Really like the movement and the idea, tho its a bit boring to just walk. It would be more interesting if there were some enemies and/or obstacles
Thanks for the feedback ! I'm aware of that issue of the gameplay i'm sorry for that :/
Anyway i'll make sure to put more efforts in the gameplay for the future :)
Really cool concept, love the M.C. Escher worlds and art. Could be a solid game if expanded upon, with more levels and some other mechanics worked in.
Thanks for the review ! I could expand this concept with more time i guess but yes there is still a lot to explore :D
Nice concept and art.. Hope u keep working on it. Also could improve alittle bit on the starting to make it more addictive
Maybe i'll keep working on this, stay tuned ;)
Thanks a lot for the feedback i know the gameplay is not that interesting right now i'll make sure to keep that in mind for the future ;)
This is a superb game jam entry. The loop theme is clearly implemented, the music fit the atmosphere, and the play on perspectives is really cool. Very MC Escher-like and also reminds me of the Arcane Sanctuary in Diablo 2. You kept the gameplay short and fun, and it looks like there's plenty of additional mechanics you could add post jam. The only criticism I have is not being able to pause and quit to the menu. It's not a huge deal (I'm pretty sure I skipped this myself on this jam), but its something to think about in the future.
Overall, this is a fantastic entry and really creative!
Thank you so much for the review ! You're right for the pause, i didn't really think about that actually, i will definitely check this for the future !
Thanks again for these kind words i appreciate a lot :D
No problem! Also, I've got your game music stuck in my head now. Super effective.
Ahahah i'm glad you liked it xD
Tons of potential here with possibilities for shifting levels, extra complex loops, and a good difficulty progression for me personally. Nice work! Only thing I would personally change is the running speed, at least after the first loop
That's a really cool and simple game! The music goes really well with the style, and you make actual loops which is spot on for the jam theme.
Besides the mentioned tricky last level, there could be a mechanic that changes the conditions of every next loop, such as speeding it up, so something new is happening even when you figure it out and do it three times.
All in all a great game!
Thanks a lot for the feedback ! I'm aware of that downside of the gameplay, you're absolutely right ! I will try to do my best for future games :)
Cool game. It is a brain bender and I think it's so cool. I like the menu, how you have to jump off to quit or run through the door to start, it's a great touch. I think the selecting options in the level select could use more feedback, still not sure if I was selecting anything or if it was just showing me progress. I also got stuck on the last level. Very, very cool though.
Can you checkout my game if you get the chance: https://itch.io/jam/black-and-white-jam-8/rate/1483089
Thanks a lot for the feedback ! I will pay more attention of that kind of details for future games, but this one was so short that i didn't think it was necessary to add a level selection, my bad.
I will check for sure your game by the way, i play every game of those who have played mine ;)
Thanks again for playing !
Note : If you're wondering how you can pass the last level, you can check this gameplay from 7:15 to 7:45 :
AMAZING! All 5s from me. I enjoyed it so much! Lots of effort poured into the environment and I'm sure the code involved in making the Escher-like connections in each level. Super impressed. More please!
Wow thank you so much for these words i'm glad you enjoyed !
I will probably make a devlog about the game, there are so much things to explain x)
Thanks for playing :D
If you want to see my experience live, I streamed it yesterday among other entries! it's the only VOD there right now haha. Starts at 29:50!

I just finished watching your gameplay, and wow i'm so happy to ear that my game is cool ! Can stop smiling right now, you made my day, thank you :D
So glad!
The art was real cool and you worked with the concept nicely.
Thank you so much :)
This game fits the theme to a tee! It's the first time I've seen M. C. Escher's works being used in a game so kudos to you! I also really liked how creative the start menu was.
The only problem I had with this game was that it's too short :)
Oh wow i'm so glad you recognized Escher's work through my game ! He was my main source of inspiration indeed, but i'm such a newbie compared to him in the field of illusions x)
It was my first time playing with illusions actually, so this is why i made such a few levels, it was really hard to design these ones ;)
Thanks again for playing and for the feedback !
Interesting concept that was executed well. I'd be curious to see how you went about creating the levels.
Only really complaint is that once you figure out the optical illusions, completing the levels starts to feel tedious. The character's walk speed doesn't help in this regard, either. Having something in the levels change that mixes up the different laps would have been nice.
You're absolutely right ! I definitely spent too much time on creating and designing levels, whereas i should have more focused on the gameplay.
I had multiple ideas to break the monotony of each level, but unfortunately i had not enough time to add them, i'll keep them for another time.
Thanks a lot for your feedback it helps me a lot :D
Hi, it's a very good game, I really liked the use of black & white in the level design. The last level is a little more difficult than the others, but in overall It's a nice job, congrats!
Hey thank you for playing ! I wanted to add some difficulty for the last level, but maybe i should have mitigated it indeed ...
Thanks for the feedback !
Fantastic art and shaders! Love the optical illusions of depth, all hail orthographic projection!
Thank you so much for playing :)
incomplete game submission giver here, you did really good on this :)
Ahah yeah i remember you ;)
Thanks a lot for playing !
This game was amazing. Seriously, one of the most clever and creative of the entire jam. Not only did it fit the theme well it was also the best use of black and white I've seen so far
You're so kind thank you !! It's so motivating actually :D
The music gave me nostalgia , the art was on point with the optical illusions and the way things we're presented were top notch. I really enjoyed this game.
I appreciate so much these kind words that's so sweet... And how motivating this is :D
Thanks again a lot for your feedback that means a lot to me!
I really liked this one! Just using the arrow keys made it really fast to pick up.
I got a little lost on the last level, but as soon as I realized the twist, it felt really satisfying. I still have no idea how you pulled off the optical illusions. I figure it has to do with the camera positioning.
The music also sounds really nice and I like the gentle sway of the ship & interactive menu.
One thing that I noticed is that at the start, you can walk into the ship. I also didn't realize at first that when it said "jump to exit", that meant jump off the edge. I assumed that it meant press space bar, as that is usually what jumping entails.
Great game!
Wow thanks a lot for your detailed review !
You're absolutely right for the optical illusion it's just a question of camera positionning and the fact that this is orthographic view, so there are no distance effect.
Unfortunately yes, there are some collisions missing, and the ship is one of them x)
For the "jump to exit" i realised just after submitting that this was confusing, but i couldn't change it anyway my bad !
Thanks again for playing and for your review i really appreciate that :D
Nice artistic design and shaders. I found some of the levels a bit confusing however that's literally the point (mainly the fourth). Really cool, would love to know more about it in depth. Also small giggle at jump to quit nice
I'm so glad you enjoyed ! If you want to know more about it i will probably do a timelapse of the project as a devlog, or you can just contact me if you want !
Cheers ;)
Amazing shaders! Really nice concept and gameplay.
Thanks for playing :D
The game is cool! clever use of theme and levels are confusing are really like that
Thanks a lot ! I'm glad you like it :D
