The game itself is quite challenging but very enjoyable! I really loved playing this game, reminds me on some old-school games! Great work! :D

I have just finished playing this in the browser and here is my feedback, I hope that this is helpful :) :

  1. The art of the game is very nice and consistent. The sprites themselves are quite well made/drawn giving the game a professional look. The colour palette is simple and almost like a pink/purple version of Game Boy graphics, and there are no random clashing colours everywhere which is definitely a nice thing to see. Seeing another colour used for the character and/or the enemies would help them to stand out a bit, but too much colour would probably be too much, so the simple pink/purple colours work nicely, and the character is a different shade of pink/purple so that does help the character stand out a little better.
  2. The controls are simple since there aren't too many (just WASD and Space) however it took me a couple of minutes to figure out that I needed to use Space to get over some obstacles. They also feel a little stiff due to the slow movement of one space at a time, but that decision also seems pivotal the gameplay as you need to take time to think and navigate. Putting the controls in the intro would make it easier to understand, but this might take away the element of discovery with learning how to play, so it's up to you with what you do with this.
  3.  The music is well composed and also satisfyingly simplistic. It may be repetitive, but this isn't really an issue as the music itself is not annoying. The same can be said for the heartbeat. Both play a crucial role in portraying this dark atmosphere around the theme, and also the heartbeat is a crucial mechanic so it makes sense as to why it is repeated, because you need to wait for a heartbeat to be able to view the maze. 
  4. The levels themselves are charmingly difficult, making me think about what to do next when traversing the maze. Checkpoints could be a good idea, as starting back at the beginning was kind of frustrating, however it depends how difficult you want to make the game. I got to the second level (not sure how many there are) and I was dying quite frequently, but that felt like it was part of the challenge rather than a punishment, as it made me want to continue through the maze. 
  5. I tried level two several times, and each time I was progressing further through it, so there is definitely some sense of progression with this game, making up that essence of challenge that I have just mentioned. This is a good thing as it makes the game a lot more fun to play because it shows you that you can beat the level with enough practice and concentration.

In conclusion this game is quite an interesting one and it is definitely something to build on because it has great potential due to its interesting concept and well executed mechanics. I give Sir Dogget a solid 4.5/5. It would be interesting to see where this could go. Good luck with your future endeavours! :)

I absolutely love the vibe of this game. The audio and graphics are on point, and it's a lot of fun to play. There were 2 things that bothered me. My main complaint is the flashing(already mentioned many times, i know). It was exhausting to play because of the constant flashing. I feel like it was too agressive. Also some sort of checkpoints would be nice, as dying at the end of the 2nd level was pretty frustraiting. I really liked this game, but those 2 problems were holding it back a little.

I like that you stick to one restricted colour palette in your design. It reminds me of the good old times when I played Zelda: Links Awakening on the SNES with the Gameboy Adapter and you could change around the basic colour palette. The idea with the heartbeat is great - and challenging! The flashing can be hard on the eyes.... maybe instead of changing between complete darkness and light, how about using a circle shaped Sprite Mask that functions as light and that expands to almost full screen size with the heartbeat and after each single heartbeat shrinks back to a tiny circle around the player. I this way the eyes had some fixed point in the centre they can focus on and it may make the flashing more comfortable for the eyes. But thats just a rough idea. And of course: Great nostalgic game music :)

Hey Pidibidi! Great suggestion with the Sprite Mask, I wanted to achieve something like you described but I didn't know how to make it and because of limited timeline I've sticked to flashing. Now I'll know that Sprite Mask is something to experiment in future games. Really cool that you appreciate the colour palette. I'm more programmer than artist but I really wanted to achieve that oldschool vibe in the game. Although making everything readable for the player in just few colors that was a big challenge to me! Thanks for the feedback it's really nice to read such comments.

