took a few dives haha.. visuals are killer, that underwater vibe - so intense!!  the devs def nailed the mood with this one.. top marks! bubble & jellyfish mechanics are very satisfying :D def worth checking out for someone into atmospheric games :))

Great game and especially great atmosphere. The graphics and shaders gave an experience that was reminiscent of games such as Rain World or Animal Well (two of my favourite games). Keep it up!

It's very impressive that this game was made in a week. Very fun game!

Very cool game :). Though, a touch more lighter for the light's shadows would make a bit pleasing(maybe)

Hope that you'll also rate mine https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-12/rate/2973690

Really nice game, the platforming felt solid and the difficulty progressed good! nice work!

Very fun and unique game. Love the artstyle.

this was super well done! very polished and very challenging, albeit a tad slow at times-- but im guessing that was to really sell the "calm" part which i think was done super well. great game :D

Incredible game, seriously. If you made this in a week, then I'd say expand on it for a month or two for a two or three hour game then release it on Steam, it's an absolute hit. Lots of difficulty spikes but they felt fair. Only bug I found was the end screen looped, so as it panned down it then looped back to the beginning of the scene with the boat, and so on, but not marking it lower based on that! 5 stars all round.

Thanks for the kind words!

Personally I'm not sure if this game could hold for 2/3 hours unless there was a "boss level" at the end of every section, and we introduced more mechanics

Your bug might be related to the two characters issue. Were there any issues right before you encountered the bug?

Submitted

Boss level at the end of sections could definitely work, could also maybe spread out the mechanics? Or indeed add more a la Celeste, there's potential for loads.

With the bug, I just remember going to the surface of the ocean, seeing the ship, and then it panning down, after maybe 5 seconds it started looping, so camera back up to the first shot of the boat, then back down and so on. No further issues

The game is soo good. Your art is beautiful and it is indeed an very calm and relaxing experience. I just thought that some of the movements were a little cluncky (like when I had to float and then hit shift for the bubble), but nothing that made me not enjoy your game. It is great!!

Really cool game here, did great on the calm! The music is great too, I assume you wrote it.

Sprites and animation are on-point, I love the use of dithering to make such interesting backgrounds out of like 2 colors! Definitely had some collision mask trouble--while I got used to the player collision being big, the jellyfish masks' corners were brutal and sometimes caused frustration.  Otherwise the game had no other bugs and was extensively polished for a game jam!

Thanks for the kind words! All music and sound was made by our second team member

The jellyfish is planned on being changed so you can never slip off them

Really liked this one a lot! I have some problems with telling where the hitboxes are though because you kinda float in the air but also touch the ground with your hitbox. Also I found a few skips for some levels so that’s cool.

Overall, I don’t even know how you got this in 1 week so absolute huge props to you!

Yeah, the player will be lower to the ground in the future

Here's the general dev breakdown:

Day 1: Player movement. basic level and level transitions. spikes, death and respawn

Day 2: Player animations, keyboard control indicators, bubble mechanic

Day 3: First music, levels 1-3, currents, dashing

Day 4: Jellyfish, 4 more levels

Day 5: Backgrounds, rest of the normal levels

Day 6: All the sfx came in, final level, menu screen

Day 7: The rest of the music came in, pause menu

There were many other things we wanted to add but didn't get the time. Will come in an update after the jam :-)

Great to hear. I’m actually really interested in that game :)

I really enjoyed this one, the fantastic contrasting art and vivid shadows really add to the atmosphere. The music fits well and I really liked the different sprite forms. It has many elements of a great puzzle platformer and honestly well done for completing this in the small time frame!

Submitted

i love the style and the audio. Also the idea with the shadows is great. Good game!

Nice idea with limited visibility and nice execution with music and art

Very nice game! Good atmosphere, graphics and music. The game was very punishing for failing. I did not have two character bug. Very good job!

Submitted

Nice! The music and visuals were fantastic, and the movement and mechanics work well ^-^ Good stuff.

I did get the double character bug (I thought it was part of the game at first, so I managed to get both characters through the end thinking it was a puzzle mechanic lolol. The game did noooot like that; glitched both out for stage 2, then when I reloaded from the menu and beat stage 2, it got the character stuck at the start. Had to reset the game to get it normal again. Thank you for the stage select screen!)

Developer

I appreciate you giving the game multiple retries despite the bug
