The controls are a bit hard for left handed people : First, I didn't know you could run until my first death by falling inside the first pit. The game then says to use shift to run, but only the left one works ; it should be both. Also, the game ran pretty harshy for me in some parts of the level, I don't know if it's because of the graphics quality or not but it was a bit hard to aim because of that. Apart from that, nice job overall!
this was the game i was expecting
the controls were a bit confusing and because my pc's a potato it couldn't handle that much
btw your game's super cool
btw check my game too;)
Great gamed design and concept, I liked the idea of the different guns and how they were used, I also loved the metrovenia style where you have to unlock new abilities to be able to reach new places in the game.
However, I think you should add more sounds to the game to give the user more feedback on what is going on right now.
The dialogue boxes moves so quickly and I can't read what is going on.
I think the particle system should be enhanced or removed as it is currently just distracting and confusing the player.
But great job on the idea and the game consistency!
Thanks for the feedback
I had tooth surgery so couldn't work for first few days either. I should have gone with my own dialogue system, using fungus from asset store was a bad idea. Mine was way simpler and I would have much more control over that. Anyways, which particle system? the one coming from the ground? its just for mood XD I'll make them more transparent to make them less noticable.
And for the sounds, I actually made the whole level design in last 15 hours. I didn't have time to add any sounds. until that I only had the guns and character working. Being only one working on it, I just had a lot on my mind. good thing I had some old scripts I used, so my team was me and my past self with his spaghetti code.
Although i might not even work on the game further for some time, because I wanna try other engines for now. well we will see.
But thanks for playing! ^^
There are some nice puzzles. This game reminds me the Portal also it has unique things in it just like the weapon choices. I liked the weapon textures and being able to bunny hop.
There are lots of potentials for this game idea. Lighting and gravity could better. Gravity acts weirdly while trying to go down on an inclined surface. Well done!
Keen sense of Art you have. I just spammed the lights around with different colors because I had no time left. XD I would have planned the lights according to the game design(like rooms with guns changing lights once guns are picked up, more yellow with rooms showing lava green lights to turn on when doors open etc), but couldn't do any of that. Being a perfectionist is hard with jam games. such headache over the headache I was already having due to tooth surgery that week :')
I just wanted played to understand the guns and eventually add enemies to kill using the guns and even a time bomb sequence that you must send the bomb in wormhole before it blows everything up. Things are so much fun in head but implementing them is time consuming. and we all jammers can relate to that. :')
Anyways, thank you for playing and the feedback! I might work on a custom player movement script to fix the gravity issue and make it more responsive. See you around.
I really like the concept of the guns and how you introduce it to the player in a little demo, for a jam it's great because you want to show your game mecanic based on the theme of the jam
Really impresive good work! the variety in guns and mechanics is really good. It needss some polish like the walls hitboxes and i would add more force to the first 2 but its a great game!
Really nice graphics here, the footsteps sound very authentic
Graphics looking very cool! Cool game!
thanks! Any feedback though? ^^ feedback is appreciated.
Great game! Reminds me of portal! There is some nice game design behind this one!
Thank you! Can't compete with portal but yes, that was the inspiration. ^^
and yes! I wanted players to feel the need of the guns and gradually introduce them on how they can be used. there are 2 secret endings in the wormhole actually. but they don't work on the main build because I had no time to play test.(made the whole level design in last 15 hours). I appreciate you noticed. ^^ thanks again
i played ur game but i didn't understand what should i do !!
any way i rated ur game can u do the same pls ?? and thx !! ^^
I already played your game and left feedback too.
Please don't rate the game if you haven't played? I don't know what to do with the ratings if they are given by people who haven't even experienced the game.
Try webBuild of my game with music here.
have some simple Guidelines that are hinted in the game:
1. first gun can blow the crates out of your way.
2. there is no wall run, its just a prank.
3. red buttons open the door only when its not touching any boxes.
