that is really cool. Thanks for the breakdown.

seems like it was a lot of work to get all that stuff working correctly. It payed off tho. The final game is awesome.

This is so fun and charming! I love the level design and drawings used for the theme. I love the DOORS startup joke I'm dying. Great job!

Cool tool/toy to make a game and level maker for that game really clever and I like the paint art and calming music. My brain too small for some of the later levels but thats a me problem!

This game is my jam

Just wow. We had a similar idea for our game, but the way you brought to life is amazing. From the interface, to the mechanics to the levels themselves! Everything is just amazing, I'm truly in awe.

I have so many questions I want to ask, how is everything so clean? You can drag windows around, the levels and options are tabs that are functional. And everything seems to work with no bugs. Incredible, best game in the jam so far

I didn't know the exact right colors for how to make a level

Developer(+1)

Nice art! This one doesn't load unfortunately - you can find a guide to how to make custom levels in the Custom Levels folder!

Submitted(+2)

Yes I saw that. I just wasn't sure the exact rgb codes of the acceptable colors, so it was just trial and error until I just kinda gave up after getting the start and goal.
