Interesting game and controls. Good job)

Interesting spin on the flappy bird style of game! It took me a while to get used to how the fish bounces up and down and goes off the wall but I eventually got the hang of it. The core of the gameplay is well done and it looks nice. If I have one criticism it would be that the difficulty curve could use some work, for example it might be better to have fewer streams of fish early on, and more spaced apart or slower and then do a gradual build-up to more fish that are faster. All in all though it was a pretty fun little game!

You can check out my gameplay video playtest below for some more in-depth feedback:

Crossy fish?

Things I enjoyed ✔️

  1. I love the gameplay of this game, I love how you took the diving deep theme for this title!
  2. Graphics were fantastic! Every fish looked great!
  3. Highscore system was very fun!

Things I would like to possibly see with your title. 🤷‍♂️

  1. Ui elements got clipped, I think it just might be an itch.io issue / html5 issue
  2. Adding some sound effects could go a long way!

Overall 📓

Very well done game, had a fun time playing it, rated this one very high on my list (I am a little biased cause I made a fish game), but still! Great work on this game you should be very proud of yourself!

Liked this cute fun game, although a little bit difficult

Submitted(+1)

This was good, especially for mobile.

Interesting gameplay!! I felt the level got a little to difficult at the start, and the audio was pretty loud.

Good work though with the unique mechanics!!

Very Nice Game! Rated It!

I Will Be Happy If You Rate Mine! :D

Fun game, especially for a mobile game. But I couldn't play much on browser because I couldn't see everything. There is a resolution problem I think. I liked the arts. Cute game. Overall good job!

Can you try and rate my game ?

The "bouncing off wall to change direction" mechanic is pretty interesting. I think its a bit too difficult, even in the early part of the level. Sometime it's hard to predict how much you actually jump, especially when you're falling, the graphic and color are nice tho.

I liked the unique movement controls, it took a little bit to get the hang of though.

Nice little game, wish the window size was fullscreen-able would likely solve most of your issues if set to scale based on the height of the screen.

Developer(+1)

It can be fullscreen, but the only problem then is that you can see the fish spawning in on wider screens.

Submitted(+1)

But that is where the scaling idea I mentioned comes in, you scale based on the height of the screen and the width is dependent on that height. So you have a window that remains vertical orientation with black bars where you want the view to end enforced by the game's aspect ratio.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the idea, will bear in mind for future game jams and for a post-jam update.

Fun flappybird-esk gameplay. Would've like an instant replay when you get swallowed by the fishies. The tap mechanic can somewhat be buggy I.E. spam clicks/space bar (don't know if this is intentional)

Developer(+1)

I like the idea of an instant replay, I might be able to implement that in post-jam!

Submitted(+1)

Nice and addicted game, would be nice to have option to start new game instantly

Cool lil' game ^^

Submitted(+1)

It is difficult but I really liked it. I could see myself playing this quite a lot on mobile. Great work

LooK Good

Pretty difficult and I didn't understand the timer. The camera also didn't seem to follow my fish down all the time. You could try making the first sections easier so people can give your game the best chance.

Developer

The green number was your score and the yellow countdown was just a 5-second timer for restarting after death. I definitely need to scale the difficulty post-jam.

Submitted(+1)

Nice game here, The countdown is a bit buggy and movement can be improved but nice overall.

Developer

The countdown was meant to be buggy on purpose, but it appears more or less buggy on different platforms.

Oh wow, thanks for that clarification.
