The music and art are amazing but the game feels slow. Plaftorming and controls are weird too. Overall good
Thank you for the Feedback! We are definitely going to work on the controls but we are receiving mixed reviews, some are saying the jumping is too floaty and others say a bit heavy could you tell me the exacts so that we can make note of it and try and figure out how to fix it!
Really floaty...
I really like the art and the music! The music gave me the chills at first though lol ;P
Thank you Our Sound designer Luiz did all the sounds and worked really hard on them!
The game was really challenging and fun! I enjoyed learning the solution for the puzzles. I even occasionally felt that the solution to the puzzle wasn't intended, largely because of the other unused platforms I encountered. I found it a bit like Celeste almost, which I'm currently loving. It, however, was a bit frustrating where I had to do things over and over again, especially with the long levels, parts where precise movements are required, and sometimes repetitive actions and challenges, like climbing up the ladder in the beginning of chapter 2, though I see these are part of the design. It also, as mentioned previously, had a bit of a difficulty spike in level two. I liked the clever idea of moving while things were changing. I loved the music. However, I was unable to progress beyond the second level due to a bug where I got stuck on the corner of a fan as shown here:
Overall, though, great game! I can't wait to see what you do next!
Hello Yes, sorry about that, the bug is strange and I Have been trying to fix it for awhile, if you would still like to progress you have to jump straight up there and then sorta move in, for the life of me I can't figure out what that is and might just have to redo that part as a collider might have been left hanging around that i can't see/click . Thank you for the wonderful feedback, when the Jam is over I will probable update it but I don't want to do so now as that might be a bit unfair.
Oh no it's fine! Thanks for telling me how to get past it. I'll check out the rest of the game before I give my final rating!
Thank you for giving it another try I know it's super annoying to get trapped in a bug and want nothing to do with the game afterwards, if you get stuck just sorta wiggle lol
No need to thank me! It's really fun! I love the ending, by the way. It creepy and completely fit's the tone! Great job! I can't wait to see what's next!
Thanks! we will keep at it!
Criticism - I definitely feel like the second and third levels should be swapped as the second level was the hardest out of the bunch.
Support - The concept is very cool and reminds me of this concept - http://www.squidi.net/three/entry.php?id=1. I also liked the simplistic art design.
Yes, it probably would have been better to do so, it was a bit of a last minute add on that went hard core, lol and thanks for the article I haven't actually seen this before, this was an idea I had ratilling in my head for some time, though the concept was going to be more Day vs Night kinda stuff and it sorta became black vs White for the less is more theme.
Cool concept!
Thanks!
I find the game too hard, I made it to second level. I really liked the music which make the game very athmospheric.
Yeah sorry about that lol, the second level was added because we though the others were to easy, but there is definitely a learning curve in that one that we may have gone a bit hard core on
I like the idea. It's fun.
Thank you, glad you liked it!
Great atmosphere in this game. The BG music was just downright creepy, loved it! The jump felt way too floaty for me. Awesome puzzles with the switches changing the colors. Great job with this!
Thank you our sound designer Luiz did all the music and sound effects himself and worked really hard on them! as for the jumping yet it was a bit high and light but we figured it was better for level 2 as the extra time would give the player to kinda right themselves for some of the platforms but we will work on trying to make it a bit heavier, we just haven't found that sweet spot yet lol.
Great idea, definitely something you should flesh out once the jam is over!
Thank you! yeah there is still a few things we wanted to do/add and we will definitely get there after the jam hopefully we will also be able to tell the full story
Great idea, definitely something you should flesh out once the jam is over!
I like this game! Great gameplay! Good job!
Please check my game as well ;)
Fun enough I already checked and rated your game before hand lol
Great mechanics, liked it :)
Thank you so much!
i loved how the game felt
but the controls were a bit annoying and unresponsive and i felt i didnt know what to do!
but the visuals were very nice
Thank you for your feedback, yeah we should have definitely added a bit of a tutorial or rule page but we sorta went down a rabbit hole and completely forgot and level 2 kinda went of the scales of difficulty quick as it was a last minute add on. Also for the controls was it that he moved to much or not enough? we kinda made him lose all velocity when the arrow keys aren't hit so he doesn't slide but that also means mid air jumps you kinda have to hold the arrow key down.
That wasnt a problem i really felt like i had because if youre not moving then you shouldnt move! but i liked the game
I really like the atmosphere, the ambient music and the colours, the mechanic are simple and it's not to hard, i've enjoyed! :)
Thank you we are glad you enjoyed it!
I like the atmospheric music. The color switching mechanic is fun and interesting, but confusing. I think you need to work a bit on signposting what the player is supposed to be doing.
Yeah we kinda lost track of time and forgot to place like a tutorial or rule page we will have to fix that up after the Jam, thank you for your Feedback!
Fun game. Just had difficulty with the controls. The jumping was a little heavy and unresponsive. Maybe some added coyote time would have helped with that. I was on the second level and knew how to beat it, but the jump kept failing me every time. Nice work overall though!
Thank you for the feedBack! I don't think unity does coyote time but we can definitely make the jump collider a bit bigger so that you can have a bit a leeway though we will have to do so after the jam as it would not be fair to change it now. we kinda made the collider at most the size of Patrick's head at his feet so there is a bit of space but not much so we will definitely fix that!
Coyote time is just a name given to the ability to still jump while off of a platform. Think og it from the coyote and the road runner old cartoon where he would walk off a cliff, then look down, then fall. Unity can be done a few different ways, the main way is like you said, extend platforms, or add a timer that checks if you are off a platform, usually 0.5f seconds. if you jump with in that time, you can still jump, if you don't jump you just fall.
I love this type of game and I think you did a good job with it!
Thank you this was out first Jam, but we did the best we could! and we had fun making it!
The puzzles were a little obtuse for me. I only got through the first level because I reset and knew the first block had to move left so I jumped over it.
Sorry About that we kinda went hard core in the second level lol, if you want a hint tell me what part stumped you ( also it's not just you I used my friend to test it and i was just sitting there laughing at him for like 10 min until I gave him a hint)
Fun idea. I think the game could benefit from more instruction/direction for the players. However, I like the feel and tone of the game. It might seem like a small thing, but having the blocks fade, rather than pop in/out is a good tonal decision.
Yeah we kinda got side tracked and completely forgot about a tutorial or at the very least a introduction page, hopefully next time we will remember lol
