Awesome submission! There's a lot of charm and polish, and the blend of 3D and pixel art is very asthceticlly pleasing. The music was a great fit too!
I clipped through absolutely everything. With my character somewhere in the abyss I was able to freely move the camera around and just... see the level. The graphics are nice and the music is fun!
It was cool to make a platformer that uses the mechanics of SMB2. I like how the level has multiple paths to get to the end. I took the sky route because I found it easier. Cleaver pun with the title of the game. Great entry!
nicey nicey gamey !
Great platforming here! Everything looks and feels good to play, and the cute character art gives it such a whimsical vibe. Really impressive to get all this together in the time of a jam.
Really cute game and platforming felt nice! Great work
I really like that you can pick up enemies and throw them. Also the game view amazing. I liked it. My only complaint is that I would love to go down when I use "down" and "jump" on platform. Good game!
Aw yeah, team 3d-world-with-2d-sprites-starring-biggy-heavily-inspired-by-classic-mario-games represent!
The Biggy sprite is very adorable and the SMB2 gameplay is all there. I really liked the creative take on the purpose of pipes. I liked the epic final boss battle, the perfect twist on the original. A very nostalgia packed game that also has a strong voice of its own.
The choice of sound effects in particular were adorable. Great job!
A polished, fun platform that wears its influences on its sleeve. Don't sleep on the overworld! Really enjoyed the art as well :)
Yeah, I think a lot of people are skipping about half the game, which is admittedly my fault for the level layout. Thank you!
Really, really polished for a jam game!
Thank you, I do my best!
Love the overall presentation of the game - 2.5 world and 2d sprites. I can see that this game was inspired by the GOTY Super Mario bros 2 lol. The controls were tight and I loved the overall feel of the game. Only issue I had were the platforms that were hidden underneath the screen in the underground section, and the pipe to the ceiling. Other than that great job!
Thank you for the kind words :)
I like the nod to Super Mario Bros 2. Also has some Rainbow Island vibes lol
It all started with picking up the Pie King’s ice cream and throwing it back at him! SMB2 was the natural progression from that mechanic :)
i love the style! the jumping pipe at the end that gets swarmed by enemies was a little bit annoying, since it's pretty common to get hit by one of them on the way up (and since it's random chance which one is right, there's a good chance you'll die and have to repeat the level). also, i was able to just run past the pie boss and end the game lol, not sure if that's intentional. otherwise, other than being a bit short, i thought this was a neat little game :D
Being able to run past the pie boss is definitely a bug, but we do the best we can with the time we have :) Thank you for the kind words!
I am immediately captured by that art style, I'm in love!
I actually like the 2.5D style you're going with this. The animation, character, enemy, and world is so bright and nice. However I'm going to comment on the usage of pipes: I would recommend to find a better alternative for zone warp/shooter so it's not too straight in the face on what you're referencing :9
Other than that, the level design can do some adjusting: try to not put too much things into the screen at once, give them a bit of space in between things so player can proccess what's going on and where to go. Reduce the idea of "pick a pipe" and encourage the idea of exploring without getting punished(getting nothing). Also try to create a clear checkpoint rather than make player wondering if they have passed a new safe place or not.
Also try to avoid camera that hides path like this unless it's a secret and given a hint by environment shape that there's an actual path there.
Other than that, really nice work! I also love the title choice and overall vibes, really takes you back into a real classic.
Thank you for the advice and positive feedback! BTW, Legend of Lu was incredible. Everyone should check it out; good enough to pay money for.
Waaah thank you 🥺🥺🥺 that's a little too much, I'm glad you're enjoying our game ><
Love the physics and the sound. The game is a really nice take on SMB2 (game of the year btw) and all the mechanics were implemented really well.
I think the level design is a bit unfocused tho and there are a touch too many enemies but aside from that it's really good.
Great job.
Wow A+++ on the graphics/animations, I love biggie so much!! Also, I just realized this game jam needs a lot more Super Mario Bros 2 type games! what are we doing people?!?
Great Job!
this game is an expression of joy
Yes! Yes! Yes! This is exactly what I was going for :) I just loved making it and I just wanted people to love playing it!
This game is lots of fun!
Thank you for playing! It makes me happy to know you enjoyed it :)
This felt super polished, the style was sick! As others have mentioned, the controls felt really tight. There's not really anything I can complain about, just a solid platformer!
Thank you for th kind words! I had fun making it :)
i died a lot to the slimes but thats because it was actually my little brother playing
classic
