Fun flappybird-esk gameplay. Would've like an instant replay when you get swallowed by the fishies. The tap mechanic can somewhat be buggy I.E. spam clicks/space bar (don't know if this is intentional)

Developer(+1)

I like the idea of an instant replay, I might be able to implement that in post-jam!

Nice and addicted game, would be nice to have option to start new game instantly

Cool lil' game ^^

It is difficult but I really liked it. I could see myself playing this quite a lot on mobile. Great work

LooK Good

Submitted(+1)

Pretty difficult and I didn't understand the timer. The camera also didn't seem to follow my fish down all the time. You could try making the first sections easier so people can give your game the best chance.

Developer

The green number was your score and the yellow countdown was just a 5-second timer for restarting after death. I definitely need to scale the difficulty post-jam.

Submitted(+1)

Nice game here, The countdown is a bit buggy and movement can be improved but nice overall.

Developer

The countdown was meant to be buggy on purpose, but it appears more or less buggy on different platforms.

Oh wow, thanks for that clarification.

This game is cool! BG music is awesome!

The game is cool but really too hard.

Developer (1 edit)

If you are finding the game difficult, you may like to know that the enemy fish's tails don't kill your fish, only the main body can.

the movement is so hard but good game overalls

I like the downwards flappy bird idea but it's way too hard at the moment. Since you don't really have control of the fish's horizontal position some times you are just stuck waiting  for a gap so you can go through (especially with the anglerfish since they have a very similar speed to your fish) and the parts where multiple fish would cross one after the other without a gap were nearly impossible. Also I found it a bit weird how you can go under the screen if you fall too fast.

I do believe it could be a great mobile game with a bit of polish though!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the detailed feedback, there is quite a bit of space between fish height wise, but some fish speeds do need a bit of tweaking, and still need a way to prevent waiting too much.

Submitted(+1)

The height between fishes on most cases was pretty good. My issue was when there were groups of up to 5 that I found with absolutely no space between them, those were painful.

Submitted(+1)

Interesting idea, the controls don't feel very good though: It would be better if the velocity would be set to 0 when pressing Space before adding the jump boost, right now you have to press multiple times when falling with high speed (you can also boost yourself up very high after pressing space a couple times).

The game fits the theme.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the idea, I may look into it, but I feel that is also part of the challenge.

Found it fun

Fun game! There isn't a numerical value for how deep I got but it had layers with 4 rows of fish xD The difficulty seemed hard from the start. I feel like it would do better if it curved so that its easier at the start and gets more difficult.

Developer

There is a green score number, unfortunately it does blend in with the background quite a bit. It's at the top of the screen.

As the others stated, its rlly hard to play in the beginning. Way to much fish! :D  Maybe it would help, if the player can change the direction, the fish is "jumping".

Great game . art style is cool . The controls are very hard.

Submitted(+1)

The game is great! I would say however it would be better if there was progressive difficulty as it was very difficult to get a hold of the controls first and once I did manage there were way to many fish to avoid when just starting.

Submitted(+1)

The core gameplay is really fun! And the game fits the theme really nicely.

But there is room for improvement in some other aspects: the background graphics and score color could be improved (score color is hard to see over the darker parts of the ocean). I also think that a few sounds would go a long way polish wise.

Submitted(+1)

The problem is that the fish can easily get off camera, most likely crashing into another fish. This makes the game much less playable

Developer

I think the game screen does not fit properly on some mobile devices, but it definitely fits on larger screens e.g. laptops.

The WebGL build on the page itself has the display shaped like a mobile phone and I do not see a download link anywhere

Developer

I'm not too sure why the WebGL is not wide enough for you, but thanks for playing!
