Love the visual style and creativity around boss attacks and animations
Boy that's tough.
Playing this with a controller was a dream, that's some tight platforming for sure. Run speed is quick and short hops are easy to perform. I didn't notice right away but it seems like when you switch the direction of your swing, it stays that direction until you switch back? I had to get used to that.
I really dig the art style and the animation, especially on the boss golem. That charge attack with the shoulders hunched in is great. I get the point of the game in this case is kind of to not beat it (?) for the loop theme, but I think having better telegraphed attacks would be good. There are a couple ground slam attacks that do super different things but look the same. Same with the chain pulls. I got him down to 25% left by just following and wailing on him. I wonder what happens if you beat him?
Anyway, cool game. The control is great, very nice sprite work. I liked the dialogue from the prisoner too. Congrats on this one.
Lovely little game. The best thing about it is the tight controls, and fluid motions. I enjoyed it as the combat is fast-paced.
Though, I understand the game was supposed to be hard, but I think better enemy telegraphs would make the boss a little less unpredictable. For example, I can't really tell the difference between a pull attack and a normal chain attack, and that leaves very little room for reaction, because you'd need to react halfway through the animation.
Overall, very solid game, much like an old Megaman boss fight, only the boss is on steroids and hit way faster haha. A job well done! congrats!
It's alright! It was a game jam after all.
As for controls, I think it depends on the person. I used to play a lot of Megaman X on emulator on the PC so the ZXC control scheme is quite easy to grasp, I just wish there was an option to rebind the keys. For me, jumping with X and attacking with C feels simpler, because jump attacks will be more intuitive.
Love the art, the sound design, the polish, the effort! This game is pretty good overall! Feels juicy too!

Always love souls-like games! Though this can't really be that since the boss is virtually impossible. Love the artwork really well done! This game seems like a great idea to continue developing and improving especially with looping rooms but replacing the boss after beating them. That would probably work better for showing player progression while still keeping them imprisoned for their crime.

Art style is definitely top notch! Great job with the sounds and the Theme! The gameplay though specifically the player controller needs some work. Jumping looks very off which makes the game unnecessarily difficult. The boss is solid very nice job. I would of put the movement abilities right next to each other. Meaning the dash and jump are "z" and "x" then "c" would be attack. But that's just my preference. Could always learn a new control scheme. Great game!
