In what way does your game fit the theme?
This fits the theme "stronger together" because must keep your nation from falling apart to rebellion while conquering all the territory on the board.
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Pretty much. The music is from freesound.

Thanks :) it was a lot of work.
Visual is interesting, but I tried 3 times and 3 times loose. Didn't understand how to win at all.
Thanks for trying it out! Sorry, it was less intuitive. A lot of it ended up being coin flips so if you don't get a good start it's difficult to get back on top. The main goal is to conquer all the squares on the board.
I love how elegant this game is, it's insane how much gameplay you can draw from a 4x4 grid! I played it a handful of times and each playthrough brought about a new emergent twist. It's really easy to crumble in the span of just a couple of turns!
Other than the stellar gameplay, I found the character designs to be very quirky and fun, and the little battle effect is a really nice touch.
I hope you continue working on this post-jam, I think it would polish up very nicely!
Thanks :) Glad you liked it so much. I plan to expand it, I like strategy games in general and have a lot of other things I wanted to add and improve on.
I really liked the concept of the game! I thought it was unique and it fits the theme well. At the start I did have some trouble figuring out what to do, but eventually I was able to enjoy the game.
Thanks! Glad you were able to figure it out and enjoy it :)
I don't have time to write out a real review, but I did stream your game here:
Cool! Thanks! Thats actually probably better than a written review since it's more like a playtest. Great to see what you thought.
I like that you made your own boardgame! The game is fun to play, once I understood what was going on.
Thanks!
Really fun game! It seemed like a cool spin on Risk where unhappiness and rebellions factor in, I thought that part of the game was super creative and neat. I liked how simple the game design was and how easy it was to quickly understand what was going on. The only minor issue I had with this game was that I thought that the numbers on the tiles meant the amount of manpower each tile had, and then I figured out that wasn't the case and it was the player number, which was a little confusing at first. Other than that minuscule detail, great job! You seemed to have put a lot of thought and effort in, bravo!
Thanks for playing and for the feedback :) Interesting on the numbers. That was actually just there for debug purposes initially lol, but I left it in because I thought it made it easier to see what was going on, and then if anyone was color blind I thought it might help.
Ah, that makes sense.
Nice game one you understand what to do... losing territories to rebelions and having new oponents is a good idea! The only thing I think could be improved is the How to play. It took me a while to understand what was going on.
If you have time, have a look at my game:

Thanks! I'm glad you were able to figure it out :) I knew that was going to be a trouble point after trying to type it out.
very awesome i loved it. but plz i would like to download it so plz put a downloadable version. also idk if u remember me from the black thorn prod game jam, plz rate my game
Glad you liked it :) I remember you haha, long time no see. Maybe after the jam I'll add a downloadable version or something. Might make some improvements first though.
A very unique game type and cool concept. Was surprised by the appearance of P5 cause I didn't read How To Play lol. Good job!
Thanks! Yeah, I don't usually read them either lol but I knew it would definitely be confusing for some so I made sure to add it.
Interesting concept. nice job. Love it. Pass by mine to rate also :D
Thnaks!
A very nice game! I love these simple yet interesting strategy mechanics, reminds me of games like Slay. I’ve lost the first round while trying yo figure out the gameplay and won the next. It would be fun to add difficulty options, and also try larger maps (though I like the initial countries arrangement on your 4x4 map, quite a clever tiling). The UI also needs some improvement - the large billboards slightly confuse the visual appearance of the map. Anyways, clever mechanics, enjoyed the game, great job!
Thanks for playing! Never heard of Slay, will have to check it out. The 4x4 arrangement was actually a happy accident at the end haha. I definitely want a bigger map but I need to rebalance the discontent mechanic for that because it would scale out of control otherwise. I agree that the billboards need a future rework. It was tougher than expected to get the UI to make sense.
Great submission for the jam! Strategy games are rare when looking at these sort of time frames, and this was definitely a good one :D
I enjoyed the general gameplay and the randomised character portraits along with the rebellion events made it feel unusually 'alive' compared to a lot of pre-determined jam games. I won on my first attempt without too much trouble which in a commercial game I would maybe question but in a game jam entry that's exactly what I want! If I can get my head around how to play a strategy game in a few minutes, enjoy the experience and then score a win and crush my enemies, what's not to like?? It feels strangely fun being rebelled against and losing a small territory to then immediately come down on them with the full force of my army and take the territory right back haha.
Nothing to suggest from my end in terms of ways to improve for a jam submission, just that it could be extended upon if you wanted to once the jam is over. Different map layouts and maybe more depth to some of the systems would make this game even better. Great job :)
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you had a fun time :) I definitely want to have different map layouts and give the systems more depth.
Hey! I love that you made a strategy game for the jam. It was a breath of fresh air for me.