4. you can create wormholes(gun 2) on floor and walls to devour things touching it.
you will figure out the rest :3
I failed to beat the game, because i couldn't figure out what i supposed to do on those red snottub lying and the floor and said can't open the doorse because the pressure, try to add box on it, try to clear the box around it, still can't open it ToT, maybe it just me i'm suck on solving puzzle ._., and i think the camera could higer a bit thou, also his jump is to short, lucky the game feature let me to do jump wall, but its makes me always scared to jump haha. Beside that the game is cool, even lack of auido of anykind, just a step sound is already feel good, and also give more player info, always feels good to see the hint on the wall :)
It should just open the door when you push the buttons away from the red snottub(reverse buttons). It worked for everybody so far.
Try giving this webBuild a chance maybe. Game with music
it has music but you can still rate it 1 star because I couldn't add music in time.
haha nah like i said, steping sound is already enough, no need for 1 star man, thats to harsh, and yes maybe its my hardware thingy, coz i stepped on it. put box on it, shooting on it, even aimong it, dang. But the strange thing is even i exit and play it again its still jammed like that. Hopefully it just only happened on my laptop
you were supposed to push the buttons off it. once nothing is touching it, door opens :3
because if you didn't open the door, then you only got 1 of 3 guns, in a game where guns are the main mechanics. so you can't really judge the game? anyways, its up to you.
Thanks for playing ^^
Hmmmmm, pretty nice game. For some reason, I couln't see the crates in the WebGL version, maybe my brain not working or something else, even tho I tried backtracking.
So I downloaded the PC version, and the blue forcefield was there, and it clearly showed that there was something around here to do something. And I zip-zoomed and quickly got through the game.
I think it is the different rendering and lower framerate of the web version that causes it to not feel as good.
But as for the actual game on PC, I like the whole dynamic all three weapons bring. Pretty nice, short and sweet game. Good stuff.
So webBuild isn't that smooth?
Its mostly for the people with mac because I can't make a mac build on PC, and my rich friend only do mac.
Anyways, congrats on finishing the game! and music PC version has 2 more endings in the wormhole if you somehow avoided going in the wormhole.
Thank you! I'll play your game soon ^^
As far as I have seen, with 2D games it works fine, but as the game gets more and more complex, it starts struggling.
I have played some games that were much worse on web build. Case by case thing.
Really great work, but what do i do with the blue orb? Is this the End of the game or did i miss something?
Very nice game, i like it :)
Yes blue orb is the end. If you touch it, it is supposed to show "thank you for playing, you saved the hole world".
thanks!
one simple question: after taking the gun, what should we do exactly?!🤔
shoot the boxes on the way back to where you came from. its a puzzle man, you are supposed to figure things out.
Puzzle game? oh, I thought it's a beat 'em up game :) sorry!
Ok, I will try that again.
Yes there are no enemies. you just find the way out. there are actually 3 endings and you can play it with sounds in browser here: https://arcaid.itch.io/hear-the-hole
you can rate the music to 1 star because i couldn't add it before time but this way you will enjoy it more ^^
Really great game. Intuitive clean controls, fun guns, great level design, awesome music. Had a lot of fun playing this.
I did get a bug with the message system where the last message would sometimes stay on the screen instead of disappearing, but it didn’t always happen.
Thanks again! Happy you liked it.
Yes that bug happened. I should have used my own dialogue system instead of fungus. will fix it post jam. ^^
First of all, fantastic title.
Secondly, I never expected a game like this to have such a smooth wall jumping ability. Did an amazing job on that, honestly.
Overall, it's a solid entry. The graphics are good (although I'd argue the guns don't fit the style of the rest of the game), and the gameplay was actually pretty fun. Definitely also appreciated the secret ending, adds a lot of charm to the game.
Thank you! I spent first 3 days only working on the wall run. good to know you liked that ^^
Guns I got from brackey's site so I thought why not.