Really hard gameplay, i would have liked it alot more if it didn't constantly flash, or maybe flash a little slower since its a mechanic in your game? the constant flashing hurts the eyes after awhile, or maybe a future suggestion is to have difficulty levels, so have easy a slow flash and hard being really fast flash with slow re-flash? just an idea :)

Yes flashing is part of mechanics. Intro level has much slower flashing to introduce player to mechanics and main level has increasing flashing rate as player is getting close to the goal. I didn't exactly achieved heartbeat flashing effect as I intented but I wanted main level to be hard :) anyway thanks for playing and feedback. This was a great game and a novel idea! Personally, the flashing light screwed with me, and the second level was a bit confusing to navigate, but I pushed through and liked the overall experience! Great work!

I like the heart beat vision! Pretty interesting idea.

Although the tap to move thing sort of annoyed me in the beginning I got used to it afterwards. Just had to be patient. Same with the heart rate.

Graphics are pretty good! Nothing much to say about that.

Music and sound effects were great!

Overall I give it a 9/10

Hey I saw lots screenshot on jam thats your game! Audio is nice I like this classical music and sound effects. Also I like the pixel graphics and the RPG move and jump game. Perfect. I have to play again and again to search the way to pass the level. Nice Work! Very like it ~

Very nice. I guess you used tilemap to design the great game. If you have time i would recommend you one game called "Redungeon" which can be downloaded from apple store. You can inspire more elements and concepts from it. Although your game is unique and amazing as well.

Wowie is this game hard! I enjoyed it a lot though! I get why you used the gridlocked movement, it allows to avoid people underestimating their moves and die. Though the game is very fair (it does not feel like the game cheats to get you to die), I have suggestions for the death mechanic: 
1) Make the screen clear when the player dies
2) Maybe add a "you died  here" marker on placements where the player died? I feel this would add value to each run.
This could make the game more friendly without tuning down the difficulty. I also feel that the second option gives the player a good mental map of where he is if he dies a lot hehe.

Unfortunately this game is really hard to play if you do not have a Qwerty keyboard. Please use Unity's Horizontal/vertical axis input system next time.

It's a cute idea really, and I'm undecided whether the gridlocked movement without a stationary turn is great or terrible. It is hard to tell how much you move in the dark though, perhaps it would've been better to keep the map stationary and only move the player character. This might have turned the difficulty down a bit too.

I didn't like the background music unfortunately. The visibility toggle is also a bit hard on the eyes. Maybe giving players just a fraction of a second more time to see everything would be better and strain eyes less.

I am usually the one critical but I have to defend @hajsman here:

> No, it's pretty simple. Moving in the dark is the exact reason the movement is gridlocked and it only moves once for each of your press.

The difficulty of the areas is quite good and I need to admit that the tension increased as I've been passing the second level. But I died quite a lot into the second level and that resets you to the very beginning which is annoying (because redoing the same thing is usually boring) so I would say checkpoints are really missing here.

Really good game, the idea is great and the execution uses it well. I like the minimalist color palette, but it makes it hard to convey information. Very good pixel art as well, good job.

Yes, making game readable using 5 colors was challenging, but I'm aware that not everything is perfect. I'm suprised that people find my pixel art good, it's literally first time I did graphics this way to the public and I'm more a programmer than artist. Such feedback gives me lot of energy to keep up, thanks!

This game is great! Challenging but within reason. It really gives that retro game feel. One grip I had was that the characters feet are at the very bottom of the tile that it is in, which initially, was a bit confusing, but very easy to get use to. Very good job!

I like the pixel art, the game concept and the beat synchronization with flash/music. However I thought the level 2 was too hard/long compared to level 1 and my eyes got a bit tired with too much flashing (unfortunately).

I have to start with that you got me here with the preview image, simple and clear. The styling of the game into 2 colors is nice and but maybe you should have played around with shading a bit more because the scenes look a bit too much flat. In the second level where you get to the first bigger pit, I couldn't distinguish what is the pit and what is not. Only other problem I've had with the gameplay was that the the 2nd level was way too long, and therefore I wan't able to beat it without any checkpoints. There were many tricky sections in that level that I wasn't able to pass consistently enough to beat the whole level. Maybe if you split the levels into shorter segments, and allow players to fail faster without that much punishment it would help the game. Overall really nice gameplay loop that could be nicely expanded into longer game. Great work :)
