In what way does your game fit the theme?
The game fits the theme because you start the game alone and powerless but as you get more friends you get access to more areas and weapons.

So you're better when working together.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the code and created all the visual assets. Sound effects are from Zapsplat and the music is from the fantastic Sammy Virji.

I really liked the humour and tone of the game, along with the unique mechanic.

It would be nice if the text could be sped up a bit, as long dialogue can be really slow. An indicator that you’ve cleared all the enemies would also be nice.

That was great, felt minimalist and very fun. Great humor. My one issue was accidentally starting the first dialogue with white over again. I appreciated the attention to detail that enemy 'gun buddies' were red to match you, just like your gun buddies are the color of what they kill.

In my top 3 games for sure!

Simple Funny and really really smooooth. With such a simple idea you made such a beautiful game and a really epic journey. Thank you!

You made a charming little game! I like the funny dialogs. The visuals are simple but good and music fits and provide the flow. The backward shooting was challenging.
Nice job!

If you like twin stick shooters, check my game, it has a flocking and forming mechanics.

Simple but fun. The controls were tight and it ended in a good time limit. I loved the use of the alert sound.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! That was def my goal this time around. "Simple but fun."

That might just be our favourite game so far! First of all the audio is amazing and the gameplay was super fun. We loved the humor. The artstyle was very simple but it was fitting. Can´t think of anything major to improve.

We found your game because we saw your great feedback under many other games. That is super nice of you!

Developer(+1)

Your entire comment made me smile :D!

Im so happy you liked the game so much to call it your fave so far!!!! I know its small but it was made with a lot of love!

And thanks for noticing my feedback! Thats honestly what we are all here for. To get opinions on our creations so I try hard to make sure I pay attention and am constructive with every game. IT makes the process take longer but I just think its important.

I'm gonna check out your game now!

Very entertaining dialogue and good shooter game, the graphics could do with a bit of a buff, thinking like a person holding another little person with a gun here would be pretty funny since there personified. Very comedic game and gave me a lot of laughs! Great job on this one :)

Thanks for the feedback!

Visuals are definitely my weak point. I'm currently trying to teach myself pixel art to add some life to future games!

Thanks for playing and Ill make sure to check out your game today! My big exam is over now haha.

Cool little shooter game. Good job. I just wanna say I did encounter a bug that when I picked up the blue creature I couldn't get out of talking with him. Other than that good job.

Developer

YIKES! I'll try and reproduce that. I think that the dialogue system needs a whole overhaul. I built it so fast that Im sure there's even more bugs haha.

Thanks for playing! I appreciate it!

Very nice entry for the jam! Was a fun game to play and I enjoyed the personality you put into it, having a bit of a story to play through and characters to interact with was nice. This jam was the first time I implemented a dialogue system and I didn't have time to make the text appear one character at a time so I immediately noticed (and liked!) that about yours haha.

It was a nice mechanic to have the different enemy types and having to shoot accordingly. The choice to use colour coded enemies with their number indicating number of hits was a great decision, as it immediately gave information without needing to be super advanced graphically.

I first played in the browser and on trying to right click accidentally did the click/drag shortcut to go back in the browser and lost my progress lol. I then downloaded the .exe and played through again and completed it. Nice work :)

Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm grinning from ear to ear at the moment! All of your feedback has been really positive and Im just really happy you enjoyed it.

I appreciate the feedback and Ill make sure to check out your game too!

Was my pleasure! Always nice to see someone being positive and working hard, keep it up :D

Really liked the dialogue!

The game was simple but fun. The blue shooting was a nice mechanic to get used to.

Also, kind of a side note - when I saw the big enemies I was like "oh shi-" but then I realized they are easier to hit. I guess it wasn't intended but it was a cool moment for me.

Well done!

Developer

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback, and I'm really glad you liked it!

It was my first time adding dialogue to a game so I'm happy that it paid off.

And UGH, those "Bosses" were supposed to be much stronger. I should have given them a shield or something but I was so tired by the time I made them I left them as is. Gotta def improve that for any future builds.

I still love your game!

You can add a dialogue after this level about the fact that you'd expect them to be harder, and than add more difficult encounters later on.

Now instead of a feature that you wanted to improve, it will end up as improving the whole experience. This type of dialogue is fitting to your game so it won't feel out  of place.

Good luck, I'll be checking in when your'e done!!

Developer

Haha, I love that Idea! I think I'll add that and I'll make sure to credit you somewhere.

Interesting despite the simple graphics! The dialogues really added a soul to the game but  it would be better if you can skip to the end of sentence on second spacebar click! Overall good job!

Please check out my game too:D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I def need to add the "skip to end of the sentence" functionality. I wanted to get it implemented but left it to the end and couldn't get it working in time.

Dj Khaled... I LOL'ed. Thank you! Cool, funny game!

Developer(+1)

Haha, Im glad you enjoyed the humor! It's super cheesy which I know isn't everyone's taste :D

Love the game!

  • The music is really good (although I’m not really sure how acceptable it is in terms of copyright)

  • I wish you could skip through the initial dialogue. I accidentally triggered it a few times trying to figure out how to play

  • I think this is intentional but I noticed a lot of the song lyrics in the dialogue which I found pretty funny

  • I’m surprised I’ve never seen anything like this before since it’s so simple but the health bar/counter system is quite innovative

  • I’m not a fan of the art. I feel like some of the colors are a bit too saturated. I’d recommend using a pre-made palette (assuming you haven’t already) from a site like Lospec

  • I ran into a bug where the camera just teleported somewhere and then teleported back really quickly. It only happened to me once though so I’m not able to reproduce it or give many details on it

  • I think some more visual feedback could be added. For example, camera shake or particles upon killing/hitting an enemy

  • Overall, a pretty solid entry. I feel like it was a bit on the easier side but it wasn’t too easy. Quite fun too!

THANKS FOR THE DETAILED FEEDBACK!

I agree with all your points!

- I also love the music and am unsure about the copyright but I thought since it's a free project I'd be okay 🤞 .

- I think that you should be able to skip through most of the dialogue, I just couldn't figure out how to set that up before uploading.

- It is intentional and thank you for noticing!

- Thanks! I think it's simple yet effective.

- Yeah...the art is pretty trash haha. I really appreciate you recommending Lospec as a resource. I'm learning how to create the game art and color pallets are so tricky for me.

- I also ran into this bug before building and am gonna try and fix in the future if I can reproduce haha.

- Agreed again. I added sound effects late and didn't even get to the visual feedback but Im gonna try and improve in a future build once the jam is over.

- Appreciate it! Ill make sure to check out your game as well.

Yeah I assume it’ll be fine too

It's a cool game, but though I don't think the song fits. I also find the problem where you can just repeat the same dialogue over and over on some dialogue if you just pressed space again.

Developer

Hey Jayden! I really appreciate you playing!

Thanks for the call out on the dialogue bug! It was my first time taking a stab at making a dialog system. So I'll make sure to fix this in a future build :D

Submitted(+1)

Pretty fun game! I think you could limit the shooting speed, because now you can pretty much instantly delete even the bigger enemies. Other than that, the game feels smooth and polished, good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I see what you mean! I'll def take a stab at limiting the shooting speed in the future. I may use a concept like how you used in your AMAZING GAME. The rechargeable bullets thing seems like a good way to balance that shooting spam haha.

Thanks for the feedback! And I agree. It was my first time taking a stab at a dialog system and I couldn't figure out a way to make the skips work how I wanted. Definitely gonna improve the system in the future.

Thanks so much for playing!