I'd really appreciate if you could review my game as well :D
Thanks for all the feedback!
It was tough figuring out what music would go with this so nice to hear you liked it. The little guys are just particle systems going at it but it did come out better than expected lol. Yeah tried to add some character to it, I think it makes any game more interesting, as seen in your game's dialogue as well.
I agree with the difficult part, I need to balance it to make it more dynamic. It's all based on random coin flips, which works as a quick solution but would be better expanded out. And yeah some sort of tutorial other than a block of text would be better haha. It was hard to do with the game still in development (i.e. when do you say 'ok this is done..tutorial time') but someone suggested a tutorial turn which could have worked out better.
hey, nice job on the fighting system, very similar to board games like 'risk', i truly enjoyed playing it. In terms of feedbacks and things to improve i'd guess there is two major ones :
first of all, the discontent system is, in my opinion, useless to the player, i'd rather invade someone else to keep them from getting stronger all the while, i'm expanding my territory, and so my manpower. It's interesting to get those events where there's a rebellion happening, but i'd rather make it fully random, or at least give a better control to the player over it, cause i'm enclined to just ignore that part and try to rush the conquest.
following up, i think you lack something reaaaally important for those kind of games, and that is territory characteristic. Controlling a small area deep inside enemy territory must feel like you're surrounded, weak, and vice versa. it would be interesting to focus more on the combat system, as i found it very satisfying, and a bit strategic, which is already a great achievement for such a small time of work.
Nice job, maybe a bit ambitious for a jam, but keep going, and be proud of what you achieved, and that is a pretty fun strategy game, which is one of the most complicated things to create in my opinion :)
oh, and very nice job on the AI, they felt like real players facing me ;)
Thanks for the detailed feedback and kind words!
I agree that the discontent system could be somewhat ignored at least from an attacking standpoint. One of the issues is that even when it works to break up the enemy, when you are about to lose, you still end up losing because the AI will prioritize weaker targets. So that's something I need to work on and balance better. I'm not sure what you mean by fully random and more control?
Hmm, on this point I think the bigger issue I have is that at a certain point winning becomes impossible with how strong the dominant player is. In this case, you do feel very small and weak but also that it's not reversible. I would like to somehow change the combat to allow you to be more strategic, where it's not just bigger numbers win. Potentially through the discontent mechanic or through actual troop stacks moving around or both.
Yeah, it was ambitious lol, but I could not help myself after hearing the theme and having a preference for strategy games.
I meant either full random, or at least random with minimal control, but not replacing acting on the turn. Like, increase the possible results of having a high discontent (rebellion = loss of territory only, famine = loss of men, ..., like 1 axis of the game impacted, instead of 2/3 at once, it would diversify things), but also maybe rewards for having a low one ? You could make players start with initial 30% discontent, a player getting to 0% would get buff in fights for example, his happy units being more willing to sacrifice themselves for a country they love ? These are just suggestions of course, but I'm sur there's potential in this kind of game, having it small scale could fit mobile really well as well !
Ah I see, interesting. It's great to get your thoughts on it, more ideas to chew on.
When I first got into the game, I thought it looked very complex in terms of mechanics, but in fact, once you understand the game, it's quite fun! Very good game design in this little game.
Great job.
Thanks :) glad you had fun with it.
Good strategy with cool idea
Thanks!
Interesting game! It's a bit complicated, I think it could definitely use a tutorial. All in all, well done. I haven't come across anything from this jam quite like this one. :)
Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
This game is pretty fun and I like the rebellion mechanic where people can break off from you if your not careful, I do wish the ai was a bit harder though.
Me too, haha, had to descope that to future plans. Thanks for playing :)
Such an interesting way of bringing the theme to life. I really enjoyed this game. I like the boardgame like design aswel and the little people fighting. The only thing I wanna mention is that it´s hard to get into it the first time you play. Maybe a tutorial which leads you through your first round or something would have been nice.
Nevertheless a very well made game!
Thanks! glad you liked it :)
That's a really great idea, I will definitely look into that because I was a little stuck on how to make it easier to understand. I generally don't like it when games handhold you in the beginning too much, but 1 turn seems like it could do the trick without being too annoying.
