Really great atmosphere! For a pixel art-based game, I didn't think I'd get as scared as I did! Really great experience, I killed 18 colleagues apparently, feelin' kinda bad lol. Overall, amazing game!

Developer

Thank you very much! Sorry for making you feel bad, I felt like it would kinda fit the theme as well (less calls = more survivors).

This game sure did instill an ominous mood indeed and fit the theme really nice. Although, the controls said mouse to shine flashlight and I couldn't really turn it off or on I guess. Just wanted to mention that. Also, the movement for me felt a bit delayed and slow I'm not sure if it was me or the game. Overall though, this was a pretty nice entry!

Developer

The flashlight is always on, the mouse is only for aiming the flashlight. I should have been more clear on that in the instructions, definitely not a fault on your side!

Maybe you know already, but you can sprint by pressing shift which makes you much faster (but you also attract the monster)!

Thank you for playing!

What a great game! Really loved how simple yet still terrifying it was. A note that could be cool is a little visual representation of how much noise you're making, but still seeing those red lines skulk away was super cool. I did also just walk straight out the maze and ended up in a blank void. Cant wait to see it expanded on :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! Showing visually how much noise you make is a great idea, thanks for the feedback!

Also, walking out of the void is definitely an oversight by me, just consider it as a secret ending for now (you avoided confrontation all together :P).

Nice take on the theme and interesting minimalistic graphics. The way you use the light is great, especially to visualize where the monster is; very ominous.
The one thing I would suggest working on somehow is give the player a better way to understand why the monster saw them. To me it seemed pretty random (line of sight? distance? ... definitely not movement), which can get a bit irritating sometimes. Also a way to escape once you are detected would me nice.
Nice job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Explaining how the monster fully works was something I considered putting in, but then there would be too much text to read for the relatively short game. I also thought that the player can experience it first-hand first, and get a feel for the monster's mechanics. But I'll definitely think of a way to explain it better!

As soon as the lights went out and the monster's footsteps started blasting through the building, I turned the lights off. Amazing experience, the tension was super high, specially when he was walking towards me and I didn't know if he was going to catch up to me and hear me.

If you expand on this concept I believe it can make an incredible game.

Developer

Thank you! I might turn it into a full game if people really liked it/want it.

It haunts me in my sleep well done sir, well done.

It's an interesting little horror game. At the beginning I was able to walk outside of the map and ended up in a blue void. I like the idea of this game and think it could be cool if you expanded on it some more maybe with different levels with other mechanics.

Check out my game if you get a chance!

Wow, I loved this! Super creepy. The visuals, SFX and music were spot on and created the atmosphere. The controls and movement worked very well. I did find I could run out of the boundaries accidently though and it just was all Unity default camera background. Awesome game.

Thank you very much!

the calling mechanic is really cool, and sound and music design is amazing. good game, very intense

Submitted(+1)

Man, this game was intense! The sound design is really good and even though you can sort of see where the monster is from quite a distance the tension rises when it is getting closer and you decide to make a run for it (or call a colleague).

Nice game, I escaped and sacrificed 23 colleagues during my escape. Which is a lot but they didn't invite me to the Christmas dinner so they had it coming!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! It's a great score as well, think of them as "necessary casualties".

This is a really good game, it's really scary and the fact that the music stops when you run so you can hear your steps is really unsettling. Really nice ^^

Submitted(+1)

I really loved the music and sound as it really makes the horror athosphere.

Developer

Thank you!

For how simple the visuals are, this is surprisingly creepy! The atmosphere is phenomenal

Developer

Thank you!

I like the stealth atmosphere here! Maybe bit difficult (not a bad thing) and I would like if player could run little bit faster than monster so there would be nice "catch me if you can" element. But overall I enjoyed playing it!

Developer

Thank you for liking the game! And thanks for the feedback!

This is a really great stealth game for the limited time. Neat mechanics, great atmosphere. I do think having the monster also respond to sight muddles things a little. Having it be exclusively about noise would be a cleaner design. Nicely done.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

Extremely good setting and atmosphere. I enjoyed the game but I would like for the monster to only chase after me if he hears me not sees me and to walk around more randomly.

Developer

Yeah, someone else also mentioned the not seeing/only hearing thing which is completely fair.

Thank you for playing!

This goes very well with the theme. I was surprised the light attracted the monster as well.

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Checked it out. The idea of the game matched the theme very well. The gameplay was interesting. I encountered a couple game breaking glitched though. I was able get out of bounds of the map, and that was by accident. And sometimes after being respawned after dying, the creature would instant auto hunt the player down again. Even without moving. The creature and effects were cool. Overall, good work!

Developer(+1)

I think at the start of the game you walk immediately left and go out of bounds? I think I wanted to put a secret ending out there but completely forgot about it haha.

Also, the creature following you immediately after dying is definitely not a thing that should be happening, I'll check it out.

Submitted

No biggie. I got stuck out of bounds when that happened. But I restarted it and made it through a couple doors no problem at the second time through!

I was playing game jam games at 12AM at this game scared me so much XD

super fun game with a very scary objective and idea, only negative thing i would say is that i would rather have the monster to not chase you if he sees you only if he hears you. it made some places really hard and annoying but still extremely fun!

Developer

Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback! The reason I let the monster chase you if you are in range is because otherwise the game can be completed solely by just walking around (if there never is any threat, why try anything else).

Also, who plays horror games at 12AM xD

Submitted

I meant it would only chase you if you walked, and the further away it would be the less the monster can hear!

but fun game again

Developer

Ah, I see. Definitely did not think of that! And thank you!

The atmosphere of this game is really good! The intro was very well put together and the monster is legitimately scary (which is probably why I couldn't beat it). The gameplay works well, but it is a bit confusing at first when you die, maybe make an animation play when that happens.

But overall, this is great! I love how you set up the atmosphere for a horror game. (without any cheap jumpscares :P)

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! Putting a horror game down because it is scary is one of the greatest compliments you can give a horror game, so thanks again.

Thanks for the feedback, I might add an animation for when you die, but given the time left for the jam I can't guarantee it making it in.

EDIT: I put a death animation in the game :)
