The man is stuck in a level and the level keeps on rewinding itself till eternity.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. Some of them I found online and the code I wrote myself with the help of Brackeys tutuorials.

Nice work! Despite the lack of polish and design (I think other people have mentioned this), I still managed to have fun playing your game!

Submitted

Congrats on submiting your game !

Since you have the main mechanics working I would say you could do some improvements to the level design since some areas are quite hard. The first pit that has a saw midheight is pretty difficult and feels a bit unatural if we consider the character jump trayectory.

Great work none the less, keep up the good work.

Play my game if you have some time.

Developer

Thank you a lot for rating checking out my game. I will certainly change the level design to ease the player into the controls and make overall improvements to the game. Thank you once again.

Great job, needs more work and you can improve a lot of things, hope you had fun in the jam

Developer

Thank you and you are 100% right right. I had a lot of fun in the jam.

For a first game Jame this is great! Obviously there are things you can work on here  like animations and a little better hit detection but it feels almost like a super meat boy type game, with the fast respawn and the funky music to go with it. As for some things that would be good to think about next time, the music didn't seem to fit the setting but there wan;t much backstory either so maybe it could have. When going in the rewind section the player is still on the left side of the screen making it very difficult to see incoming obstacles, a bit of a readjustment of the camera would have been nice.  great job keep it up!

Developer(+1)

I completely forgot about repositioning the camera. Thanks for taking the time to play the game.

The sprites look good, although it would be even better if they were animated, The obstacles are a little unforgiving sending you back to the beginning on a single touch with no warning, two or three extra lives would have helped out or at least a slight pause so the player could see how they died. it could also use a few sound effects.

Reading that this is your first game jam, I hope you had fun and I'm sure you learned a lot from it, next time I'm sure you'll make a good one!

Developer

Thank you for your feed back and I will certainly change all these things and add the animations.

This is a good start. I had fun and liked it. It was done in a week, so not going to criticize. It has a lot of potential if followed up with some of the issues noted by other reviewers.

Please play and rate my game too!

Being completely honest I didn't enjoy it. I'm sorry, however below is my feedback if you're game below and what I think needs to be improved:

Unfortunately a lot of the art is very clashing and it's difficult to tell what's in the foreground and background. I also believe that the might be an error on the difficulty as collisions seem to happen when the player is very far away from the object that kills them. The coins also go up by 100 was that intentional? It is very jarring to see you immediately die, re spawn and music reset all in the same scene.

I do think it can be improved with time, work and as you grow as a developer!

Developer

Thank yous o much for taking your time to play me shitty game. It was only my 3rd game so it was bound to be pretty shitty. I know the sprites were pretty glitched out but I had done everything alone and I'm not that good at creating art. So thank you for your honest opinion.

Submitted

No problem, game making gets better over time so keep it up!

Submitted

It's a good start! There are some issues like collision and the lack of animation but I'm sure you already know! Anyway, keep going :D

Submitted

Great job on the game! As state from some comments the collision seem to be a little to big, music was great but it would be cool if you could implement some singleton so it wont repeat itself when i die. A little more polish and this could be a great platformer! congrats! :D

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you so much for taking the time to rate this game. (It is pretty shitty)

Submitted

Hey never call your game shitty man. Its a start! nobody succeed on their first try :)

Great game to play.Colliders seem a bit bigger than those traps but it can be fixed.Great music btw.

Developer

Thank you soooooo much

I like the game and it was fun to play :) (although I died a lot xD) And for feedback, Lazy_programmer sums it up pretty good.

But you finished the game, which is a really important, so just keep at it :)

Developer

Yeah the game was quite difficult but I wanted it to be like Super Meat Boy so now I know that it was certainly like it.

Submitted

I love the game. it is just too hard collider is bigger than the trap. friendly tip colliders for negative or enemy objects are always smaller than the sprite size while collider for positive or powerUp object a sometimes bigger than the sprite. also i was not able to see how you apply the theme of the jam to the game. maybe it is because i was not able to survive the first two traps. another friendly advice, your first level should be relatively easy to play so that player can adapt to your game easily. placing three traps close to each others at the beginning of the game is really not a good thing

Developer

Thanks a lot for your review. I will certainly look into it.

A cool platformer game, I liked it :) The music was also very good. Animations would be a great addition to the game. And maybe a storyline or atleast a backstory on why the player is stuck in a eternal level. Keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you sooooo much

It's an interesting game, lovely visuals. I think the movement could be improved, for example the floor is way too slippery.
Also size of trap colliders should be more in line with the visual of the traps, right now they're bigger.  Some animation/audio/particle effect on death would be nice too. Particle system is really easy to work with if u haven't tried it before.

Keep up the good work :->

Developer(+1)

Yes the colliders were bonkers and it was a bit flawed at controls too. I really liked it that you enjoyed my game. Thank you.

Submitted

Pretty fun game! Try animating the player a little so it feels more immersive. Other than that, good job!

Hope you had fun making it!! ^^

Developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to play my game. I really appreciate it.

Submitted

Cool idea.

But when making a platformer keep in mind that you need to be secretly forgiving.

I recommend this for you -

Developer(+1)

Yeah I know that the controls were a bit bonkers. I thought of using these mechanics as in Celeste but I tried to increase the colliders of the surfaces but it felt really weird and then thought I would do it later but never got the time to do it.

Submitted

Pretty cool little game! Like one person said, smaller colliders for the traps would be better. It's better for the player to think "how that didn't kill me" than "how that killed me"

Developer

Thank you so much for taking the time and trying out my little game. I know it was very frustrating but I made it after Super Meat Boy so I guess I achieved what I aimed for. Thank you once again.

Extraordinarily Brilliant Keep Making Games.P.S:Its A bit too hard :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing my game

LOVED IT. I  Just completed the rewind  version.Outstanding!!!!Exceeds Expectation!!!!

Submitted

It was a bit frustrating but neat in some way, the colliders where a bit misleading and confusing at times, the calm music with the hard nature of the game was a funny addition, i would recommend using the same resolution for every sprite so when you import them into the game it will look better. Good job and keep making games!

Developer(+1)

Thank you soooooooooooo much. I really appreciate that you looked in my game. I'm just 14 so it was a bit tough to create a better experience but I was quite happy the way things were.  Again THANK YOU SOOO MUCH.

Submitted

No problem! I am actually just 16 too so we are not so different in that lol, and as I said before, keep working hard to become better and better at developing games. Good luck!

Developer(+1)

Same to you fellow comrade

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your reply and persisting through the aggravating experience. I will definitely keep in mind the colliders and the resolutions of the pixel art.

Submitted

This was a bit of a frustrating experience :) I'm a super meat boy fan and I easily get hooked on masochistic experiences such as these! I found the colliders to be pretty unforgiving here, but I pushed through. Pretty cool that the level was designed to go forwards and backwards, though I struggled quite a bit at the end. Not bad for a first game though!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much. I really hope you enjoyed the game. It was very unique experience for me. Hope you had a good time too.
