Good job finishing your first game! It's my first one too, in fact, we had some similar ideas!

The game feels really nice to play and the only thing I would add is more enemy variety and maybe increase the pace a little. Great work!

Great game. Who doesn't love being able to fling infinite fireballs? I enjoyed the time crunch and having to balance killing enemies in hopes of getting extra time and saving time running by them. It was irritating when enemies spawned on top of me during a boss fight to kill me, though. Regardless, great job with how little time you had to make this!

Developer

The enemies spawning on you was probably the only thing I really feel I failed at. The bosses were (and still are) too easy for ranged and I was hoping to find a way to balance them for melee. Hindsight and all that. Thanks for playing though, it was tons of fun to make. The time was mildly inspired by the time crunch we were all under during the jam to make our games lol

I don't think you failed at it at all! It just seemed like they spawned a little too close, but that could be fixed easily. I definitely felt the time constraint, too, and couldn't add/fix everything I wanted in time. I like that connection to the time crunch of the jam now that you mention it.

Fantastic game. The art was nice, the music was nice, the movement felt high quality, and the game was really fun overall. I really enjoyed playing this!

Fantastic work on this game. Amazing that it's your first published one. You're gonna go far!

Really snappy controls and great gameplay, loved it!

Awesome an fun game! Nice controls and great use of the theme!

Simple but fun, for some reason gives a bit binding of Isaac vibes, but not in a bad way at all. The levels were nicely challenging at times and the gameplay was well, entertaining :D Keep it up!

Game is really well polished and made. The final boss was really fun to fight. You have so many art assets that are well made its crazy. Like that you have multiple classes and a pseudo character male female creation type deal going on. Good game man!

Very nice game, I had fun, especially with boss on floor 5, I've lost 2 times, but I had actually a lot of fun! :D

Really cool game ! Nice mechanics and polishes

You kept the scope well under control for the jam, yet some ways I would improve it :

  • Having more graphic variations and assets
  • unlocking powers like in Isaac
  • Different enemies

All of those things were definitely in the original plan, but like you said, I choose to keep the scope small. I wanted to focus more on polishing out a game and finishing because, if I'm honest, this is my first finished game. I usually just let myself add way to much and increase the scope to well beyond what I'm capable of. For sure will be looking to improve this in the future. Thanks for playing!

Very fun! The controls feel great.

Great music and art,The gameplay is very fun but you should improve the bosses.

Amazing game.

Wow, if you made the art and music from scratch for this gamejam I am impressed.

Great to have little things like choosing the gender of your character in gamejams :) Good job.

Just be careful with naming your game though :( http://www.towerfall-game.com/ A very popular and successful game with the same name already exists.

Developer (1 edit)

Naw I didn't make the majority of the art or any of the music unfortunately. Not within my skillset.

Also, oh no. I was too involved in making it I didn't think to double check the name. Guess I'll rename it after the jam is finished. Or before? Not sure if thats allowed.

Thanks for playing though! It was a fun project to work on.

Oh no? That's a bummer :/

Great game all around. Tough but fair and rewarding to beat. Beautiful pixel art too!

Wow... what a cool character design! in female and male style :)

Nice game! Extremely easy to pick up and play, no complicated controls. The timer visual was a nice touch and added a sense of urgency that a countdown clock wouldn't have done. Class changes the game-play and difficulty. Beat it on Warrior myself. Good Job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I spent a lot of time polishing the core mechanics I put in. I would've liked to get some more rooms made and some additional enemies to run into but such is the ordeal of a jam. Glad you liked it!

Nice one! Digging the sprites and the music! Also, give me a procedural dungeon and I won't be disappointed!

I'm always good for a solid roguelike/roguelite. I wish I had done more with the dungeon generation, so I might revisit this in the future after taking a break for awhile. Glad you liked it!

Really cool project. The amount of work put into this is very respectable. Overall great game with quite a lot of polish.

I draw inspiration from Blizzard from that respect (though not in recent years). They always polish the smallest of aspects to emphasize the game feels, so I'm glad I was able to pull that through to this project. Thanks for playing it!
