Really like the ship style movement with turning a steering wheel! I think that's really fun and creative! the art and music is also really nice.

(PS: If you're willing to I'd love it if you can rate and leave some feedback on my game! This is my first ever jam and I'd love to see where I can improve for the future!)

I really like the visuals, the movement was a bit confusing at the beginning but later i fully understood how it worked, I find it overal cool, I rate graphics, mechanics, fun and music on top but all is great, also, if you have some time, please, rate my game too, thanks!!!

Really cool ship sailing game ! I blasted some bosses, took awhile to get used to controls. Congrats on submission. Feel free to try our game if you like!

I am not used to games where you control ships, I played enough to try to see all the content but not enough to get all the small details, so take my feedback with a grain of salt
now to some bullet points

  • the movement is a bit hard to control, it would be hard to react to bullets but in this case just like ship battles the issue wouldn't be dodging but having the best positioning to have the upper hand, that being said the controls are a bit hard to get quickly and feel a bit heavy
  • bosses are simple and easy, by getting in the enemy pirate ship I quickly defeated it, and since damage doesn't carry over, death is almost impossible to achieve.
  • to prevent the player from getting inside a boss and shooting, knockback could be implemented on collision
  • I imagine the gold you get from one of the bosses would be used to upgrade the ship, some of the upgrades I would suggest implementing are front cannons and increasing the number of side cannons.
  • having seen the ancient pirate I must say the experience was not too pleasant, as aiming at such a small hitbox to be a bit too frustrating, having the cannonballs explode at the place you select with the cursor when shooting at land could help with thing. But giving him a second phase after destroying the cannons was a smart idea.
  • extra cannons on the sides would feel better if they shot parallel to one another but at the same place when you get an extra cannon it feels like it shoots wherever
  • a clearer indicator of where the helm is pointing and actual speed would be nicer, I got both after a bit but they can be even clearer.
  • having the speed indicator next to the helm would also facilitate ui readability.
  • a button to quickly reset the ship to 0 speed and direction would be nice, doesn't need to be instantaneous as it probably wouldn't fit in the game, but having those happen gradually but fast would be good
  • instead of a lot of small quick tentacle attacks on the kracken (found them to be too constant to reliable dodge, and while the ship movement is more suited to a battle of positioning its not too suited to dodge small bumps on the road) perhaps a big slow powerful one would be more readable and dodge able

the game and the theme are cool, sound efx are good, i enjoyed it!

I saw AI was used in art, I am pretty sure that is not allowed. Also, I did not like the movement and the spin theme was not the best.

very unique movement. Extremely simple but really hard to master. I love the sound it makes when I slam into the shore because I'm a drunk sailor that can't figure out left and right when my ship is pointed down lol

Very interesting  & unique take on the theme, though very hard to control.

Art looks great, sfx are good too.

Overall, a fun experience if you can get used to the controls.

Fun game with a fun use of the theme,  I will say however that some of the art kinda blends together sometimes and you cant actually see the bullets that your shooting. though second boss i didnt have that problem.

Pretty cool Idea! I think having controls shown next the the UI element they control would be good.

It took me a while to figure out the controlls, they were a bit hard to grasp but once you got the hang of it, they work pretty fine! The sounds were really good too! Maybe the texture of the sea was a little too detailed to say something. Good Job and very creative use of the theme! :D

cracking little game mate!

like the music and creaking sounds!

make the cursor bigger and more contrasting to the sea background though as for a while i could see the 'new game' box but i had no idea how to start it.

port and starboard broadsides would prob be better with  2 fire button, like left and right mouse button too

damn the controls are hard, fun enough tho, the bosses have a lot of health!

Game is nice, controls are realistic but responsive. Hard to learn but fun once you do!

That said I'm pretty sure that AI isn't allowed as written in the jam rules