I had a tooth surgery so only worked on it for 4 days, would have improved alot if had one more day.
but Thank you for playing and the feedback! ^^
Cool game, but I got pretty stuck after collecting the portal gun. I was about to quit, but I then got teleported to some room with portals everywhere? No heckin clue what was going on there? Restarting the level was a bit annoying, but the level was short enough to not be too bad. Nice graphics, and a pretty polished looking game.
My favourite mechanic was the wall jump, and I must say that anyone not using that ability is missing out on this game's full potential.
The portal gun only works on floor and walls, so you were supposed to use that to pull in all the boxes in your way to get the final gun. You didn't actually find the true ending. :' )
going inside the wormhole was supposed to be a side thing.
Thank you for the feedback though! I'll add better hints for wormhole. ^^
This game reminded me a bit of portal. It has such a cool concept with the three different weapons. If you polish it and add more content you could make a full game out of it! Add some sound effects / music, this would make the game more immersive. I really enjoyed it and am happy to report that I saved the whole world! :D
Things didn't go as planned and I messed up the portal world. you can actually go inside portal and there were 2 more secret endings in it.
I added another project with fixed bugs and music. I accidentally gave player all 3 guns in the start in music build and it was too late to fix so i reverted back to this music less bugged wormhole game. :')
and actually you saved the "hole world" :) Thank you for that! worms are really happy.
Oh, I'm gonna check out the secret endings! :D
Lol sure, Its arcaid.itch.io/hear-the-hole
I love this entry, I'm extremely surprised it has this little plays. You should definitely promo this one more! What can I say, the game progresses very well. It teaches you mechanics in a playful step-by-step way, not unlike portal, which I really appreciate! I think the puzzle elements are very cool too, they aren't too hard but do require insight in the different mechanics. I found it to be a fun little game for sure! There are a few points of critique tho: The lava shader seems to be broken. Not sure how, but it just moves along with me and I can see the borders of the mesh it was put on ^^ The wallrun mechanic was either non-existent or buggy to the point that I didn't even know whether it worked or not, but I'd have loved to used it :) I would also recommend looking into camera stacking so you can have a seperate camera that only renders the guns ontop of your other camera, so it avoids sticking your guns through walls, it's what I did for my entry, it's a useful thing for FPS games!
The last critique I had is that I went to the portal world and got stuck there because my guns didn't seem to have any effect on the stone-like blocks, which was kind of a bummer! Other than that, I think you did a really fantastic job. The controls feel tight, the dynamic between guns is very interesting and I think it can easily be expended upon, with a bit of polish, to a full-fletched game. Kudos!
I am really sorry about wall run thing XD I was just trolling. (There is even an apology on the wall later.)
I spent too much time working on the guns that All the level design had to be done on the last day. And I started late due to my tooth surgery as well so only had 3-4 days to finish. I also wasted time making it in terrain but turned out player could climb up even 90 degrees slope in terrains, so had to redo some work. just more excuses..
I actually made that portal world before finding the assets for main game and didn't have time to test it. I fixed the portal world in reupload on my itch page. the gun works there and there are 2 silly endings in portal world.
wish I didn't have my surgery this week, it would have gone smoother. And I'll add the camera stacking if that is compatible with URP or I'll just add a render pass for it. Thank you for feedback! Appreciate it!
Thank you for your feedback! Not much people playing my game so I'm really happy to know someone is appreciating it!
That's all great to hear, life sucks sometimes, but you luckily get more time to work on this so yeah ^^ And about the URP, I had to literally downgrade from that to get camera stacking to work. I read on a forum post that they implemented it, but for as far as I can tell, they haven't yet. URP isn't production ready in a lot of ways tho, so I'd consider maybe downgrading, even tho that sucks :P
They changed the render technique so you can actually make camera stack work with some other way. more complicated one i guess. I am working on my old 2D jam game for now, so might not improve this one any time soon. But lets see. ^^
Interesting concept, it just needs a bit of polish. I really like the way the wormhole dimension looks
Yes, Sorry i didn't have time to play test and a bug wouldn't let you shoot in wormhole dimension. there were 2 silly special endings in that. :')
thanks for the feedback!
