How does your game fit the theme?
The storm is coming, you have to lit the lightouse. You can see the lightnings strikes before you hear the thunder that scares you, hence it's calm before the storm (even in the middle of it, wow!)

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes for the code, not for the assets, all credits are on the page and at the end of the game

Pretty cool!

Super fitting with the theme and the mechanics felt classic yet very innovative, loved using the flashlight, as a good classic horror game! The game was very well crafted, easy to grasp and yet challenging, everything felt like it belonged! Just sad I peed my pants so many times hahah

Wow, what a great take on the theme, really enjoyed playing through!

You used the platforming elements very nicely, the game loop is great and the art, sound effects and the mechanics really bring it together. Amazing stuff guys!!

so cool to play with the combined cuddle/flashlight/platforming mechanics! loved how the lightning telegraphed the thunder, and the way the windows lit up the area; cuddling should probably hinder the player more, since I realized I could just constantly hold it and still be able to use the flashlight

Developer

I already fixed it in the new version coming after the jam, you can’t use flashlight while cuddling anymore as intended (if you start cuddling you stop flashlight but it was not the case the other way around). Thanks for your feedback! =)

Wow! Very neat game! The ambience and the feeling is very on point. The gray feeling and the constat rain that you can hear hitting the windows really sets the vibe. My favourite although is the concept: the funny lose condition, the fact that you need to cuddle when you hear thunder,  it is just way too cute. But what I feel this game could do better is communication to the player, especially of where the damage comes from. I had a couple deaths from ghost where I did not notice that I actually was recievign damage. And It took too long for me to realise that I recieved damage from thunder lol.

This was a fantastic experience and I really loved the whole feel of the game. It was very dark and you had to strategically take out the ghosts while moving to get the keys and keeping your teddy bear close! Nice of you to also include the lightning coming before the thunder, small but very immersive feature!

Really good job on this one! :)

Very Cool!

This video game is one of the best I've played in this JAM; everything is meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail. The background sounds, the camera movements, the way the ghosts disappear when you use the flashlight, and how the flashlight drains if you use it too much—all of it is excellent. The music fits very well and adds to the game's aura of mystery. I really enjoyed the gameplay of avoiding ghosts and finding keys to progress; it's very addictive! One recommendation: I think you could use a screenshot of the gameplay art for the game cover because it's really beautiful pixel art. Greetings!

Wow thanks! The tilemap and he character aren’t miner, but I did edit the colors at least and also expanded the tiles. I believe the tilemap had like 7 colors and I went down to using a palette of 5 colors. You’re right, I’ll add a couple of screenshot, I thought about it and later forgot.

^___^!!

Nice job! I like the mechanics. Fun ^-^ My only qualm is that the ghosts spawn quite often, so it can be a little annoying to explore the darkness if the flashlight is usually drained. Otherwise, nice spoopy platformer :D

Edit: Also, I'm your 19th rating. You just need 1 more to qualify!

Developer

Oh god, I forgot about the minimum ratings XD I was going to do some more rating this week anyway ^^

Very fun and pleasant game.  It is atmospheric and has a character (the teddy bear is such a way to immediately tell that we play as a child).

Suggestions:
- None really.  Maybe expand the lore/world with interactables (a picture frame here, an opened letter that explains where the parents are and etc)

Hee-ho. Cool idea. Very nice gameplay. Thanks for good experience

Nice feel to the game, the mix of the sounds and the graphics work well together. Great job!

Really good. There are a few issues, however. The ghosts are a similar color to the background and the become transparent as they take damage. A lot of the times I lost was because of ghosts I couldn`t see. Other than that, the screen shake is way too intense.

Developer

That’s kind of the point to make them hard to see, and the transparency supposedly tells you about their current health. As I said in another comment, I initially planned to make the background darker, it might solve partially the issue at least. Otherwise I’ll think about some kind of halo around them for the post-jam update!

Submitted

Really good the only problems I can think of is maybe that the background the platforms are a little to similar so it's kina hard to tell where paths are (which still already works because it keeps me on the look out for paths that are right there) and that it's kind of short which is to be expected in a jam.

Developer

You’re right, I tried to modulate the background tilemap so it would be darker, but I couldn’t find a way to do it quickly and didn’t try again. It’ll be in the post-jam update.

I was actually scared it might be a bit too long, cause the controls are not so easily I thought and it might leads to some death and I didn’t want people to not finish the game ^^

Clever loop of flashlight to teddy bear. It works really well. The flashlight is well done, between it's range, duration and control. I feel so much relief when I open a window too. The game's nicely moody. The levels, lightning and music go so well together. Really well done.

The game is great in general, but I think it's a little difficult for a jam. After an hour, I'm still on the second level after the tutorial.

Usually, I don't like platform games, but this one was really good. The visual aspect, lighting effects, and audio were incredible. Good job!

I love holding the teddy as a mechanic, it's extremely charming.

I understand the draw of making the levels like a maze, but with the darkness, the limited flashlight doubling as protection against ghosts, and the fact you have to stand still holding the teddy bear makes navigating some of the levels pretty frustrating

If you had made all the assets yourself, it would have been a contender. Great submission

Developer

I did try for a small hour to make assets… Let’s say the look would have been different, but I definitely need to get better in that department :>

You can move while cuddling, just slower. At first I thought about making you immobile but I guessed it would be annoying so I made it just a slow. If it’s not the case, it might be a bug ^^’

The idea is the level is short, so even if you die you can kinda rush it cause you know the path and where the keys are.

The game is fun. I love cuddling teddy bear and fighting ghost with flashlight :>

This game was thrilling! The limited flashlight battery added tension, and the second area had me carefully exploring to avoid getting lost. Holding the bear for comfort was a clever touch. Well done!

Submitted

That was fun! I wet my pants so many times xD The second area had so many places to go and I was doing my best to remember where I came from. I like the use of the flashlight and how fast it runs out of batteries, I'm glad you didn't make it last forever, it adds to the fun. Well done!
