How does you game fit the theme?
Choosing a character doesn't affect the gameplay. But it does affect the story.
Experience the level with all 5 players - each of them controls a different character.
Watch how each of them plays on their own, and experience his own life story.
However, as you go through th game you find out they're all connected, and each one effects the other.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes!

very Nice and entertaining game..... Keep it up
Thank you!
I liked the idea and how it played differently with each person.
The graphics and audio were alright. The gameplay was nerve-wracking as the character seems too hard to control. It moved too fast and has some slide/rolling thing running with the physics. It also sometimes don't seem to jump when I pressed up. I'm not sure if it was just the lack of that coyote effect, but it seems like jump just didn't register. It came to a point where I wasn't paying much attention to the dialogue anymore.
I liked the intertwined stories, though I haven't read all of the prompts. The smoke part at the end from Vlad was just too hard due to not being able to see the character who already moved way too fast.
I think I bugged the game somehow, I did not understand how to finish Nick's arc, but at some point when the cellphone rang it just dropped me between the traps, alive. I just caught the last coin and it sent me back to character choice, but Nick's option had no time set, as if I didn't really finish.
It's an interesting experience, just needs a more reliable platforming!
Thank you for the detailed feedback! Much appreciated.
I do agree the platforming is quite hard, and the lack of coyote effect doesn't help that. I didn't think it would affect the attention to the story sadly, so I'll take that into consideration next time with story-driven games.
Regarding the last level, you're basically supposed to be stuck and keep falling for the trap until a special solution is met, it's here in the comments if you want to take a look (I don't want to write it again, to not spoil for others. If you want to take a look, lookup "SPOILER ALERT").
Glad you found it interesting and once again thank you for much needed feedback :)
I liked it a lot everything strangely fits very nice and relaxing
good work.
Thank you very much!
Nice game, I like the simplest of the art style and the implementation, great job
Thank you very much!
Cool! The character was a little bit fast but it's ok! Keep it up!
Thank you!
I kind of adored every aspect of this game. The style, music, difficult platforms filled with disturbing material, and chats below were funny. Naturally, I tried each character. Would you mind rating my game if you wanted to? If not, you may assist others in need of a rating category. It's entirely up to you which option you make. Continue making entertaining games:)
Thank you very much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it.
I'll play your game soon and rate it as well, of course :)
Wow, that was amazing! The controls are a bit janky, but the story is really good, that's an awesome take on the theme! It's the first time I've seen such a storytelling in a game, that was incredible.
I think I cheesed the last level by landing between two of the flamethrowers because my final time was not registered, and it didn't feel like the solution... But I can't find a way to end the level. I even tried to shut down my wifi, which would have been a genius solution, but it did nothing x).
Can you give at least a hint of the solution, so I can see the end ^^?
Thank you very much for the kind words!
I'm even more glad that you kept playing until the end :)
SPOILER ALERT:
You were correct! Well done first of all, not sure how many kept playing until the last level and actually figured out the creative solution, so kudos to you.
In the Update method I keep checking for internet connection. If a connection is not reachable - the last message trigger is disabled and you can collect the coin simply like any other level.
It seems to work on my end, so perhaps you were somehow connected in a different way besides Wi-Fi?
I'm not sure, as it's a simple line of code so I don't think something went wrong there. But I might be wrong.
Anyway - Your solution was indeed the correct one, so the genius one here is you, and you can count that as a win if you ask me :)
That's a VERY interesting take on a puzzle platformer, I liked it, although I think the movement is a bit too snappy and fast, it's difficult to controll it, but that might well be intended so.
Thank you!
The movement was meant to be really fast, but it might have come out more frustrating than challenging - and I'm glad people are pointing it out :)
The story and characters were really fleshed out for a 7 day game jam entry. I liked to music too. You might want to refine the controls though.
Thank you for the feedback! :)
I really like the story in this one. The audio and the little cutscenes make it great. Only thing I would change is the screen size and maybe slowing the player down a little bit. Other than that, Well done!
Thank you for the feedback!
I do agree regarding those 2 issues - I couldn't fix the resolution in time for the submission, and the speed was aimed to be a challenge but came out more frustrating than rewarding I guess. Glad you enjoyed the story though. :)
I kinda loved everything in this game. :) The style, the MUSIC, the challenging platforms with all the disturbing stuff, and the conversations below were hilarious. Of course I tried all the characters :)
If you have time and don't mind, check out our also story intensive game. :)
Thank you!! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Always fun to hear a good feedback!
Sadly I can't try your game as I use a Mac and I see there's no WebGL or Mac version, but if you launch one contact me and I'll gladly try it out :)
Audio is really cool and I like the story. Nice background but it would be nice to have it on the entire screen when maximized. Movement could be kinda less sensitive. I really liked when player was rotating in the air. Overall, excellent job!
Thank you for the kind words!
My resolution was bugged indeed, I couldn't fix it in time for the submission. Learnt my lesson regarding that. :)
Awesome game! I am not a big platform-gamer myself, so I struggled a lot with the highly sensitive input, but I loved the story and the feel for the game. Well done!
Thanks a bunch!
idk if you intented to allow rolling the cude. it was silly but fun haha
died serval times as it roll off the edge :'(
anyway i like the story
Thanks!
And yes, it was intended :)
Really incredible story driven platformer
Pros: really cool interpretation of the theme, amazing storytelling, great artstyle
Cons: some of the sound design was a bit abrasive, It took me 4 tries to get the web version to work and the download for windows didn't contain an exe (seemed to possibly be a project folder instead?), I also found the controls to be very difficult and imprecise though that may be a matter of preference.
Overall incredible platformer that tells a really cool story and I love a game with a cute artstyle but a dark storyline.
The detailed feedback is much appreciated!
Thank you very much :)
Indeed this is a project folder, I couldn't build to Windows. I edited the game page regarding this aswell.
yes I see that now, I somehow missed that note my first time reading through it
Well done. I don't have the coordination anymore for platformers, but it was fun.
Here's mine: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-8/rate/1675396
Thank you!
EDIT: I see now that your game is Windows only, so I'm sorry but I can not play it - I use a Mac :(
Very fun game! I love the speed, it sticks you on the screen to finish the level
Thank you! :)
HOW DOES THIS NOT HAVE MORE REVIEWS/RATINGS?
Highly addictive gameplay, fantastic sound, a clever meta-narrative, and graphics that simply work to serve the formerly mentioned qualities. It's the kind of game every game dev wants to make.
Also, outstanding job on the mechanics! Frustrating at first with a clean difficulty curve is extremely tough to hone in a game like this -- but it's here in this game. I'll be recommending this to others simply for the rewarding challenges herein.
If anyone deserves to win a chocolate factory, it's this game -- it's both seemingly humble but layered with a genius quality that cannot be ignored. Well done.
P.S. I'd be super honored if you considered playing my game for this jam and letting me know what you think.
You made my day!!! Thank you for the super encouraging comment. I'm happy you liked it!
Most of the things you wrote down I had in mind when creating the game and I'm delight to see it worked :)
Sadly regarding your game I couldn't run it, might be because I use a MAC? If it should work on a MAC let me know and I'll try to find a way around this.
Once again, thanks a bunch!
No worries, Guy -- hopefully, we can make a future version of the game available for Mac.
Very cool and fun game! I really enjoyed playing the game.
Thank you very much!
I hope more people come across this game. This is by far the best game I've tried in the jam. The narrative with the meta layer got me hooked from the beginning. The game mechanics feel frustrating but it makes sense in the context of the game. The music goes very well with the game
excellent work
Wow, what a heartwarming comment!
Thanks a bunch. Much appreciated!
