How does you game fit the theme?
You are a kid playing the floor is lava. But if you fall in, it is not real and you need to go back to a place you can climb up to try again.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Modified some example code for base movement.

Luckily the lava is not real ;)

This is really well done. I think maybe a shortcut to returning to your previous checkpoint would have been nice though.

Got a 2:39:73, one of the coolest submissions I've played so far. Great art, good polish, and I dont think I've played a top-down platformer before. The only feedback I could think of is maybe some different level mechanics/obstacles to spice up the gameplay. Great work!

Super original mechanic! It's really refreshing to see a top-down platformer game, and the way you interpreted the theme was really cool! I loved how you made the "checkpoints" a quick flash into reality, and the jump sound made it really satisfying to parkour around.

I do want to say, some of the platforming challenges were a bit finicky, and I felt like I lost for no reason even when I shouldn't have because the jump was hard to judge. I do understand that this problem is pretty inherent to the unique approach of a top-down platformer but I still wanted to point it out.

I also think you could have shortened the levels a bit, I do feel they dragged out a bit too much.
Overall this is a super charming and fun entry and integration of the theme, great work, and keep it up!

This was really well done I really liked the idea cause I know as a kid I would always play the floor is lava so the lava not being real reminded me of that. Gameplay was really solid and overall great job!

Wow, really impressive! The assets are top quality and the music/sfx too! I liked a lot the main menu where it actually works already as a tutorial. The controls on the gamepad are perfect. I even replayed it couple of time to get the lowest time in the speedrun mode (1:45). Colliders are really generous, and I liked that a lot, specially when jumping to the little chairs.  Loved the fact that when you fall into the lava the level doesn't restart or you automatically spawn to the nearest checkpoint, but you are the one who needs to tun back and jump on the chair. The only bad thing I can say is that it needs more levels, and that the last one was way to easy compared to the previous ones. I would have loved to play it fullscreen, but somehow when pressing the arrow in the web gl brower they don't work, maybe it's a problem I have with my broweser. Top marks to this one!

I'm in love with this game.

Awesome game, the top-down platformer works really well here!

A good experience. Although precise jumping from this perspective is usually kind of annoying, you made it work rather well.

While working on my own game I was wondering how other people would interpret the theme and I like what you did. In fact, I think its genius!

I did find the movement mechanics a bit hard though, even when I plugged in an Xbox controller. Not sure if this is by design or not. Still made it to end... ;-) Looking forward to the video!

Pretty original idea that could be expanded upon in the future. Very polished and good looking visuals, great sound design, and a good feeling player (better with controller than keyboard). I feel the perspective on the player sprite is a bit weird, but other than that one nitpick, this is a genuinely fun, well made game.

What a great game! Very well done! These people sure got a lot of furniture! What makes this game really   great, is that you don't 'die' when hitting the floor.

this is the winner

I love that you did go through with your word on our devlog on Oh Rats! and revisited the topdown platformer idea! It actually inspired my own entry for Metroidvania Month. It’s a bit hard to control but it’s unusually easy…

This is the first game I've played for the jam, but this is it. This is the winner. Amazing graphics, fun gameplay, awesome music - it really has it all. At first I wasn't so sure about how it fit with the theme, but then I died and it all clicked. A fun concept and an even fun game! The adorable pixel art really brings it all together, and I love the checkpoint system. If I had to give any criticism at all, it would be that the controls are a little mushy - I think the turning speed is a little slow for a top down platformer. Admittedly, I played with WASD instead of a controller, which I think would have been much easier. But this game needs almost no more polishing from my perspective. You could put it on Steam and I would buy it. Awesome job, man. My game pales in comparison to yours, but I'd be honored if you could try it out.
